Work Text:

Buck and Eddie are engaged to be married in a little over a week.

They've been together for eight months now, engaged for four.

Yeah, they know how soon that is, but they're not normal about each other.

Never have. Never will.

The past two months have been chaotic; planning their wedding, moving into a new, bigger house for their future kids and pets, and working extra shifts to pay for it all while making sure Chris is taken care of.

Oh, and the adoption papers. We cannot forget about those.

Because Buck has officially adopted Chris now.

That day was full of happy tears and hugs.

All of that to say, the couple is very happy and very excited to get married.

Especially Eddie, he reminds everyone, and I mean everyone, every five minutes, that he is going to be getting married to Evan Buckley very soon.

Buck is giddy too. He's very excited to marry Eddie, the love of his life, but he doesn't remind everyone every five minutes. It happens when he suddenly remembers that he's getting married to Eddie, or when he looks at the engagement ring on his finger—he and Eddie both have engagement rings on their fingers because they both bought rings for the other, Eddie just beat Buck to the actual proposal part—or when he looks at Eddie when Eddie is doing something adorable—which happens a lot because Eddie is absoluetly adorable doing literally anything.

Eddie does it more, though.

Eddie is always really affectionate towards Buck.

Which surprised everyone—even Buck.

Because Buck is usually the overly affectionate and clingy one in the relationship, which is usually what drives the other person away.

Don't think Buck isn't affectionate and clingy towards Eddie, because he is, a lot. Eddie is just more affectionate and clingy.

He's always reaching out to take Buck's hand to intertwine their fingers. If he can't do that, he wraps his pinkie around Buck's. He also locks their ankles when they are in the engine one the way back or to a call, or when they're sitting on the couch at the loft, or when the team is eating, they always sit next to each other, and Eddie doesn't hesitate to lock their ankles. Or if they are in a more private setting instead of being around their friends and family, Eddie puts a hand on Buck's thigh, sometimes just to do it, sometimes in the sexual sense—and don't even get Buck started on the sex, best of his life—Eddie always makes it clear which one it is.

Not only that, Eddie puts a hand on Buck's back when he needs to get around the blonde, even if he doesn't need to touch, or when they're standing side by side talking with someone on a call or other various settings, he just puts a hand on Buck's back for no reason at all, well, other than that he just wants to touch Buck.

And anytime Eddie gets the chance to run a hand through Buck's hair, he takes it, not wasting a second to run his fingers through the golden curls.

He's constantly telling Buck that he loves him, and Buck always says it back.

Buck thought he was too clingy and overaffectionate, but he was proven very wrong when he started dating Eddie Diaz, the love of his life.

And don't even get Buck started on the pet names.

Neither Buck nor Eddie used them much with previous partners.

But now, both of them use them constantly. Especially Eddie. He not only uses the classics: baby, honey, sweetheart, my love—like Buck uses. Eddie also uses Spanish ones, like: cariño, mi amor, mi alma, mi sol, mi corazón, amor de mi vida, hermoso, cielo, tesoro, etc.

It's constant.

Buck loves it.

Which brings us to tonight. Exactly seven days before the wedding.

Buck had a bachelor party with the guys—Bobby, Chim, Ravi, and a few other co-workers—two nights ago. It was fun as hell. They all got pretty drunk, minus Bobby, who was the designated driver.

Eddie is having his tonight with the girls: Hen, Karen, and Maddie. Athena had to work, but she sent Eddie a sweet text, telling him congratulations and to have fun (not too much fun, though).

Buck is getting some chores done in the new house. Chris is at a sleepover tonight. Hence why Eddie is having the bachelor party tonight, so Chris doesn't see his dad hungover, just like when Buck had his bachelor party, Chris was over at the Wilsons that night.

As Buck is finishing up in the kitchen, his phone vibrates in his pocket.

Someone's calling him.

Buck smiles, seeing the cute picture of Eddie blowing him a kiss that Buck set as the contact photo, the words, My Husband ❤️, on the screen.

Yes, he is aware they aren't married yet, but it's close enough. (Buck changed it a week after they got engaged.)

Buck quickly answers the phone, putting it to his ear, making sure not to stare at the picture for too long, just in case something is wrong.

"Hey, Eds," Buck greets with a lovesick smile. "Everything oka—"

Eddie cuts him off, the familiar voices of his sister, Hen, and Karen in the background. "Guys, it's my husband! Shhh."

Oh, Eddie is hammered.

Buck smiles wider. "It sure is, baby. You okay?"

"Buuuuuck, come get meeee," Eddie whines drunkenly.

Buck snickers, shutting off the kitchen lights, heading towards his and Eddie's bedroom. "No, Eds, you have fun." Buck shuts the bedroom door behind him and hops onto his side of the bed, grabbing the TV remote from his nightstand, turning it on. "The party doesn't end for another hour, love." Buck opens Netflix, looking for a particular documentary he wants to re-watch.

"But I want you to come get me nowwwwwww." Eddie is so wasted. He's going to have one hell of a hangover tomorrow.

"Eds—"

"Baby, I'm ready to come home nowwwww."

Buck folds, turning the TV off. "Okay. Okay." Buck swings his legs over the bed and heads out of the bedroom to the front door to slip his shoes on. "I will be there shortly, babe."

"Okieee. Love you, Mr. Diaz."

Buck snorts. "I'm not a Diaz yet, baby."

"But you will soooon." Eddie hiccups. "Mr. Evan Diaz."

They were originally going to hyphenate, but Buck decided he just wants to be a Diaz.

"I sure will." Buck grabs his Jeep keys and then heads out the door. "Love you."

"Love you more." Eddie instantly replies, heavily slurring his words. "Love you so so much."

Buck snickers as he hops into the Jeep, turning the key in the ignition. "Bye, Eddie. I'll be there soon."

"You have to say 'love you' first," Eddie whines.

Buck rolls his eyes. "I already said it."

"Say it againnnnn," Eddie begs.

Buck smiles adoringly. "I love you, Eddie. I'll see you soon."

"Hurrrrryyyy, I miss youuuuu."

"Promise." Buck hangs up before Eddie can say anything else, then he quickly backs out of the driveway, driving to the bar that Eddie sent him the address to before he left three hours ago.

Buck loves Eddie so much.

The bar is quite nice. Buck has never been here before.

Also, whoever is currently drunkenly singing Pink Pony Club needs to get down from the stage; it's a crime to anyone with ears.

It doesn't take Buck long to spot the booth that Eddie, Maddie, Hen, and Karen are sitting at.

They all look very drunk and all have what seems to be fruity-looking drinks in their hands.

All the women look very annoyed at Eddie as he is going on a tangent about something.

"Finally!" Karen cheers, spotting Buck first.

Hen and Maddie look up and immediately smile at Buck.

"He is all yours," Hen says with an eye roll, slurring her words, taking a sip of her drink.

"He won't stop blabbing about you," Maddie adds drunkenly.

Then the three women take their drinks and walk over to the bar, refilling their glasses, cheering on whoever is singing Opalite. They are actually not too bad.

Buck waves when the women walk off, then Eddie gets up out of the booth, chugging what is left of his margarita, setting the empty glass back on the table with all of the other empty ones.

"Hey, you," Buck flirts, reaching over to grab Eddie's hips. "Ready to get outta here?"

"Nope. Nu-uh." Eddie retreats, taking a step back from Buck. "I'm a taken man," he says, slurring his words, pointing a lazy finger at the blonde.

Buck loves his idiotic fiancé so much.

Buck puts his hands in his pockets so he doesn't try and grab Eddie again because he's too drunk to realize Buck is right here. "Oh, yeah?"

Eddie nods, holding up his left hand, showing off his engagement ring. "I'm a very taken man."

"Pretty ring." Buck smiles.

"Thanks. M-my amazing, beautiful boyfriend—fiancé now—got it for me. I love him so much," Eddie slurs with a lovesick smile, looking down at the ring.

Buck has to take a breath to contain his laughter. He doesn't want to embarrass his fiancé. At least not in public. He'll gladly do it at home.

"Why don't I take you home, Eds?" Buck offers kindly.

Eddie quickly holds his hands up. "Nope! I have a fiancé to take me home, thank you! He'll be here any second now."

Buck lets a tiny laugh slip free. "Why don't I wait outside with you? It'll be safer."

Eddie nods. "Fine. Hands off."

Buck holds his hand up in the air. "You got it."

Eddie makes his way out of the bar, Buck not far behind, the Jeep at the front of the parking lot. Buck left it running when he saw the heavy security on the outside. They automatically understood why he left it running; he could see it in their eyes.

Eddie walks to the Jeep, out of instinct, not saying anything as he struggles to get inside it.

Buck quickly hops into the driver's seat, buckling himself in.

Then he looks over and sees Eddie slouching in the seat uncomfortably. No seatbelt.

"Buckle up, Eds."

Eddie doesn't move; he just stares out the window with a blank expression.

Buck groans internally and reaches over to strap Eddie in himself before driving out of the parking lot onto the main road to their house.

Eddie then leans his head back on the headrest, lazily turning his head to look over at Buck. "Do you know Buck—Evan Buckley?"

Buck has to bite his bottom lip to stifle his laughter. "Y-yeah. I know him. Worked with him before." This is really entertaining. Buck is having a great time. He can't wait to tell Eddie all about it tomorrow once the hangover fades.

"He's my fiancé," Eddie smiles. "We're getting married in a week. He's going to become my husband. Isn't that a nice word? Husbannnnnd." Eddie then goes into a fit of giggles.

"Lucky guy."

"No. I'm the lucky one," Eddie corrects sternly, holding up his pointer, looking nearly cross-eyed. "I love him so much."

It's a twenty-minute drive back home, Eddie filling the time with a long recap of everything he loves about Buck, talking about how beautiful he is, how great he is with their son, how he loves listening to Buck talk about interestingly random facts, how good of a kisser he is, what an amazing cuddler he is, and what a great romantic partner he is.

Buck didn't think he could love Eddie Diaz more, but he has been proven very wrong.

When Buck parks the Jeep on the driveway and shuts it off, Eddie immediately perks up, stopping mid-sentence about how sexy Clipboard Buck is, seeing that he's now home.

When Eddie opens the passenger door, he nearly tumbles to the ground, Buck having raced over there to keep Eddie from falling.

"Time for bed, gorgeous." Buck lays one of Eddie's arms on his shoulders, helping Eddie get inside their house, slightly struggling to unlock the front door, locking it behind them, and leading Eddie to their bedroom.

When Eddie notices that he's in his and Buck's bedroom, he flops right onto the bed, letting out a long, happy sigh.

Buck chuckles, closing the bedroom door, walking over to the bed, pulling Eddie's socks off, tossing them in the laundry hamper, but when he reaches for Eddie's belt, Eddie pulls back.

"Nope! Taken man!" Eddie rolls over onto his stomach so his belt can't be removed.

"I know that, baby," Buck laughs, putting his hands on the back of Eddie's legs, over Eddie's tight jeans. "Hence why it is me who is taking off your clothes."

"No," Eddie grumbles, pulling his pillow into his arms, lying his head on it. "My wonderful fiancé will do it once he's here."

Buck shakes his head with an amused smile. "Just sleep in that then, Eds."

Eddie climbs out of the bed and faces Buck. "I am not going to bed with you! I am almost a married man!"

Buck then breaks down laughing. He can't hold it in anymore. Eddie is so drunk that he doesn't realize his fiancé is standing right here.

Buck is also too tired to keep this going; he'll just have to—heartbreakingly—sleep on the couch tonight.

Babysitting his niece and nephew is easier than this. Almost...

"Fine." Buck has fully given up. "But lie in the bed, okay? Sleep good, Eds."

Eddie groans loudly, pulling his pillow and Buck's off the bed and setting them on the floor, lying on the ground, his pillow under his head, and Buck's pillow tucked under his arm, holding it close.

"I will sleep on the floor. I won't sleep with another man. I only want my husband," Eddie grumbles.

"Baby, this is our bed, our house. I am your fiancé, almost husband. Sleep in the bed."

"I love Buck. I only want Buck," Eddie mumbles, sounding like he's about to fall asleep. "He's going to be my husband. And I'm going to give him a million babies."

Buck snorts, sitting down on the ground next to Eddie, back against the side of the bed. "Honey, you know that neither of us can get pregnant."

"I will. Or die trying," Eddie says back firmly, quickly going on another tangent about what he loves about Buck. "I love him so much. I love it when he talks, laughs, and smiles. I love his face, his lips, his tits, and his dick. I love it when he's inside me."

Buck laughs into his fist, running his free hand through Eddie's gel-free locks.

Eddie continues, "He's my best friend, and the love of my life. He's a great dad and an amazing firefighter. I love him so much and can't wait to marry him next week."

"He loves you, too, Eddie. So much," Buck says with an adoring smile. "Take the bed. Your fiancé would prefer for you to sleep in the bed anyway. I will leave, okay?"

Eddie responds with a soft snore.

He's asleep.

Buck sighs, smile refusing to leave his face as he stands up, then bends down to get a hold of Eddie, picking him up and placing him on the bed, pulling the covers back, covering Eddie up. Then he carefully puts Eddie's pillow back under his head, Buck's pillow still being held tight in Eddie's arms.

Buck leans down to kiss Eddie's temple. "Love you, Eddie."

Buck then strips himself of his clothes, minus his sweat pants, tossing the dirty clothes in the hamper, very slowly climbing into his side of the bed under the covers, grabbing one of their extra pillows from the closet to lie on, and instantly falling asleep.

Buck wakes to the sound of retching in their bathroom.

Yes, their bathroom. The new house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Buck quickly hops out of the bed and runs into the bathroom to rub Eddie's back. "I'm here, baby. Just let it all out."

"Buck, that you?" Eddie mumbles.

"Sure is, baby. You remember me now?"

Eddie sits up, wiping off his mouth, looking at Buck with wide, panicked eyes. "I didn't remember you?"

Buck is quick to comfort his fiancé. "Not like that, baby. I'll explain later. Let's get you changed, and then I'll get you some meds."

Eddie agrees, letting Buck guide him around, getting him into a comfier outfit, water, and some aspirin before bringing Eddie back to bed, pulling him close.

"Gonna tell me now?" Eddie asks into Buck's chest.

"I'll wait until you're more sober. Just rest now, baby. I'll be here when you wake up."

"M'kay. Love you."

"Love you more, sweetheart. See you in the morning." Technically, it's already morning; it's currently a little after 2 am.

"See you in the morning."

Eddie then falls asleep, Buck following shortly after.

The two woke up seven hours later, Eddie feeling a lot better, but his head was pounding.

Buck got his fiancé some more aspirin, then Eddie brushed his teeth before they hopped into the shower together, Buck telling Eddie all about last night.

"Oh my God, really? I said all of that?" Eddie blushes, hiding his face in his hands.

"Oh, yeah," Buck chuckles, pulling Eddie to him so they are chest to chest. "You sure did. It was so cute. I should've recorded you."

"I can't believe I didn't realize you were right there. I always notice you."

Buck kisses Eddie's temple. "I love you."

"Love you too," Eddie says back automatically. "Can't believe you still want to marry me after last night."

"Oh, believe me, last night made me love you even more."

Eddie looks up at Buck in admiration. "Yeah?"

"Heck yeah, baby." Buck pecks Eddie's lips. "Still can't get over how you said you would get me pregnant or die trying."

Eddie groans loudly, hiding his face in Buck's neck.

"Even said you'd give me a million babies."

"Oh my God," Eddie grumbles. "The things you make me think."

"Thought about it before, huh?"

"All the time!"

"Maybe we can give it a try before Chris comes home tonight," Buck says with a smirk, squeezing Eddie's ass.

Eddie looks up at Buck with an excited smile. "I can get on board with that, fiancé."

"Good. Me too, fiancé."

They can't wait for it to be husband.
