you kill me (in more ways than one)

Summary:

"Jeez, did I come off too strong?"

"NO! No. . Definitely not." Vic blinked himself back into reality, laughing at the thought of how stupid he probably looked just staring like that. "If you let me stare any longer, I probably would've just asked you to kiss me." He laughed even harder at that, face tinted pink in embarrassment that he wasn't quite properly showing.

"Nobody's stopping you Fuentes, trust me."

Work Text:

Remnants of night in the broad sky were slowly fading away as the golden september sun rose to wake everyone living beneath it, proudly welcoming a new day as light engulfed the sky.

Birds sung, car engines hummed as they drove down the street, and even a few dogs barked here and there. The town outside of Kellin's apartment building was finally awake, and he heard every last bit of it as he stirred awake.

He turned to his side and cracked an eye open in an attempt to read the time on his sonic the hedgehog alarm clock, but proved unsuccessful when thin rays of sunshine beamed directly into his eyes as it seeped through the shades of his windows. Kellin groaned and rolled onto his other side, soon startling himself when he'd accidentally bumped into the calm body laying next to him.

Shit. . . Kellin had completely forgot that the night before had led to Vic spending the night. The night that had led to Vic curling up by his side and listing off movie after movie for them to watch until a said movie was watching them, and had led to this beautiful sight before his eyes. To put it simply, the boy laying beside him was all Kellin needed in order to get his eyes adjusted to the bright daylight invading his tiny home.

Before Kellin rolled out of bed, he gently reached for Vic's closest hand, eyes softening as his eyes wandered to the colorful doodles and drawings scattered over his arm, getting a better look now that Vic laid there shirtless.

He thought about the stories behind each one, the realization of why they were there, and the desire to erase them all. To strip him of his pain and replace it with something new, something better and brighter. Kellin sighed and pressed a kiss to Vic's hand, then his cheek, and although it seemed as if Vic would wake up if Kellin left the bed, he rolled out anyway.

It was only around 8 am when he finished washing away the hints of sleep left on him in the bathroom. He was still a bit groggy considering he'd never choose to wake up this early in any other situation, but he had this newfound sense of motivation  knowing that Vic was sound asleep in the next room. Knowing that his boyfriend was sleeping in his bed, soothed by the natural scent that Kellin stained his sheets with over time. Knowing that, how could he not make him a nice breakfast to wake up to?

After feeding the plants that grew on his balcony and turning the news on the tv, the volume just low enough to vaguely make out what the broadcasters were saying, Kellin rummaged through the pantry and his refrigerator for ingredients that'd contribute to his little breakfast dish before he got to work. Kellin was undoubtedly obsessed with cooking, and if he wasn't so infatuated with making art pieces, he definitely would've considered going to culinary school.

"Good morning. ." The sentence Vic spoke out sounded cut off, as if there was something else he wanted to say but couldn't exactly get it out. Kellin could identify that voice from anywhere, even though it was evidently laced with sleep.

"Goodmorning pretty boy! I was hoping you'd be asleep a little longer, I kinda wanted this to be a surprise for you. ." Kellin sat down a cup of tea on the dining table they would be eating at before sliding back over to the stove so he could flip the second pancake that was yet to be on Vic's decked out plate.

"I honestly. . didn't even expect you to be up so. . I guess this is a surprise in itself." Vic wiped his eyes as he slouched down into one of the chairs that'd been pushed into the dining table. From here he got the perfect view of Kellin finishing up their meals.

He saw the way he shuffled around the kitchen, making one thing and plating another, he saw the way he smiled as he flipped Vic's pancakes with enough expertise to not need a spatula, and he definitely didn't miss the ever so gentle shift of Kellin's features when he set their plates down, as well as his own mug of coffee and a bottle of syrup before sitting across from him.

"Hi," Kellin grinned.

"Hey. ." Vic tried to reciprocate it.

When he looked down at his food, he was greeted with a pancake that had bananas for eyes, blueberries for a mouth, and a dollop of whipped cream for a nose. In the tiny space of his plate that wasn't covered with food, 'love you!' was spelt out in chocolate syrup and there was a tiny strawberry slice that looked like a little heart. It completely contrasted with Kellin's plate, that only had cheesy eggs, sausage, and an avocado toast.

"Are you always this sweet? Or am I just getting lucky?" Vic couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he picked up the tiny heart shaped strawberry with his fork and ate it.

"I'd like to say I'm nice to everyone. . But I think I have a sweet spot for you." Kellin's head rested in his palm while he stabbed eggs and sausage onto his fork, occasionally catching glances at Vic when he wasn't paying attention.

Vic sat there in a band tank that barely fit him that Kellin let him borrow, and it honestly wasn't very often he got to see Vic's sunkissed skin almost completely bare like this. Although he was a little paler now that summer was reaching its final days, he still had faint tan lines from when the summer sun had shown no mercy on him.

"Hey I've been thinking about something. For awhile! But probably more so since we're like. . A thing now." Vic moved his hands around a little bit to visualize what "a thing" was, and it earned a tiny laugh out of Kellin. He didn't want to interrupt, so he simply nodded to signalize he was listening.

"You told me you used to sing right? Like in a band?" Vic sipped his tea after speaking, letting out an audible hum as the warmth of the tea engulfed him.

"Mhm. . Im surprised you remembered actually." Kellin's words were slightly muffled by the bite of toast in his mouth and despite that, his voice still noticeably went a little flat, however, he nodded again so Vic could keep going.

"Well. . Uhm. . I know I haven't exactly heard you sing before but. ." Vic looked visibly nervous now, as if his mind had finally woken up and processed what he was asking, who he was asking, and how he looked asking it. His lips remained slightly parted when he paused, trying to read Kellin's expression to determine if he should push on.

'If he looks uninterested I'll just shut up' he thought, but in completely contrary to his thoughts, Kellin's face didn't give away anything, in fact, his eyebrows rose as if indirectly asking him to continue.

"What, you're not just gonna stop there are you?"

"I was thinking about it." Vic huffed, although he originally intended on it coming out as an embarrassed laugh. God, he knew he was being weird, and as his face began to burn up, he thought he ought to just cut to the chase before Kellin started thinking that something was genuinely wrong with him.

"Sorry uhh. . I just wanted to know if you'd. . maybe be open to performing again. That's all." Vic looked back down at his plate, pushing some of the stuff around with his fork, though he wasn't sure if he was actually going to eat any of it as he was engulfed in a barely comfortable silence.

"With you?" Kellin's face finally filled with a little emotion. It was weird, like it had actually took him a couple of seconds to process what exactly Vic was asking.

Vic couldn't help but joke in reply "No, Jaime and Tony actually." Kellin's face dropped slightly as they stared at eachother, and Vic covered his mouth as if he'd said something really, really bad.

"KIDDING!! I was just kidding. ." He waved his hands around, as if saying 'no no no! that wasn't what I meant!' With his hands before he continued his sentence "But I mean. . I think all four of us playing a show would be pretty dope. You guys have at least try to get along."

"Yeah, but they're the ones who hate me. . . Am I wrong for trying to keep my distance?" Kellin's eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. He wanted to blame Vic, because their so called "hatred" for Kellin derived from whatever he'd said to them about him, but he ranted to Justin about Vic too, so could he really be that upset? Well, at least Justin didn't hate him. . .

"Maybe not, but. . yknow. . they're my friends Kellin. Especially if we're. . dating. . I just want them to get to know you a little bit. Who knows. . maybe they'll change their mind." Vic didn't speak with much optimism in his tone, but he hoped to still get the point across.

He said 'dating' as if he were sounding the word out, trying to get used to the way it felt on his tongue. It was a weird thought, but if he could taste the word, he thought it'd probably be sugary sweet with this weird aftertaste you couldn't get out your mouth for the life of you. Yeah, you want it because it tastes good, but that taste in your mouth afterwards makes it a little less appealing to think about.

Meanwhile, Kellin bit at his lip anxiously at the thought of how performing with Vic might go. God, he hadn't touched a microphone since before he'd moved to San Diego. Kellin liked to say he was a pretty optimistic guy, but if you could get a glimpse into his mind, he stressed about imaginary issues almost as much as Vic did. Almost.

"Mhm. . . No yeah, you're right." He finished the rest of his food before pushing his plate just slightly out to signal he was finished. Kellin could probably throw up the food he'd just swallowed down with the amount of knots he felt in his stomach. His leg began to bounce, and he started to wonder why exactly he was getting so worked up over this.

"Kellin. ." Vic's hand moved with unsubtle hesitation, eventually coming under the table to gently rest on his knee, and like magic, Kellin's leg stilled. "You'll be okay. For some reason they just like to be inseparable assholes that live to stir the pot." Vic rolled his eyes thinking about the two. With no Tony, there was no Jaime, or vise versa. It almost felt like him and Kellin would have to go to war with them to see who the most insufferable couple would be, though Jaime and Tony would win by a long shot, and that'd probably inflate their egos to the max despite it technically being a bad thing.

"Then I guess this'll just have to be a really good fucking gig huh?" Kellin took a breath and stood up, taking their two empty plates from the table and soon making his way to the sink as he spoke.

"It'll be good regardless. ." Vic muttered as he rolled his eyes, lazily walking over to come help Kellin with the couple of dishes that were left in the sink, though he eventually ended up being nudged away by Kellin. His defense was "that's not something guests do" with a wink and a grin Vic couldn't argue against, so instead he leaned against a counter in the kitchen, making sure to keep his distance so he wasn't right up against him, though the thought made his stomach feel fluttery.

"Well um. . I have work today, I'll have to leave soon." Kellin soon put up the last of the dishes and immediately turned around to face Vic. There was a clear glint of disappointment in his eyes, the kind of disappointment that wasn't intentional, but ultimately showed anyway.

"Seriously? Ive barely had any time with you!" Kellin sighed out as he walked over to lean on the same counter as Vic. They shared glances for a moment, but Vic eyes immediately darted to something else. Kellin's eyes, that were a perfect hue of blue, were so effortlessly gorgeous that they never failed to make him so nervous.

"Well wait—soon as in like. . A couple hours maybe." For once in his life, if only today, he wasn't in a rush to get home. "I have a good movie to watch if you're interested. ." Kellin hummed, the constant thought of 'he wants to stay' floating around in his mind was making him feel all bubbly.

"If I don't rant about it afterwards I think I might kill you." Kellin took Vic's hand and squeezed it tight in his own as he replied "I might let you pick from the few I think up."

And before he knew it, Vic was playfully shoved back onto the bed and Kellin rolled in soon after, though before he actually allowed himself to get comfortable, he looked at Vic for a moment.

"Yknow, im really happy you're mine now."

You're mine

You're mine you're mine you're mine. . .

Those were the only two words Vic processed out of Kellin's entire sentence. You're mine. There was so much he wanted to say, so much he could say. He wanted to say "Well duh, I've always been yours" or something corny like that, but the thought of coming off too strong too early into the relationship throbbed in his mind, it was only natural for someone like Vic. So, instead of saying anything at all, he ended up staring at Kellin silently in pure awe.

"Nobody's stopping you Fuentes, trust me." Kellin's hand cupped Vic's rosy cheek, and as if it was a newfound instinct, Vic crashed his lips against Kellin's. His mouth tasted faintly of butter and avocado, and he hummed when the taste hit his tongue.

At a loss for breath, Vic pulled away, only for Kellin to initiate the next one.

'Oh my god. . .' Vic thought to himself, 'We're not even kissing anymore, we're making out. .'

Vic Fuentes was without a doubt making out with Kellin Quinn, and he didn't even have it in himself to stop it from happening. I mean, it had to be inevitable right? That look in his eyes, the way his hand came up to cup Vic's cheek like he was just bound to say yes, he was practically begging for it without saying a word.

Their chests were just about glued to each other, both nearly able to feel the rapid heartbeat under their clothes as their kisses slowly grew a little sloppier each time they briefly pulled apart for air. It wasn't until Kellin's tongue effortlessly slipped into Vic's mouth that he just barely managed to pull away, not because he didn't want to keep kissing him, but because he started moaning because he wanted to keep kissing him, and that alone made him so embarrassed he felt like he'd lit himself on fire.

Vic stammered more than the author could stand to type out, and Kellin looked completely dazed through all of it, like he was barely even present in this timeline.

His thoughts were so loud Vic was almost completely tuned out, but even with that he said "It's fine. I promise it's fine." Kellin's dreamy eyes couldn't leave Vic's anxious ones, and the only thing he could manage to say after was "Just. . Please don't leave, okay?" He squeezed Vic's hand and despite his conflicting feelings, he settled down, though he made a bit of space between them.

Vic was under the assumption Kellin didn't care what movie he played anymore, so he put on a less than decent thriller since he was almost certain neither of them would really be paying attention anyways. The silence between them, despite everything, wasn't uncomfortable, and tension they both felt eventually thinned. After a few minutes of self reflection, they regrouped.

"Im sorry I rushed things." Kellin looked at Vic, now seeming to have come down from his little high.

"No. . Im sorry I let you, but that's not to say I still didn't enjoy it. ." His remark made Kellin giggle as Vic looked back with a smile he'd only ever let Kellin see, and they stayed like that for a couple seconds, nothing but the movie and the faint sound of clock ticking to fill in the silence. It was comfortable, something Vic could get used to.

"So. . umm. . rehearsal tomorrow?" Kellin's eyebrows rose in a way that told Vic he'd forgotten all about the whole gig thing. Nevertheless, he still nodded his head in agreement. "Totally!" Kellin smiled, which only caused another smile to grow onto Vic's features.

They turned their attention to the movie for the first time, although it'd already been on for 15 minutes now, the two both completely lost on what exactly happened in such small time.

"I promise this isn't the actual movie I wanted us to watch. . . This one's so fast paced."

"But isn't that what thrillers are all about? Gotta get thrilled somehow." Kellin shrugged, and Vic frowned as he thought about it "I mean, I don't think all thrillers are like that. It's more thrilling when it actually has a little story to go along with it. Maybe that's just a personal preference. ." Vic shrugged back, though his was intentionally dramatic to get a laugh out of Kellin, which he did, and hearing it made his heart flutter.

"Oh my god you're such a fucking nerd Victor. ."

Kellin moved in to fill the space again, though this time it didn't feel so. . suggestive. It was the kind of closeness that made Vic feel all warm and fuzzy, like being with Kellin always felt.

Their fingers intertwined, and in the most comfortable silence they watched a really, really bad movie. It was as if nothing had happened. . . well. . . maybe that was only exclusive to Kellin.
