Chapter Text
A man wakes up in a lab. He has no idea his name or anything about himself. He's in a hospital bed.
There's machines all around him. However, the room is empty of people. He sits up and looks around. He's confused. He sees himself in the reflection of a machine.
Brown, long, dirty hair, a beard, and a haunted look in his eyes. For some reason, he knows he needs to get out of there. But he doesn't know why.

Meanwhile, at the 118.
After Chimney became captain, they obviously had to fill his spot with a new paramedic. It took a good few tries before they landed on a guy named Alex. It was his first day.
Alex was by himself cleaning the firetrucks, as instructed, when that man walks in. The man doesn't know why he walked there. It just.. felt right to him.. almost like an instinct..
"Can I help you sir?" Alex asks politely. "Uh.. I'm not sure.." The man says, his voice horse from unuse. "Whats your name? I'm Alex." He says. The man looks around for a fake name. He sees the memorial on the wall. And a picture of a man who looks oddly similar to himself..
"Robert.. w.. Nash?.." He mutters the name out. He walks towards the memorial. "Yeah.. I heard he was a great guy.." Alex says. The man just stares at the picture.
The man looks around. "Is there anyone else here?" He asks quietly. "Yeah, they're probably sleeping. Or working out." Alex says. The man sniffs. "Making lunch?" He asks, looking up at the kitchen. A weird hint of familiarity in his eyes.
"So, where did you come from?" Alex asks. "...A lab.. I think.. I don't know.." the man says, still confused. "This name feels important." He says.
Alex feels the mans pulse, his curiosity giving way into paramedic mode.. normal.. his pupils too.. "So, why come here?" Alex asks, trying to occupy the guy as he examines him. "...It felt right." The man says. "Right.. that can happen to people with amnesia.. their bodies remember things their minds don't.." Alex explains. "Why don't we get you to a hospita-" He starts. The man backs up, scared. "No. No hospitals. I don't wanna go back." He pleads.
Alex frowns. "Okay. But we need to see why you have amnesia.." He says. The man looks around. He sees a guy pulling weights. He sees the name on the guys badge. Evan Buckley. The man tilts his head. The name does something to him. "...I feel like I know that man." He says, pointing to Buck.
"Okay, well lets go see if you do." Alex says, walking over to Buck and briefly explaining the situation before Buck walks over with Alex. "So he just doesn't remember anything?" Buck asks, walking alongside Alex. "No. Nothing." Alex says. They walk over to the man. Whos reading the memorial in front of him.
"Sir?" Buck asks. The man turns towards Buck.
Buck's eyes widen instantly. Despite being a lot more rough on the eyes, he recognizes the face of his captain anywhere. He can't even form words. "You good?" Alex asks, confused. Buck's mouth opens but no words come out. Instead, tears do.
"Why do I feel like I know you?" The man asks. Buck feels his heart sink. "You.. do.." he finally finds his voice. Though broken and quiet. "Alex.. I need you to go tell everyone about this guy.. before they come down and see him.." He mutters to the rookie. Alex does so and goes to find everyone.
After explaining. First Eddie comes down, "so this guy just has no memo-" He blinks. Almost as if he can't exactly believe his eyes. "Buck what the hell.." he says. "I.. I don't know.." Buck mumbles back. The others come down and have very similar reactions.
The man feels weird with all the eyes on him. "Why are you all staring at me like I'm a ghost?" He asks quietly. "Your supposed to be dead.." a woman, Hen, says.
"How the hell are we going to explain this.." Eddie says. "What? We can't tell anyone, are you crazy!?" Hen says. "Well, I hate to say it, but he has a point.." Chimney says, finally finding his voice. "And who are we planning to tell that we're seeing a dead man alive?" Hen snaps. "His wife.." Buck says, finally looking away from the man.
"...Oh crap she's supposed to come down to the station for lunch.." Hen says. "Which is in.. oh.. no.. she's coming this way.." Hen mutters out.
The man turns his head and sees a woman walking towards the group. She's confident. She's smiling. And she's got this look to her, like she doesn't take sh-t from anyone. And.. the man feels like.. he knows her.. more than he does the others..
"Athena.." Hen says, leading her away from the man so she can explain, as best she can.
"Who.. Who is she?" The man asks quietly. "Thats Athena Grant.." Buck whispers. The man swallows. He gets a small flash of something in his mind..
