Book 2: Share of Sins
War! The long peace in isolation of the Second Bohandi Empire has been shattered.
Their old enemies, the Grey Ascendancy, have returned and launched a devastating campaign of conquest across the Bohandi space.
Just as the Bohandi managed to counter the Greys, a new threat arose. The Superbohandi, long-defeated deviants, returned, more twisted and powerful than ever before. They brought with them their own share of horrors, including Nihilopods, terrible biological weapons devastating all opposition.
On a Bohandi colony of Tabr, a task force of Bohandi military is engaging the Superbohandi in a desperate attempt to stop them...
Chapter 1
Desperation
In orbit and above Tabr, Bohandi and Superbohandi ships were fighting a space battle.
Capital ships were firing at each other and fighters were moving around, chasing each other and attempting to make attack runs at larger ships, mostly to no avail.
But not all Superbohandi vessels were focused on fighting the space battle. Some were hovering above the colony and were dropping Nihilopods eggs into the colony. The eggs were flying through the atmosphere, with most of them surviving the descent, and crashed into the colony, releasing deadly impregnators to hunt for a host. Bohandi fighters and frigates were trying to destroy these eggs during their descent, but their success was limited. There were so many of these things.
On the surface, on the fields outside the colony’s capital, Bohandi ground troops were fighting Nihilopods and Superbohandi, desperately trying to prevent them from reaching the capital.
Corporal K’lep looked around. Artillery fire hit ground 15 meters from him, killing two Nihlopods. He barely avoided their acid. He saw two more Nihlopods advancing towards him. He put a grenade at the end of his rifle, switched his rifle into appropriate mode and fired. The grenade hit one of the Nihlopods in the head, attaching itself there. It exploded a moment later, killing both this Nihlopod and the one near it, splashing a lot of acid around. Some of it even hit a Superbohandi nearby, who didn’t manage to phase out in time. It didn’t kill him but distracted him, allowing K’lep to easily kill him with his rifle.
He heard a Bohandi fighter flying overhead. It fired a missile shot at an enemy formation, killing most of it and scattering the survivors. Elsewhere, K’lep saw a cephalod wrestling with an impregnator. It ended when the impregnator exploded, killing both combatants.
K’lep looked around and shot another Superbohandi.
