Day 4
Today's prompt: Set in another time.

Work Text:

It's been well over a year since Shion and Orfevre graduated from Tracen Academy. They moved in together to a rather big apartment in Tokyo, living a peaceful but certainly not uneventful life.

It was a cold night of October when Orfevre came back from her training just to find Shion laying on the couch covered in a dozen blankets. Orfevre stood next to the couch looking down at her sleeping lover. She didn't really understand how Shion got herself into this state in the first place, after all in the morning everything was fine.. or maybe she thought so.

Shion weakly opened her eyes. Seeing a blurry image of her Girlfriend above her made her mental even worse. Not only was she sick, which means no training or racing, but now Orfevre has to see her like this. "I didn't…" She murmured, but her voice was very weak and easily broke. "…I didn't know you were back already…"

Orfevre answered with silence, only putting her bag next to the couch. She then crouched and reached out a hand to Shion's face. "What even-"

"Oh nono!" Shion pulled her ears back and scooted away from Orfevre's hand. "Don't… I'm gonna be fine, you can't afford to be sick as well… just leave me be…"

Orfevre frowned her brows but didn't retract the hand. "Shion-"

"Please…" Shion closed her eyes. Even this little movement was extremely hard for her, every time she moved her head she felt dizzy. Her muscled weren't in the best shape as well, she felt so weak as if she could barely move. That's when she felt Orfevre's cold hand touch her forehead. She recoiled slightly. The cold hand was a stark contrast to Shion's feverous body temperature.

After few seconds Orfevre retracted her hand. "Let me take care of it. Relax."

"B-But…" Shion wanted to somehow stop Orfevre, but she was already gone. She just plopped down again on the couch, face first into the pillow. She was not in shape to argue anyway…

Orfevre quickly came back to Shion. Without hesitation she picked her up and made her way to the bedroom.

Luck wanted that as Orfevre picked Shion up, all the layers of blankets slipped back to the couch. Without the warm defence of the blankets, Shion started slightly shivering and clung herself harder to Orfevre. "It's so cold…"

It was in fact not cold. The apartment was a little above room temperature, but Shion's reaction made Orfevre only more… worried about her state. They both entered the bedroom and Orfevre gently laid down Shion on the sheets, immediately wrapping her in a duvet. She then turned around and went back to the kitchen.

Shion weakly clung to the sheets trying to recover the warmth that was so cruelly taken from her. Even though Orfevre tried to be gentle with her, the headache was just unbearable no matter how much she moved. Now, she was just laying there, weak and pathetic. After all Orfevre was taking care of her just because she had to… right?

While Shion was drowning in her own sick deprivation, Orfevre brought a steaming cup of tea with some medicine and put it on the night stand. She then sat next to Shion, between her and the night stand. "Sit up."

Shion tried to brace herself up, but through the sore muscles her elbows started to give in. As she was about to collapse, Orfevre caught her and slowly braced Shion against herself. "Ugh…" Shion muttered to herself and gave in, relaxing her muscles on Orfevre.

Orfevre supported Shion, sat her up straight and reached for the pill laying next to the tea. "It's for the fever."

Shion opened her eyes, reached out for the pill and glanced at the cup of tea. "C-an you pass me the tea to wash it down..?" With these words she put the pill in her mouth.

Orfevre picked up the tea and passed it to Shion. She struggled to hold the cup, so Orfevre helped her to swallow the tea. She then put the cup back on the night stand. "You need to get some sleep, it will help you heal."

Shion sighed weakly and slowly laid down, almost collapsing on the pillows at the end. "Y-You can go, I'm sure you have some paperwork to do…"

Orfevre once again answered with silence. She pulled up the duvet to cover Shion's shoulders and laid down next to her.

As Orfevre wrapped embraced Shion, she felt a weird sense of warm and safety around her… Shion fell asleep quicker than she noticed.
