Work Text:

To Vicky, Alfonse was like the sun.

Whenever he smiled at her, that smile she knew he rarely gave to anyone, it made her feel happy. His laugh was so infectious that when Vicky was alone with Bruno or with others, she felt warm inside. He understand. Loved it.

To Vicky, Bruno was like the moon.

The complete opposite of Alfonse. He had a difficult past, but he was always there for her, giving her freedom and advice. She really liked his smile. He was an expert in magic and always helped her to feel like she was needed in the order. He boasted that he had only trained two people in his life, and it seemed he had trained them well.

“You're distracted, love,” the voice of the Prince of Embla said, and the redhead looked up. “Is something wrong? Did that woman say anything else to you?”

Vicky blinked. She had seen what happened if someone did something wrong behind the princes' backs. Seiðr had made her uncomfortable, and that wasn't going to change. The next day, they made it clear that she wouldn't approach her unless it was something related to the order. She didn't want to be friends with her after asking if they wanted to have a baby and trying to touch her after saying no.

The redhead shook her head. “No, I was just thinking about something else.”

“What?” she asked, curious. “Were you thinking about something inappropriate? Seeing Alfonse shirtless is very shocking. It happens to me,” he replied, smiling mischievously.

Vicky punched his shoulder, blushing. “It's not that,” she replied, pouting.

“I was joking,” the man with the silver hair said, looking at her. “Tell me.”

“It's just silly.”

“I don't believe it, if you were so thoughtful about it,” the Prince of Embla replied, looking at her with his purple eyes and that softness she was known for. Since he was freed from the curse, he no longer wore that mask.

Vicky looked away for a moment. “I was thinking… you two are very different.”

“Do you realize it now, after all this time?” he asked, smiling.

Vicky made a face. “Well, I knew that. But… I was comparing you to the sun and the moon.”

“Oh,” the man with the silver hair replied, feeling curious. “I guess Alfonse is the sun, and I'm the moon.” The redhead nodded. “That makes sense. It makes sense to me, too, if I think about it.”

“Hmmm…”

She heard footsteps, so they both turned around. She could see that the Prince of Askr was annoyed, but his expression changed when their eyes met. This meant he had spoken to Seiðr again. “What were you saying?” he asked, because he wanted to know what the conversation was about.

“Well, I was comparing you to things,” Vicky said quietly, noticing the nature of Vanaheimr surrounding them. “To the sun and the moon.”

“That's an interesting comparison. People have always thought of the sun as something warm and positive, and the moon as something cold but close. There are old stories that say the sun and moon were close together, but separated after they fell in love with the stars,” Alfonse began to explain, feeling more relaxed as he started to tell the truth. “But those are stories made up for children. For adults, it could be said that it's the story of two warriors who fell in love with a woman.”

“Oh, there's a similar one in Embla,” the Prince of Embla replied, thinking about it. “It's more of a chonicle. It's about the prophetess Gróa and her lovers, Aurvandil and Valdar.”

Vicky blinked, looking a bit annoyed. Gróa. What did that name sound like to her? “And what happened to them?” she asked, curious.

“Valdar died young, so Gróa and Aurvandil got married and had a son. But Aurvandil served the Aesir, so he died on one of his missions. They decided not to tell Gróa, but she was very upset. Or at least, that's what the story goes.” Bruno made a face.

“It's pretty much the same in Askr. It's strange, but the two kingdoms are so similar, yet so different,” the Prince of Askr said. He was clearly enjoying this interesting conversation.

“But… What happened to the son?” the summoner then asked, still thinking hard.

“It's not mentioned much,” the Prince of Embla replied. “Although historians have theories that he probably started a family or simply died. The truth is that Zenith has been around for a long time,” he said.

“Long and often incomplete,” the Prince of Askr said. “Back to the point… Why did you think that?” the blue-haired man asked, looking at her.

“I don't know. The truth is the first thing that came to mind when comparing you,” she replied, slightly moving the fabric of his jacket. “I don't know if I can be compared to anything…” she said quietly.

“Oh, actually,” said the Prince of Embla, causing the summoner to blink. “You are the stars.”

“The stars?” she asked, confused.

Bruno smiled a little. “The stars are the connection between the sun and the moon. It makes them aware of both.”

“I didn't think you would use romantic metaphors,” Alfonse said, smiling. Bruno smiled. “What he means is that we wouldn't have achieved what we have without you. We have a big debt with you, and we want to pay it forward forever.”

“True, but that doesn't change the fact that we feel a debt,” the Prince of Embla said. “It's genuine, and we love it.”

Vicky looked down, blushing, as both men stroked her cheeks. “What did you say to Seiðr?”

She felt Bruno and Alfonse look at each other. “Don't worry,” said the Prince of Askr. “Now she knows not to approach you in the wrong way.”

Vicky made a face and nodded. “I hurt her with the Breidablik.”

“She deserved it,” the man with the silver hair said, looking at them. “The commander is calling us. Shall we go?”

The prince and the summoner nodded, and the three of them went towards the group. Vicky thought that she had brought together the sun and the moon.
