Work Text:
Bob loves Yelena’s hands. He loves holding them. His hands would touch her and he would feel a spark. Ever since their hands touched in the vault he’s been drawn to her ever since. He can feel the callousness when she grips her gun too hard, and feels the scrapes from busting through windows. But somehow her hands remain soft right in the center. He finds peace there, his thumb presses rubs against the center.
But right now things are different.
Her knuckles are bloody and numb. Bob rips a bandage off. Carefully wraps her hand. Her left hand is pretty banged up. She doesn’t flinch.
“Can’t feel it.” She says seeing his eyes search her face. She presses her hand against his face.
Years of this job and he doesn’t get used to it. He hates seeing her hurt. He hates seeing her go on solo missions. Not that she can’t handle it, but he wants to always watch her back.
He presses a soft kiss against her palm. The kiss lingers as his lips move to her wrist. His love is heavy and so devoted. He looks at her like she can do no wrong… when she’s done the most terrible things. He loves her completely.
Yelena is still in awe of his softness. His love. It’s familiar. It’s as common and as strong as the blood on her veins. He loves her. He loves her. He loves her.
If she doesn’t know anything she knows that's true. Especially in times like these.
In the past, she’s picking up the pieces after a mission gone wrong. She’s taped herself together, bruises barely healing, wounds still bloody. She’s survived. He knows that. He knows how fast she’s put her walls up, deflecting, hiding. But he sees through that, that snark and bravado is a girl who deserves better, deserves more.
Bob starts throwing used wrappers away. Bob is quiet at times yes, but very much a yapper. Talking about how tight the bandage should be, what ointment he used. He wrapped so many bandages for his mother, this was second nature.
He wipes down the bathroom sink, leaving her wedding ring on the counter. She looks at it and pouts.
“I can't wear my ring.” She grabs it and twirls it. He kisses her forehead once, twice.
“I’ll make it a necklace, tomorrow.”
“You.” He cups her face, “need some rest.”
Yelena rolls her eyes, “Not a child Bob.”
He shakes his head, his curls in her face. He leans down to kiss her neck,
“But you won’t go to bed unless I ask you too.”
“You don’t know that.” He kisses her head,
She tugs on his sweater. He moves brushing her faded t-shirt aside, caressing her hips. She closes her eyes in response. He presses her forehead against hers,
“You did good today.”
Yelena sighs, “it could have been better.”
They had gotten word that a knockoff super soldier serum was bought off the black market. Intel let them to a suburban home, a lawyer was trying save his daughter from a terminal illness. Yelena busted into the house to see him cooking breakfast for his family. She saw a package of hot chocolate, warm milk on the counter, the capsule close by. A deadly mix.
The daughter, April was excited to see her. Her favorite hero is in her kitchen and hot chocolate to boot. It felt like a dream.
Yelena can never forget the daughter’s face, no older than twelve looking at her father in such disappointment. He couldn’t take it. He turns up the heat and turns up the dial on the stove.
Yelena can still see the white burst of light. She threw her themselves on top of them. The blast threw them backward into some cabinets. The next time Yelena woke up, the ambulance was taking them away. The father vaporized. She doesn't even know if mother and daughter survived. She doesn’t tell Bob that the hurt hand came from thinking about pure anguish that little girl was going to go through.
A few years ago that wouldn’t have mattered but now….
“You tried, he squeezed her hips again, pulling her back into reality.
“That’s what matters.”
She shook her head, flashes of the mission burning in her head. Bob brushes her hair from her face, he can see tears streaming down her cheeks,
“Hey, he whispers, he strokes her cheek, “come back to me.”
“Sorry, she mutters.
“Don’t be sorry, it fucking sucks.”
“It does.” She kisses his hand, “Bob.” He nuzzles into her hand. He hums, feeling her fingers on his sweatpants carefully untangling the drawstring . He dips down, pressing his lips against hers. His lips are soft and she feels his tongue moving against her mouth. She lets him in, feeling his hands traveling squeezing her skin. He pulls back his breath fanning her face, “Let’s go to bed, maybe help you forget a little bit.”
He kisses her forehead again, “is that okay.”
Yelena stares at him for a moment, her eyes scanning for any hesitation but finds nothing. Her stomach flips and after three years of marriage, her husband still makes her feel like this, undeniably wanted. Bob notices her swimming in her thoughts again,
“Lena.” She blinks at the sound of his voice, the way his fingers lifted her shirt, thumb pressing against her skin.
His eyes furrowed and his blue eyes searching her face,
“It’s okay.” She whispers. Bob’s shoulders loosen up, his heart beats slows as if he can breathe again. He leans down and presses a kiss against her clothed shoulder. He feels Yelena’s hand on his back, the other engulfed in his hair. He melts at the gesture, burying his face into her neck. He’s engulfed with her scent, her strawberry shampoo that uses, the smell is faint but he feels like home to him.
“Stop smelling me Bob.”
He chuckles, “l’m not.”
“Liar.” She responds.
They pull away then Bob grabs her hand and leads her to the bedroom. He dims the lights and she takes off her sweatshirt, tossing it on the chair. He walks over to her, a small grin forming on his face. Yelena, a good foot shorter, has a firm grip on his shirt and tugs. Their lips clash and she can feel the smile on Bob’s face as she bites his lip. He moans cupping her face and backs her against the foot of the bed. Clothes being flung around their room. Not caring where they landed.

She genuinely thought that he was trying to make her forget her own name. Only knowing his. But how could she ever forget it? He nuzzles into her neck as she wraps her legs around him in a tight embrace. His thrusts are deep and he lays over her like a weighted blanket. She feels very tempted to roll over, her on top. But she feels so comfortable here.
Naturally, she uses her hurt hand to grip his hair. Bob’s hand pulls it away, intertwining their fingers over her head.
Nevertheless, Bob removed himself from her neck, his eyes were dark,
“Let me take care of you, okay.” Yelena nods, “Fine.”
In the dim light he can tell she pouting,
“I’ll make it good.” She doesn’t have to say anything else to know he’s making a promise right now. A goal to make her feel like the desired person on the planet. He kisses her cheek,
her husband is always eager to please, she can’t deny the feeling she gets when he spreads her legs wider. She kisses his forehead, he hums in response before burying her face in her neck again. A heavy sigh leaves her mouth as he rolls his hips just right, his damp curls tickling her ear. His fingers caressing the small peak of her breasts. She whimpers, “Bob.”
“hmm.”
” I wanna see your face.” He pulls away, his blue eyes shining. She brushes the curls behind his ear, her fingers trace over his cheek, the little stubble that is forming on his chin,
”there you are.” Bob smiles at the raspiness of her voice-the way her body folds into him. Feeling like the missing puzzle piece is finally clicking into place. He rolls his hips again,
”you’re so beautiful, Lena.” Yelena nods, matching his thrusts. Their noses brush, loud gasps as she feels that familiar twist in her stomach again, her eyes never leave his. They chase each other’s lips for a long time, she leans up but he pulls away.
“I want to kiss you.” She says after a while.
“Well, I like to watch you.” She rolls her eyes, “it’s like seeing stars for the first time.”
It’s a simple compliment, but it strikes a cord in her, “Yeah?.”
”Yeah.” He says, like it’s a fact. He stops thrusting for a moment. She takes that moment to kiss him. He pulls back a bit dazed.
“Watching is over, now we just feel.”
His smile is wicked, a little too sharp to be Bob. She feels his hands on her hips , a slight sting in her hips. She loves that. She loves him so much.
In the boiling heat between them, she kisses him again, her fingers stroking his hair, pulling him deeper into her embrace. Their lips clash, salvia trailing kisses as her body becomes conjoined with him. A perfect marriage.
Their bed being the only witness.
When it’s all over she’s playing with his hair, her face tucked into his neck.
“So how does your hand feel?”
She responds with a shrug,
“You know you shouldn’t be moving it around when it’s hurt like that, lack of mobility and all that.”
Her mind flashes, her hand squeezing the sheets, clutching his damp locks.
Yelena bursts out laughing,
“lack of mobil-, are you serious Bob.”
He shrugs, “it’s true.” She rolls her eyes,
“Say that to my legs that are completely numb right now.”
He kisses her forehead, “how about your brain.”
“Huh.”
“My job was to make you forget.”
Yelena draws circles into his chest with her finger, “the memory is still there, but not as strong.”
He hums in response.
“I know what you are going to say, it’s not your fault Yelena, but I don’t know, I always feel like I can do more, be more.”
Bob pulls her closer,
“You’re more than enough for me.” Her lips curl into a small smile. His fingers brushed against her cheek,
“Beautiful.” He whispers, “Soft.”
“”My husband is such a liar, and that makes him laugh,
“I like when you’re soft, he whispers.
Yelena stares at him for a moment, thinking of a joke but it comes off a bit too vulnerable.
“Before you, no-one called me soft -
“I can stop-.”
“No,Yelena says quickly, моя любовь, (my love) I like it a lot.”
“Okay.” He says, and the words hang there. He takes her hand, carefully taking it in his own.
“You don’t have to worry Bob, Yelena whispers, “I’m not going anywhere.”
“But what if it’s not your hand next time.” He says, “it could be your leg, a bullet to your shoulder, the heart-“
Yelena shuts him up with a kiss. He leans into it, the kiss is brief before Yelena pulls away.
“I’m always going to worry about you, I don’t think I could stop if I tried.” He says after.
She scoffs, “you’re indestructible but I worry too, remember when you hit your head on the ceiling.”
“That ceiling was way too low for an office building.”
She giggles, “you were grumpy for two days.”
She remembers putting a frozen pack of peas on his head. She shakes her head at the memory, he’s always bumping into things, he’s never lost his clumsiness. She ruffles his hair, his curls are messy and damp, covering his blue eyes. Something that will absolutely not be allowed. She carefully tucks loose strains around his ear.
“There, much better.”
However she keeps staring at him, Bob gets this dopey grin on his face,
“What,”
“You’re staring.”
“Maybe I like to stare.” Yelena teased.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
They lay in silence for a while after that.
”Bob.”
“Yeah.”
“Are you seriously going to make my ring into a necklace?”
“Only if you want me to.”
She kisses his neck, “I want you too.”
“Okay.”
Her stomach growls,
“the usual.” Bob asks, the usual being Mac and cheese with a dap of hot sauce and spicy sausage.
“Yes.”
He starts to pull away from her, but she steals a quick kiss from him,
“как мне так повезло? She says after. (how did I get so lucky) Bob kisses her forehead,
“Ты сказала мне «да», поэтому я верю, что мне повезло (you said yes to me so I believe I’m the lucky one).” He responds, combing a hand through her hair.
Bob pulls away again, leaving her in bed alone. He throws on a shirt and pants and leaves the room. He says he’ll wake her when he’s done.
Knowing that he can make this recipe when his eyes closed, it won’t be long. Yelena grabs his pillow that had fallen off the bed, nuzzles into it before drifting off in a deep sleep.
A/N: let me know what you think everyone!
