Megan had two speeds: chaotic gamer gremlin and aggressively affectionate girlfriend.
Right now, she was firmly in gamer gremlin mode.
Her fingers flew across the keyboard, her Overwatch character darting across the screen. “Oh my GOD, my Ana just missed that sleep. BABE, CLIP THAT!” she yelled, even though her girlfriend wasn’t anywhere near the PC.
Chat immediately lit up with laughing emotes.
> CLIPP IT
> blame ana core
> megan nation RISE
“Shut up, chat,” Megan said, grinning. “You guys saw that, right? That was NOT a skill issue. That was my Ana being blind.”
As if summoned by the chaos, Yoonchae quietly slipped into the room carrying a small plate of sliced fruit. She placed it gently next to Megan’s mousepad without saying anything.
Megan instantly softened, eyes leaving the game for half a second. “Thanks, babe,” she said, letting her hand brush against Yoonchae’s just a second longer than necessary and whispered "You're welcome" before she left.
Chat absolutely lost it.
> WHO WAS THAT ANGELIC VOICE HELLO??
> did megan just say 'babe' or am i hearing things
> gf soft launch WHEN
> YESS MEGAN GIRL KISSER
Megan just smirked, popped a grape into her mouth, and unmuted her mic.
“Anyway,” she said, grinning mischievously. “Back to carrying this whole lobby on my back.”
Yoonchae was used to it by now.
When she first moved in, she worried she would constantly get in the way, but Megan insisted she loved having her around, even if all she ever did was silently bring her food and water like some kind of live-in NPC.
The internet had given her a nickname: Kitchen Ghost.
Whenever her voice was heard faintly in the background, chat exploded with “👻👻👻” spam.
Megan would roll with it every time.
“My emotional support kitchen ghost,” she would say dramatically. “Providing snacks and moral support so I can yell at teenagers online.”
Yoonchae would groan quietly in the next room, but Megan always caught the way her lips twitched into a small smile.
Later that night, after stream, Megan flopped onto the couch next to Yoonchae, sighing dramatically.
“They’re getting nosy,” Megan complained, resting her head on Yoonchae’s lap.
“Who?” Yoonchae asked, glancing down at her with that quiet, patient expression Megan loved so much.
“My chat. They’re demanding a Kitchen Ghost face reveal,” Megan said, mock-offended. “They’re out there making conspiracy theories about you. One person literally made a bingo card of what they think you look like. Half of them think you’re imaginary.”
Yoonchae snorted softly. “Maybe I am imaginary.”
Megan gasped. “Plot twist, my girlfriend’s a ghost haunting my apartment. Guess that’s why you’re so quiet.”
“Guess so,” Yoonchae said softly, but her hand automatically started playing with Megan’s hair, and Megan melted instantly.
“You know I’d show you off if you let me, right?” Megan said softly after a while.
“I know.”
“You’d be so loved,” Megan said honestly.
“I’d also combust,” Yoonchae replied flatly, but there was the faintest blush on her cheeks.
—
It was a random Tuesday evening when it happened.
Megan had just finished a particularly sweaty ranked session and was ranting about her DPS teammates while setting her headset down.
“Stream’s over, chat,” she said cheerfully, waving at the camera before clicking what she thought was the “End Stream” button.
She was wrong.
Still live to 17,000 people, Megan dramatically spun in her chair, saw Yoonchae standing at the doorway holding a towel, and beamed.
“My baby Yoonchip!” she said, hopping out of her chair and crossing the room in about two steps.
She wrapped her arms around Yoonchae’s waist, burying her face in her shoulder. “You smell like dish soap. I love you.”
Yoonchae blinked, startled but smiling softly. “I love you too, but you’re sweaty. Go shower.”
Megan gasped, mock offended. “Rude!” She stole a peck Yoonchae's lips anyway before skipping toward the bathroom.
Her phone started blowing up before she even got the shower running.
It was Lara, her best friend.
“Megan. MEGAN. You’re still live,” Lara said between wheezes of laughter. “You just hard-launched your girlfriend to 17k people.”
Megan froze. “WHAT?!”
Lara cackled. “Twitter already has clips. #MegansMysteryGirlfriend is trending. Congrats, you’re both famous now.”
“Oh my god,” Megan muttered, running back to her desk in full panic mode.
Chat was feral.
> WHAT DID WE JUST SAWW
> shes sooo gorgeous!
> THAT 'I LOVE YOU' THOUGH??
> ohh megan you bagged a baddie fr
> they're so disgustingly sweet chat im cryinggg
Megan finally, actually ended the stream and spun around, wide-eyed as she immediately run off to find her girlfriend.
Yoonchae was sitting on the couch, scrolling through her phone.
“I’m sorry!” Megan blurted immediately. “I swear I thought the stream was off, I would never just—”
“Megan,” Yoonchae said calmly, looking up.
"I'm really really sorry, it was an accident—"
"Megan, baby, look at me." Yoonchae cut off her rambling and cupped her girlfriends cheeks
Megan stopped and looked at her.
“It’s okay,” Yoonchae said softly. “Really.”
“You sure?” Megan asked, sitting down next to her, nervous. “Because I can totally do damage control. I can just say you’re my roommate—”
Yoonchae laughed quietly. “Meg, it’s fine. I don’t mind if they know. Just… as long as I don’t have to actually be on camera.”
Megan stared at her for a long moment, then broke into the biggest grin.
“You just made MegaNation’s entire year,” she said, pulling Yoonchae into a hug.
“You know I will always support whatever you do. I’m always here, and if you want to show me off, it’s fine by me too.” Yoonchae said, her thumb brushing gently over Megan’s cheek.
Megan’s eyes softened, her usual chaotic energy melting into something quieter. “God, you’re literally the best girlfriend ever,” she whispered. “Do you even know how crazy chat’s gonna go when I tell them? They’re gonna make so many memes. Like—MegaNation will have a collective meltdown.”
Yoonchae smiled, amused. “Then let them. I just care about you, Meg.”
Megan’s chest felt warm. She reached for Yoonchae’s hands and held them, squeezing gently. “You make me so soft, you know that? Like, I’m supposed to be this unbothered, gamer-girl menace online, but then you show up with your quiet little smile and suddenly I’m a puddle.”
“Good,” Yoonchae said simply, her lips twitching into a tiny smirk. “You’re cute when you’re a puddle.”
Megan groaned dramatically. “Don’t say that, I’m already down bad for you enough as it is.”
“You’re supposed to be,” Yoonchae teased, but her tone was gentle.
Megan tilted her head, her grin widening. “Actually… I’ve been waiting for the right time to show you off. Like, for real. You’re not just my girlfriend, Yoonchae, you’re my favorite person in the world. My amazing, caring, smart, funny girlfriend. And honestly, my fans deserve to know about you. They deserve to know that I didn’t just get lucky—I got the best girl alive.”
Yoonchae blinked, her usual calm demeanor cracking into a shy, bright smile. “Meg…”
Megan leaned closer, forehead resting against hers. “I know you don’t like being on camera, and I’ll never force you. But I want the world to know who makes me happiest. You.”
Yoonchae’s hand cupped Megan’s cheek, her thumb brushing over her lips. “I… I don’t even know what to say.”
“Say you’ll let me love you loud,” Megan teased, voice softening. “Say you’ll let me spoil you and tell everyone how amazing you are.”
“Of course I’ll let you, Megan.” Yoonchae said quietly, but there was a gleam in her eyes that Megan knew meant yes.
Megan’s grin softened into something almost vulnerable. “I love you so much, you know?”
“I know,” Yoonchae replied, voice warm and sure. “I love you more.”
Megan closed the small distance between them and kissed Yoonchae gently, slow, sweet, and full of all the words neither could say aloud.
When they finally pulled back, Megan whispered against her lips, “Okay… MegaNation’s gonna lose their minds.”
Yoonchae just smiled softly, resting her forehead against Megan’s. “Yeah. So are we.”
The next day, Megan went live with a deep breath and a mischievous smile.
“Okay,” she said into the mic. “So. You guys saw something last night.”
Chat immediately exploded.
“Yeah,” Megan said, pretending to look annoyed. “That was my girlfriend. Yes, she’s real. No, she’s not a figment of my imagination. Yes, she does, in fact, make the best tea on planet Earth. And if you’re mean to her, I’m uninstalling Overwatch live on stream. Got it?”
Chat flooded with heart emojis and “KITCHEN GHOST SUPREMACY” spam.
From the kitchen, Yoonchae’s quiet voice floated in: “I heard that.”
Megan grinned at the camera. “See? Kitchen Ghost speaks.”
From then on, Yoonchae became a beloved off-screen presence.
Even without showing her face, her quiet, soft voice had chat melting.
> 👻 KITCHEN GHOST QUEEN
> who even is this goddess
> BAE ALERT
Every time she handed Megan snacks, Megan couldn’t help but comment live.
“Thanks, babe,” Megan said into the mic one evening, popping a grape into her mouth. “See, chat? My Kitchen Ghost delivers not only snacks but also emotional support. 10/10 girlfriend, zero cooldown.”
> JUST WIFE HER UP DUDE
> play roblox with herr
> GIVE HER A SKIN IN OVERWATCH
Yoonchae rolled her eyes but smiled softly from the doorway. “You make it sound like I’m earning XP for just existing.”
“You are earning XP,” Megan said dramatically, leaning back in her chair. “Heart, soul, snack service, max level already.” She winked at the camera. “And yes, chat, she’s real. Not a bot. Not a ghost. Definitely the best thing that ever happened to me.”
Yoonchae quietly set down a glass of water, muttering, “Stop embarrassing me in front of the internet.”
“I’m not embarrassing you,” Megan argued, tucking a stray hair behind Yoonchae’s ear without even thinking. “I’m just… sharing my joy. Sharing my best human.”
> ohhhhh
> MEGAN IS SO LOVER GIRL
> WE LOVE YOU MEGAN'S GIRLFRIEND
Megan grinned at the camera before turning it down and turning her mic off, her voice lowering just enough for only Yoonchae to hear. “See? They adore you, babe. And honestly… I do too. Way more.”
Yoonchae’s cheeks tinted pink, but she leaned down to peck Megan’s cheek anyway. “You’re ridiculous.”
“And you love it,” Megan whispered back, looping an arm around Yoonchae’s waist. “Chat can keep their hearts, I’ve already claimed yours.”
Yoonchae laughed quietly, shaking her head. “You’re hopeless.”
“And that’s why I’m the chaotic gamer gremlin, and you’re my perfect, quiet NPC,” Megan said. “Deal with it.”
Yoonchae smirked, sliding her hand into Megan’s. “Deal. But only if you promise not to yell at your teammates while holding my hand like that.”
“Impossible,” Megan said, but her grin softened. “But I can try.”
And that’s how it went—every snack, every whisper, every tiny soft “babe” on stream became a moment fans couldn’t get enough of. Yoonchae never showed her face, but through her quiet presence and Megan’s chaotic love, she became legendary.
And every night, when the stream was off and the lights were low, Megan would curl up next to Yoonchae and murmur, “See? I told you they’d love you.”
And Yoonchae, cheeks pink but smiling softly, would say, “Yeah. But not as much as you do.”
