“The tree…” He quietly remarked, looking up at said tree. “…Our tree.” He placed a hand on it.
White Lily watched the knight, standing awkwardly.
White Lily Cookie had brought Silent Salt Cookie here after seeing the visions between him and Elder Faerie. She knew about the tree that was planted, but didn’t expect him to act like this towards it.
“…He protected it well…” Silent Salt said. He then looked at White Lily, who almost flinched because of his state. “When will he return? I want to… to talk with him again.”
“Ah- Do you mean Elder Faerie?” She asked, tilting her head. Silent Salt nodded, and White Lily answered his question, “He’s… busy. Very busy.”
“I will wait for as long as I need for him.”
White Lily just nodded in response, looking around. She doesn’t know how to tell him, she’s never been good at explaining. There’s also the fact that she doesn’t want to be smited by a beast cookie.
“I will be sure to tell him if I see him!” White Lily chuckled.
~~~!!!
“The tree has begun to bloom, my friend.”
“Ah, yes… It will bear fruit, for the next virtues.”
The Salt of Solidarity looked at the tree, admiring it.
He and Elder Faerie planted this tree together, and he’s willing to protect it if he didn’t live so far from it. He would never forgive himself if it was ruined.
Elder Faerie lightly chuckled, and moved closer to the edge of the gazebo to stand right next to Salt.
“You have a way of praising in silence.” He commented. “You do it plenty. It’s not a negative thing at all, though.”
“I enjoy the silence sometimes.” Salt replied. “Most especially when it comes to you.”
“Your way with words…” Elder Faerie said, looking at the tree.
“…I should be heading out now.” Salt sighed.
“Not even for tea, my friend?” Elder Faerie looked at him.
“I apologize. Next time we meet.”
“I’ll await you. Make sure to tell me you’re here, I can’t keep you waiting.”
“You never keep me waiting.”
~~~!!!
Silent Salt took a walk around the Faerie Kingdom. It has been years since he has been there, so he wants to catch up with everything he missed. He saw a faerie cookie, and walked up to them.
The said faerie cookie looked at him in response, and froze in fear.
“…Hello.” He greeted the cookie.
“Hello, sir! When did you get here?” The faerie shakingly spoke.
“I came here with White Lily Cookie… she seems known around here, yes?”
“Ah, correct! Any friend of White Lily is a friend of ours!” The faerie smiled and nodded.
“…I have heard that phrase before. Is White Lily your new ruler in the Faerie Kingdom?”
“Yes, she is! The Elder passed down his role to her.”
“Is The Elder safe?”
“In a way…”
~~~!!!
“I apologize for everyone’s behavior, my friend.” Elder Faerie said, bowing down. “This is only their second time seeing you.”
“Don’t. I understand.” Salt shook his head. “I would be wary of an armor-clad cookie.”
“I wouldn’t, but I believe that is just my small bias.”
“Hah…”
“But a friend of mine is a friend of the Faerie Kingdom.” Elder Faerie smiled and nodded.
“You should be careful with such a rule. One of your associates could notice the signs before you do.”
“Are you saying you will betray me?”
“If I ever did, I’d never forgive myself.”
Elder Faerie chuckled, and so did the Salt of Solidarity.
“You are a part of the kingdom no matter what, friend.”
~~~!!!
White Lily and Silent Salt sat at a table with some tea. It was better to learn more about each other—everything in the history books about Silent Salt has already been proven to be a lie, so there’s probably more that she doesn’t know!
“I’ve missed drinking tea…” Silent Salt mumbled. He took off his helmet, placing it next to him. He took a sip of the tea.
“Do you have a favorite kind of tea? Honestly, me and a friend love vanilla fragrant!” White Lily smiled.
“I enjoy lavender. It’s very… calming.” Silent Salt replied. “Vanilla fragrant tea does sound nice, though.”
“It is! I recommend it to anyone who asks for what tea to test out.” She takes a sip of her own tea.
“I have been needing more tea options.” He nodded. “Do you have any other friends that aren't Elder Faerie?”
“Yes! One of my best friends for a long while is Pure Vanilla. I’ve known him since my school days.” White Lily explained. “My other friends are… We are having a small problem between us. Curiosity killed the cake…”
“…I understand.”
“…”
“…”
“…Want more tea?” White Lily picked up the tea kettle.
~~~!!!
“What is this?” The Salt of Solidarity said, picking up a biscuit.
Elder Faerie smiled. “Bellflower biscuits. It’s a common treat here for us faeries.”
“…How have I not gotten these before?” He said after taking a bite of the biscuit. “I should pack some to bring back.”
“Feel free. There’s plenty.” Elder Faerie took a drink of his tea.
The Salt of Solidarity and Elder Faerie sat in silence for however long it was, just drinking the tea and eating the biscuits.
“What tea do you like, my friend?” Elder Faerie spoke up.
“Rose tea is my favorite, personally.” He replied, setting the cup down.
“Ah, that is a good one. I love lavender.” The faerie looked into his cup.
“Lavender… That fits you.”
~~~!!!
Silent Salt sat in a lily field, the tip of his blade stabbing into the soil next to him. It was quiet.
Whenever he had a calm moment like this within the Faerie Kingdom, Elder Faerie was always next to him. He missed that cookie dearly and was still willing to wait for him.
He opened an eye, and saw a small glowing butterfly in front of him. His expression hidden by his helmet softened. He watched the butterfly on the flower.
“I am doing alright, my friend.” He said to the butterfly, as if it was speaking to him. “I await your return.”
The butterfly then fluttered up and landed on his hand that was on the sword. Silent Salt then closed his eyes again.
~~~!!!
“If I ever crumble, find me in a butterfly.” Elder Faerie said, making the flower crown in his hands.
“Oh, don’t talk like that.” The Salt of Solidarity sighed.
Elder Faerie chuckled. “It will happen one day, friend, but I’d never leave your side. Even in death.”
“Now you’ll have me dreaming of butterflies.”
“Hah…”
“If I crumble, bury me in a garden here,” He said, placing the flower crown he made on Elder Faerie’s head. “So I will stay with you forever.”
“I’ll have myself be buried alongside you.” Elder Faerie replied, smiling and placing his flower crown on the Salt of Solidarity’s head.
