Summary
Izuku Midoriya was full of scars, his body a testament to an ill-fitted quirk, or so he’d led everyone on to believe. Growing pains; the price of his quirk’s greatness; even the neatest of marks– the ones that looked too deliberate to be accidents, were all dismissed without question.
After all, Hisashi Midoriya was a model father. A man who picked up the pieces after his wife’s tragic suicide and raised his son with quiet, relentless strength. Izuku was a boy who had promise, a father with perseverance, and enough positivity to draw admiration. As easy as it was for Izuku to hide his suffering, he was now bound to a school full of watchful eyes and silence can only last for so long before it’s replaced by questions.

Then there were the bruises on Inko; Hisashi’s own hands had left those. He never realized how strong he was until her fair skin bloomed purple from his finger tips alone. Every time it happened, he’d drop to his knees, sobbing out apologies for actions he couldn’t take back. His hands shook as they hovered over his fragile wife, afraid that his breath alone would leave nicks on her marred skin. And every time, she’d take his shaking hands and press them close, whispering soft forgiveness into his ear– her lips pressed to his hair unafraid and unwary. If she could forgive a horrible man like him… why couldn’t she forgive their son? All Izuku had done was be born, yet somehow that had become his greatest sin.
