Claire groaned loudly before collapsing into a heap on the couch. Leon followed shortly after her, being careful not to crush his exhausted wife. Both lay there silently for a long beat before Claire mumbled into the pillow that her face was buried in.
"We're getting too old for this," she said.
"You got that right," Leon agreed. It was then that he noticed the small splash of baby food that stained his dark blue shirt. He groaned then lazily removed the article of clothing. "When is Chris supposed to be back?"
"Two more days," Claire sighed before sitting up and stretching. "And then we'll be free."
Leon nodded, tossing his shirt to the floor. "You know... I used to be a little sad that we didn't have a baby of our own."
"We never had the time," Claire said. "And we already had Sherry to look after."
Leon nodded again. "Yeah. Still, it was something I thought about a lot. But now..."
Almost on cue, little Rosemary started to wail upstairs.
Leon looked his wife in the eyes. "I'm so glad we got to skip this part with Sherry."
Claire nodded then sighed before rolling off the couch to go tend to the baby. Leon stretched then stood, following right behind her.
