GRABBIN’ GHOSTS
(DAY ONE)
RING
RING
RING
Levian woke up with a sluggish groan, blinking sleep out of his eyes as he took in his surroundings.
Black duvet. Dark room. Shapes jumping out of green-grey static.
Oh. And the phone ringing.
Grabbing the worn-and-torn red ‘Company’ phone positioned on his bedside table, he held the receiver up to his ear.
”Hello? This is Ethan Levian speaking.” He murmured, lifting his heavy head off of his pillow and rubbing his eyes.
”H-Hello? This is… Grabbin’ Ghosts, right? The one with the posters?” An anxious, hushed voice answered. Grimacing, Levian replied, sitting up a bit straighter in bed.
”Yep.” He sighed, tossing the covers off of himself and reaching into his drawer for a notepad. “…What’s your case?”
Levian still hadn’t gotten used to the TARDIS, even though he had seen it plenty of times. By ‘plenty’, this meant around 5 or 6—2 of these being in the span of a few minutes, walking in and out of the machine briefly.
One other, ‘small’ thing which he hadn’t gotten used to was the Doctor. A time-travelling alien from outer space.
By some miracle, he liked to think, they had crossed paths. A twisting tale of destiny, time travel, and the supernatural… and of course, science.
In actuality, they had met in… less fortunate circumstances.
Fire. Flashes. Pulses of electricity—snapping out like jagged nerves. Shaking. Violent… violent tremors. Some distant screaming. Then… a distant whooshing. Like the gentle embrace of the wind, scooping up leaves in its hands.
Then— the box appeared. The blue police box. The TARDIS.
And soon, all the pain and torment and struggling faded away. As soon as he was whisked away into time and space, he was gone.
The first couple of days had been just as—if not more— chaotic. Tossed right into to the end of THE universe as he knew it; back in the past to meet Dickens; until he was chucked RIGHT back to current-time Earth.
Despite all their individual struggles and disorders, it had been, undeniably, fun.
In fact, he had found himself wishing over the past couple of days that there were more adventures available. But… then again, maybe a break was a good thing.
Well…
Depending on if you’d call identifying, hunting, and removing an anomalous being from someone’s basement a ‘good thing’.
