now thinking about it... i would much rather sleep with my jug than have a drink with you

Work Text:

He couldn’t believe it. Aurelius was actually inside a girl’s flat. And she was standing right in front of him.

“Here, let me take that for you,” she said with a wink, reaching a hand out to take his jug.

Aurelius snatched it away. “I’ll keep it with me, if you don’t mind. It’s safer, thank you.” He pursed his lips, and tried to smile, showing too many teeth. He eyed the living room with barely contained distaste. It was the size of his parent's (and his) store room.

“I’ll make us a drink.” The woman smiled sultrily, trailing a finger on the couch between them.

“I’ve got a drink here, for both of us,” Aurelius called, holding up his jug, and rather desperately added, “I filled it specially for this!”

“It’s better than that!” The woman announced, and from the kitchen came the sound of cups lightly thudding and a bottle being opened with a pop.

Aurelius curled his lip and scowled. Something caught his eye next to him - a fluffy coat was hanging on a peg on the nearest wall. He felt the fabric. It was yak.

He looked around cautiously, and noticing that the woman’s back was turned to him still, he opened the coat and sniffed the inside so his lungs filled with the scent of whatever sweet perfume it had clinged to.

“Now that is nice.” Aurelius muttered to himself, like he was trying a new favourite food. His nose wrinkled in delight as he sniffed frantically at the coat’s inside.

“What in Jove’s name are you doing? Get your filthy nose out of my coat, boy!”

He span around - the woman stood behind him with her hands on her hips and her mouth turned downward.

Man. Man. And for the coat, well, I was simply inspecting. You know, you can never be too sure of fakes… especially in this town.” He chuckled nervously.

She raised her eyebrows, waiting for an answer on why he had been acting like a dog finding a treat hidden somewhere inside the coat.

“It’s definitely 100% yak.”
