Work Text:

Casey’s bandanna had mysteriously vanished recently.

He wasn’t really sure what had happened to it, but he had been getting more compliments from April since its disappearance, so he wasn’t exactly mad.
Besides, he had only started wearing it to contribute to his bad boy image. Now he really was a metal-as-fuck vigilante of justice! There was no reason to go looking for a replacement anytime soon.

There was one unexpected side effect of the missing bandanna, though.

A new habit Donatello had picked up.

A staring habit.

Casey had never noticed it before, so it had to have been a recent development. The turtle was almost constantly watching Casey– anytime they were in the same room Casey could feel his rival’s big brownish-red eyes trained on him.

It was kind of weird, but Casey didn’t mind.

He liked it. Loved it, even, when Donnie looked at him. Casey wanted to be caught in his intense gaze forever. To have those pretty eyes trained on him, on Casey, of all people, not April–

WHOA. Hold up. Pause.

Where had that come from? It was kind of weird to be thinking about your frenemy's staring problem like that.

I mean, Donnie did have pretty eyes, but that was just a fact of life, y’know? Sky is blue, grass is green, Donnie’s kind of hot.

In a purely platonic way, of course.

It’s not like Casey liked Donnie.

They were rivals! Rivals had romantic tension all the time. Just watch any movie with a love triangle! Two guys who like the same girl are bound to have chemistry– that’s another fact of life.

Besides, Donnie was clearly interested in April. (Another fact.) Even if Casey’s feelings were less than platonic— WHICH THEY WERE NOT— He wouldn’t even have a chance, anyways.

And yet…

Casey thought back to the most recent time he had fallen asleep back at the lair.

It had been a particularly long night, and everyone else had gone to bed. Casey was too hyped on adrenaline to pass out quite yet, and Donnie had mumbled something about insomnia, so they sat and talked for a bit.

More accurately– Casey talked for a bit. Donnie just listened and nodded sometimes.

Casey didn’t remember when he conked out, but he had awoken curled up next to Donnie, leaning on his rival’s chest. Donnie was also asleep, and had wrapped an arm around Casey sometime during their nap.

Donnie looked really nice like that. Sweet, even.

His expression was soft, his mouth open just enough for a faint whistle to buzz through the gap in his teeth.

It was really cute.

Ugh, goddammit, Casey! Seriously? Donatello?

He could do way better than that gap-toothed know it all! Donnie was a nuisance! Fun to annoy, yeah, but annoying in his own right!

Like April, for instance. April was way better of an option than Donnie!

Even if Casey only pretended to be into her for attention.

Wait– attention from who? Why was he doing that again?

Oh.

Right.

It all had to lead back to the turtle, didn’t it?

Shit.

Casey was a stupid fuckin’ bisexual.

Another fact of life.

Notes:

ahahaha. uh

that's it
