Kitty was at Minho’s family’s party and was currently chatting with Eunji, who was holding baby Seoyeon, but her gaze kept drifting to Minho. It’s been a year since she realized her feelings for Minho and they’ve only grown since then. Minho was still in his playboy era, he said he was better off being last summer, and it was killing Kitty inside.
Even though she was in a conversation with Eunji, her gaze kept moving to Minho. He was talking to some model his father invited. Seeing all these models and influencers gushing about Minho and clearly interested in him makes Kitty die a little inside. She couldn’t take the sight anymore so she excused herself from her conversation with Eunji, who gave a smirk and reassurance pat on the arm, and walked outside.
It seemed the weather in Seoul matched with Kitty’s upset mood as it was heavily raining. She didn't have anything to cover up herself, but she had to get away and clear her head. So, she crossed her arms to keep herself warm and walked out in the rain.
Minho was bored. A model came up to him and he was trying to move on from his feelings for Kitty, but no matter how many girls he goes out with and talks to, his feelings for her never go away. The girl was talking to him about nonsense and never shutting up.
He looks around to find where Kitty was. He previously saw her talking to his sister-in-law, Eunji, but now she wasn’t there anymore.
“Minho?” the girl asked.
He turned his attention back to the girl and apologized, “Sorry, I have to go ask my sister-in-law something.”
“Can’t it wait till later?” she asked.
“No, it’s too important,” he said, shaking his head and walking away to head over to Eunji. She smiled once she noticed Minho coming her way.
“Hi, Minho,” she greeted.
“Hey, Eunji,” he smiled. “I was wondering where Kitty went since I saw you two talking earlier.”
Eunji smirked. It was no secret the two had strong feelings for each other and the whole family hopes eventually the two will get together.
“I saw she went outside,” she said and Minho nodded.
He walked outside where he saw it pouring rain. He suddenly remembered the time they were out in the rain when the meeting with her halmoni and Jiwon went horribly. He remembers how he comforted her in the rain and how easily she fitted in his arms like she belonged there. He hopes she wasn’t hurt or upset and that’s why she went outside in the rain. He also remembered she wasn’t wearing any kind of jacket to protect her as she was only wearing a casual green dress.
“Covey!” he yelled out as he stepped out into the rain to look for her. He wandered around and started calling out her name.
“Kitty!” he yelled when he suddenly spotted her in the distance.
“Covey!” He chased after her but she kept walking away. He was confused why she was still walking away and started jogging to catch up to her.
It took a few more times of him calling her name before he finally caught up to her.
“Kitty! What’s wrong?” he asked as he got in front of her so she would stop walking away from him.
Kitty looks at him as the rain pours down on them and she can’t help but admire how he looks as he did the last time they were in the rain with his hair slicked back. Minho did the same thing and admired her and found her so beautiful with her hair plastered to her face.
“I’m fine, Minho,” she said. “Go back to the party and have fun with that model girl you were flirting with earlier.”
Minho stared at her for a moment as it took him a second to think of who she was talking about before thinking about the girl who wouldn’t stop talking. “What- why would I go back to the party to talk to her?”
“I don’t know nor do I care!” her voice cracked as she spoke with tears mixing the rain running down her face.
Even though Minho was confused about what she was talking about, he cared about her crying as that made his heart ache.
“I can't do this anymore, Minho!” she cried. “I tried so hard to be your friend and respect your decisions. I really do respect it as I understand Stella, Esther, whatever she goes by, to mess with your head and heart. But I can’t stand by the sidelines watching you flirt with these girls or even coming to save you from a few dates, but it breaks my heart every time and I have to pretend that it doesn’t mean anything to me.”
“What are you saying Covey?” Minho asked, holding his breath.
Kitty took a breath before revealing, “I love you,” and then quieter, but Minho heard it loud and clear. “I’m so in love with you, Minho Moon.”
Minho closed the distance between the two and cupped her cheeks. He wiped the rain and tears off her cheeks and started gently rubbing his thumbs against her cheeks.
“You think it’s hard for you? It’s unsufferable for me to only be friends with you. It was painful for me to watch you get back together with Dae when he kept lying to you and later Yuri when she ignored you after kissing you. The only thing was getting through was being there for you whenever you needed,” Minho said.
“But you said it was only a crush,” she said, recalling their conversation outside the Korean BBQ restaurant.
“I lied. I knew you won’t reciprocate or were not ready yet, but I didn’t want to make it awkward for you, even if it meant putting my feelings aside,” he confessed.
“Do you still have feelings for me though?” Kitty quietly asked.
Minho smiled, “I’m so in love with you, Katherine Song-Covey.”
Kitty grinned at him using her line and decided to reuse his line on the plane as a joke, “A little bit or a lot?”
Minho chuckled and said, “Definitely a lot.”
He pulled her in so their bodies could be pressed together and kissed her. Kitty raised onto her tiptoes and smiled into the kiss as she felt the butterflies in her stomach and gripped his wet shirt at his waist. Minho moved his hands to her waist while Kitty’s hands moved to grip his hair.
Their lips moved against each other as the rain continued to pour down on them.
