Hello guys! This is my first fanfict , i'm not a very good writer but I really wanted to share what I had in my head with others. And it came up a redemption arc of some sort??? Anywho!! This is a work in progress and it might have some grammar mistakes. I really wish that you will like the first chapter and you can send me in the comments some recommendations on how to improve!! Chapter Text

  There was a rainy night in Austria and Nurmengard was as lonely as ever. Gellert escaped from the shackles long ago and the old castle recognised him as its creator , and technically speaking , he was in house arrest. He was lying on a couch by the fireplace , reading a book until a familiar red bird with golden shining wings came through a broken window.

   That was Fawkes, Albus’s phoenix , who gently offered him a letter.

“Why would Albus Dumbledore write me a letter after so many years..?” The old dark wizard questioned the bird , even if he knew that it couldn’t respond and the bird touched its beak against the letter , insisting him to read it and then just gently put the bird away and opened the letter.

  “ The 1st of October 1981

Dear Gellert,

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately your niece and nephew got attacked by Death Eaters, although we found their young son , Lux, scared and tearful underneath the couch as he was the one who had seen the tragedy and luckily escaped unharmed. 

 I thought that writing to you first would be best because you are his only family after your aunt, Bathilda Bagshot. I trust you more with the boy than her because I have known you for a long time and I believe that time made you change , old friend.

Would you like to come on friday afternoon to the Ministry of Magic to get the boy under your wing? If not , we are forced to leave the boy in the hands of Wool’s Orphanage. May this letter find you in great health and I wish you all the best.

                                 With Kind regards, Albus Dumbledore.”

Gellert was utterly shocked by the letter and read it three more times, his expression was unreadable as his mind raced with mixed feelings. 

On one hand , the news of his niece and nephew was troubling , but on the other hand knowing that his great nephew Lux, was alive and unharmed brought him a sense of relief.

He pondered over his decision , considering the circumstances. The thought of his great nephew growing up in a muggle orphanage amongst muggle children filled him with reluctance. After a few moments of contemplation, he took a parchment to write a reply back to Albus.

   “ The 1st of October 1981

Dear Albus , 

I have received your letter concerning the situation with my niece and nephew, and the fortunate safe condition of my great-nephew,Lux. I must say, I’m relieved to hear that the boy is unharmed.

I am willing to take my great-nephew under my wing. I believe that given the circumstances,it would be in his best interests to grow up under my supervision. I shall be present at the Ministry of Magic as planned , on the day of Friday afternoon.

                                                                           Regards, Gellert Grindlewald “

   After he finished w riting, he folded the parchment and looked at the old phoenix , gently petting him at first and then he gently put the letter and said to the bird as he pet it.

“You know what to do, bring it to Albus.” he said and then let go , watching Fawkes disappear into the window as he flew into the dark rainy sky back to Hogwarts where Dumbledore was thinking in his office on what to do. What he would do with Severus who defected the death eaters and was seen as a threat and how to possibly protect the Potters from Lord Voldemort.

Fawkes arrived at his office and dropped the the letter on his desk and returned to his cage. Dumbledore in that moment was just thinking with a cup of tea , looking at the window. Trying to find a solution. A solution for the greater good.
