Over time, Tails had begun to feel... a little weird around Sonic.
It was slow, gradual. There'd occasionally be a strange little tingle in his heart when Sonic did certain things.
He didn't think much of it... until one day, he had to carry Sonic.
It was their typical thing. Tails flies, Sonic grabs onto his hands and Tails lifts him to where they need to go.
But, for some reason, when their hands latched together that time... Tails' heart skipped a beat.
They hadn't done it for awhile, sure, but it was their thing. They used to do it all the time on their adventures. It was how they got around. Why would he feel... like that about it?
His hands... Sonic's hands, that is...
Even through their gloves, it felt...
He lost focus for a second and lost some altitude, before he managed to refocus himself and keep flying, barely making it to the ledge he wanted to reach before getting too tired to continue.
Luckily for him, Sonic hadn't noticed the strange moment. He flashed Tails a grateful grin and ran off ahead.
...Tails did not follow right away.
He had to process a few things first, things that he was just finally starting to figure out about himself...
