Work Text:

Footsteps padded on the busy streets of Seoul, the sound of heels and boots clacked upon the pavement as Mira and Rumi walked, hand in hand. Mira dressed in an oversized sweater with a skull on it and ripped black jeans and Rumi in a light purple tank top, and lightly colored jean shorts. In other words, total opposites.

Mira looked down at Rumi with a smile. “Why'd you wear heels to this?”

Rumi glanced up from her phone. “God forbid I want to look decent.”

“Decent, right.” Mira smirked. “And that's why you let your ungodly amount of hair down?” She wrapped her arm around Rumi's shoulders, twirling her finger around some of the other girl's lilac hair.

“I let my hair down so it's harder to recognize me, idiot. If it's not braided, people won't notice it's me.” Rumi nudged the taller woman as they walked into the local cafe, the bell above the door jingling as they walked in.

“Fair” Mira purred, keeping her arm wrapped around her girlfriend.

.
.

Once the couple had reached the counter and ordered their drinks, they sat in the back of the cafe to avoid any prying eyes.

Rumi twirled her finger around the rim of her cup, her lavender hair framing her downcast face.

“Hey, is something wrong?” Mira tilted Rumi's chin up.

“Just.. thinking. I guess.” Rumi muttered, looking to the coffee stained floor.

“About?” Mira raised a brow.

Rumi sighed. “I don't want to talk about it right now, it's too public..”

“Oh cmon', babe." Mira intertwined their fingers with her free hand. “What better place to talk, than in the back of the cafe, just you and me?”

“You're really not gonna let this go, huh?” Rumi muttered, her eyes darting around the suddenly very interesting ground.

“Nope, plus I want to know what's got that pretty face so down turned.”

Rumi barely mustered a smile at that, but it faded quickly once her thoughts slid back into place.

“Fine.. I'm just- thinking about last year.” Rumi mumbled, tensing a little.

Mira frowned, knowing exactly what she meant. “Is it still getting to you that badly? Baby, it was a year ago, we've made up and we've accepted you."

Rumi tensed a little more. “I know, I know.” she wiped her eye with her palm, forcing a smile. “It's stupid, it really shouldn't be eating me up this much but...” The forced smile faded. “I just can't get over the fact I hurt you, and-” She sniffled.

Mira shushed her. “Hey, hey, Rumi, it's okay. It wasn't your fault.” She wiped a stray tear from Rumi's face with her thumb.

Rumi took a few deep breaths, letting Mira comfort her. Mira continued. “That's it... It isn't your fault, alright? You're okay.”

Rumi sighed, her breathing returning to normal as she took a sip of her drink. “Yeah.. Thanks, Mir...”

“Look at me” Mira raised her hand from Rumi's chin to her cheek. “You may have hurt us but you looked damn good doing it.”

Rumi chuckled tearfully. “Mira..!”

Mira smiled in return. “There's that pretty smile. Would a cookie make you smile more? My treat.”

Rumi nodded. “Yeah. It would, but I can pay for my own cookie, it's no trouble-”

“Hush Nepo baby.” Mira removed her hands from her girlfriend, pointing upwards matter of factly. “I am buying you a cookie whether you like it or not!”

Rumi rested her chin on her palm with that iconic lopsided grin. “Fine fine, I'll allow it this time, but only because I'm sad. Next time, I'm paying.”

“Not if I beat you too it~.” Mira was already getting up to order the cookie, leaving Rumi watching her walk to the counter, with only one thing on both of their minds.

'I love her...'
