Work Text:

Capitano wasn't really sure how he ended up like this; Sure, he now knows not to feed strange cat like amalgamas in dark allies, but who would have thought they would follow him home!

(He totally did NOT kidnap them)

The other harbinger surely would approve their presence in Her Majesty's palace, they're adorable!

“Absolutely not.” Pierro just took one look before making his decision. Capitano stared silently from where he was sitting on the other side of the meeting room table, the other harbingers also didn't dare to speak.

“But-”

“Capitano, no!” Pierro stood and slammed his hand on the table “And don't you dare think that making puppy dog eyes will work this time.”

Pierro started pacing in front of the table “Do you have any idea what kind of threat this could cause? What if they are creatures from the abyss? What if they're actually carnivorous and feed on humans? What if th-”

“Dottore, Xanax.” The Fair Lady turned dramatically towards the doctor who was already searching his lab coat's pockets.

Capitano turned towards the amalgama he was holding, frowning underneath his helmet.

“Pierro does have a point, Capitano.” Arlecchino finally decided to speak up, it wasn't the first time The Captain brought back to the Palace potentially dangerous “animals” just because they were cute; she crossed her legs before continuing “We don't know where they came from.”

“Finally! Someone sound!” Pierro shouts from where he is being wrestled by Signora and Dottore to take his damned anxiolytics.

“Okay everyone, how about we vote?” The ever diplomatic Pantalone proposed “Who approves of Capitano keeping the…cat? amalgamas things?”

Capitano hastily raised his hand.

Dottore raised his hand, in the name of science, of course.

Signora raised her hand, in the name of free entertainment, of course.

Tartaglia raised his hand “This could be fun, comrades.”

“You have no idea.” Scaramouche raised his hand.

Capitano looked around the meeting room, hoping for any of the other harbingers to accept his simple request…then…just like that…he heard her…BECAUSE SHE WAS SNORING SO FUCKING LOUDLY.

“The asleep can't object! It's a yes from Columbina!” Tartaglia shouted from the other side of the table like it was a wrestling match.

“Hmm,” Pantalone hummed, eyes still closed and smile devoid of any type of kind emotions “Now, who votes for no?”

The Banker, Pulcinella, Pierro, and Arlecchino all raised their hands.

While Sandrone couldn't care less and abstained from voting.

Capitano started chuckling like a schoolgirl, he couldn't believe this! They won!

Dottore didn't waste any seconds to celebrate and immediately walked toward the amalgama to examine it more closely.

“I regret my vote.” Dottore kept strangling the poor amalgama, but strangely enough it looked like a game to the creature. “Captain, there's no way you are keeping these little shits.”

Suddenly the meeting room doors swung open, hitting the wall with force. “I OBJECT!” The Tsaritsa made her flashy entrance.

“Then she said: gatos are like onions, onions have layers, gatos also have layers.” The cat amalgama said between bites of their berry.

“That doesn't make anything sense, why are you living with him now? Did they agree?” The woman asked.

“No,” the gato picked another plump yellow berry from the plate “They started fighting and screaming at each other, Capi brought us out of the room and it's been a week since then, the others said nothing…”

“Yet.”

“Yet.” The gato repeated “So, I guess it's fine, we can stay there for some time!”

An awkward silence followed their conversation, the woman fidgeted with her hands and the cat amalgama tried to finish the entire plate of berries in one go.

“You should go, it's starting to get dark.” She said, really wanting to get this silence over quickly.

“Yep, yep, yep.” The creature cleaned off the plate and jumped off the brick wall where they were sitting.

The woman waved at the gato as they left “bye, baby.”

“Love you, mama.”
