    “Matthias Helvar? Genya, you must be insane.”
    Genya’s voice was a bit muffled over the phone, certainly as she moved about her office. She was always busy with something.
    “Nina, listen to me. He is one of the most talented male dancers on this show. I don’t want you to be on the show if you don’t come out with the mirrorball. I’ve planned this, and I need you to trust me.”
    “Genya, anyone else?”
    “Nina, it’s already done. I swear, you’ll thank me later.” Her voice turned sly, “He’s proper fit too.”
    “Genya, I know that! I did go on a date with him.”
    Back in university, Nina studied abroad, and coincidentally, so did Matthias. They met in Paris, of all the cliché places, and they had a week’s worth of flirting and hurried kisses and cafe dates. And then, it was over. Nina went back home, and so did Matthias. He promised to call, to write, and he never had. She hadn’t encouraged him to, but a man was just supposed to call her back. She was Nina Zenik after all.
