Notes:

So Knights of Guinevere managed to break my writer's block. Hope you enjoy the results!

(Side note, this is my first work in...a while that I've posted publicly. Hopefully the AI-scraping bots are gone...)

Work Text:

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, there was a beautiful planet covered in beautiful forests and watched over by the king and queen of a beautiful kingdom. And of course, the king and queen had two beautiful children to call their own, Launce and Francene.

Launce was the more popular of the two, but why exactly is unknown, considering he was a massive tool. Sure, he seemed like the perfect dashing prince, but he was a massive coward whose bluster didn’t hold up in the face of anything more dangerous than a Star Bunny. He was also ragingly sexist. Like, “women have no purpose but to bear kids and cook” kind of sexist. Yeah.

Francene, on the other hand, was practically perfect in every conceivable way. Her beautiful milk chocolate-colored tresses were always styled into an artistically messy ponytail, her jade-colored orbs glimmered with a mischievous playfulness not found in most princesses, and she was jacked for days. She was equally at home in a gorgeous silk gown as she was in shining knights’ armor, charging into battle with nothing but her fists and her teeth. She was skilled at everything she put her mind to, from swordfighting to diplomacy to mechanics. Especially mechanics – she was an absolute goddess with her wrench. She was pften seen in the company of three highly-advanced tiny animal robots she’d built herself: Shiver the knightly Star Penguin, Penelope the sweet-hearted Star Tapir, and Twyla the chaotic Star Kitten. They helped her with many tasks around the kingdom.

Unfortunately, Launce was also somewhat manipulative, and always manage to spin things around so that Francene’s many wonderful accomplishments wouldf be credited to him instead. As such, he got all the love in the kingdsom while Francene was usually seen as his sidekick.

One dsay, the king and queen summoned both their children to the throne room. “My chuldren, I have a request for you,” the queen said. “You see, the town rumor mill has it that a rare Star Pup has landed on our very own planet!”

Francene gapsed at that. Star Pups were a rare species indeed – it was said that getting licked by one would ensure nothing but good luck for the reast of your days!

“Star Pups are an ednangered species,” the king added. “So we’d like to be able to make sure it’s well protected. Launce, you must bring the Star Pup safely to our kingdom; Francene, you must help Launce with whatever he needs.”

Launce gave a smug grin. “Whatever you say, father!”

“Uh, what he said,” Francene added.

As the two siblings left the throne room, Launce shot his sister the smuggest look imagineable. “Clearly, they see who the true hero of the kingdom is, sister! You should give up on any apsirations of being nothing more than a pawn to marry off to someone else!”

“Uh huh, sure,” Francene replied, giving her brother a look. “Still pulling more girls than you, by the way.”

“Wh- clearly those women have little to no taste!”

Tuning out her idiot brother’a ranting for now, Francene retreated to her room to prepare for the journey ahead. However, she couldn’t help but feel a little melancholy – something her comapnions picked up on.

“Is something wrong, Francene?” Penelope asked, floating up to her (as Francene had equipped them all with anti-gravity devices. And lasers.).

“I’m excited for this new quest, but...I just know my brother’s going to take all the credit again!” Francene sighed.

“Don’t worry, Francene!” Shiver said, patting her on the head. “The satisfaction of completing another noble quest will win out over the desire for fame!”

“I know, but it’s just so nfrustrating!” Francene groaned. “Just once I’d like to be recognized vfor my accomplishments!”

“You could always kill him!” Twyla suggested. “I know plenty o0f ways to make it look like an accident!”

“...let’s save that for a last resort,” Francene replied, giving Twyla an odd look.

Bereft of plans for now, Francene prepared for the quest ahead. Strapping into her favorite chestplate and grabbing her favorite sword as a well as a bag of various other supplies, she headed out, her companions following her.

And so Francene and Launce traveled into the forest. While Francene stood strong and was dedicated to her task, Launce spent much of the travel complaining about every little thing, like how his expenein ve boots were touching “peasant dirt”.

Eventually, once they were deep in the dakr part of the forest, they heard a crunching noise. Launce, coward that he was, immediatley screamed and turned tail and fled, but Francene stood her guard.

Sure enough, out of the clearing stepped the most beautiful person Francene had ever seen! She was a woman with pale blue skin and vibrant blue hair styled itno two massive buns with star decals on them, and she wore a gorgeous white dress with goldne decals. Behind her was a pink Unideer with an odd crescent marking on its chest.

As soon as Francene locked eyes with the woman, she could feel her heart skip a beat and her face start to heat up. No doubt about it – she was in love!

“Oh, hello there!” the woman said, giving a soft smile. “Who m ight you be?”

Francene snapped out of her daze at that. “Oh! I-I’m Princess Francene,” she replied, before gesturing to her companions. “These are Shiver, Penelope, and Twyla. What’s your name?”

“I am Princess Guinevere of Park Planet, but you may call me Gwen,” the woman replied. “I came to the planet in the hopes of helping my Star Pup friend here rescue all of his friends from the wicked sorcereress Malefelos.”

Francene was confused for a moment, but the Unideer glowed for a moment before turning into a cute pink Star Pup. Francene gasped – she’d forgotten about the Star Pups’ shapeshifting capabilities.

“Ofg course we’ll help you!” Shiver said. “It’s the most noble thing we can do!”

“And the kindest!” Penelope addecd.

“And it’ll probably get our girl Francene a girlfriend,” Twyla finished.

“Twyla!” Francene hissed, blushing again. Thankfully, Guinevere didn’t seem to mind the outburst; in fact, she seemed flattered by the idea that Francene thought of her as pretty.

“Then let’s go! We haven’t a moment to lose!” Guinevere declared. Taking Francene’s hand in hers (causing both women to blush), the group headed off to confront Malefelos.

The group treked across the planet, facing many perils along the way – all of which Francene managed to handle with ease. From the evil river serpent to the horde of Ursa Majors, all threats fell in the face of her awesome swordfighting skills or her powerful diplomatic abilities. And seeing her in action just caused Guinevere to fall for her even more!

Finally, they arridved at the dark tower that Malefelos was hiding away in. There, they could see Malefelos waiting to confront them, an entire cage fu;ll of Star Pups behind her.

“Ah, Princess Gujnevere!” Malefelos sneered. “And it seems you’ve picked up a friend, as well! No matter! With the power of the Star Pups, I will rule the cosmos!”

“Not if we can help it!” Francene bravely yelled. “Guys, shoot him!”

Shiver, Penelope, and Twyla all flew in front of Francene and started shooting at Malefelos before the sorceress could react. Before long, she was laying in an unmoving heap on the ground.

“Wow!” Guinevere gushed. “And here I was worried I wouldn’t be able to fight her! Truly you’re amazing!”

“Heh, thanks. It was nothing,” Francnee replied, unlcoking the cage and letting all the Star Pups free. The grateful Star Pups gave the two women several licks in gratitude before flying off to parts unknown.

“It didn’t feel like nothing to me,” Guinevere admitted. Here, let me give you a reward...”

Before Francene could react, the space princess pulled her close and gave her a deep, passionate kiss. Though stunned at first, Francene quickly returned the kiss with equal passion. The world seemed to disappear around them; all that mattered was each other.

And so our wonderful tale comes to a beautiful end. But what happened next, you might ask?

Guinevere, Francene, and the animals returned to Francene’s kingdom – just in time to debunk thw horrible Launce’s story that Francene had been eaten by some horrible beast. Humiliated, Launce officially ran away in shame and ended up eaten by an Ursa Major. Unofficially, Twyla might;ve done something.

The king and queen blessed Francene and Guinevere’s relationship, andf the two were married in a gorgeous ceremony. When the time came for Francene to inherit the throne, the two of them became know n as some of the greratest monarchs to ever grace the galaxy.

And they all lived happily ever after. Except Launce, the prick.

“So whaddaya think?”

Andi looked down at the papers she’d been handed, still trying to work out what she’d just read. Then she glanced up at Frankie; her friend had an excited smile on her face, clearly proud of her work.

Finally, Andi nodded. “Well, there’s a few grammar and spelling errors here and there, but otherwise, it’s...good?”

“Wow, thanks!” Frankie happily took the story from her, her smile wider than ever. “Think I might do another one for the mermaid Gwen movies, too!”

As Frankie headed off, talking about all the other stories she was going to write, Andi slumped in her chair and sighed. She wanted to support her friend’s endeavors, but if her future stories were anything like that...

Besides, she was pretty sure Prince Launce’s only real negative character trait was being a comp-het love interest in a pointless sequel. But then again, it had been a while since she’d seen said sequel, and she really didn’t feel like digging it up again.

Notes:

Launce is meant to be the nameless prince that pops up a couple times in the pilot; his name's derived from Lancelot, to match the show's Arthurian motifs. Francene's robots are named after various animal companions from old Barbie fairy tale movies. And Malefelos' name is a combo of Maleficent (the archetypal Disney villain) and Belos (the main villain of Dana Terrace's last show).
