Fox hunting

Summary:

A poem about ethos ending to secret life

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Run, fox.

Run, run, run

Here comes hunter Scar with his bow.

Dodge, jump, slide, weave.

Avoid the arrows lest you fall.

Sweep, slide, scramble, flee.

Don't let the sword pierce your hearts.

Run, run, run, fast.

Distance yourself, don't let him come near.

Closing in, closing in.

Run to your home.

You'll be safe there.

Pearl thrown,

You were doomed from the start.

Sword meets flesh.

Flesh meets sword.

Hearts deplete, never regen.

Abandoned in the grass, where your hunter left.

Lost all the glory,

Stolen from valor.

The shrines warm embrace comforts you,

Beds contrast coldening skin.

Last breaths taken,

Lightning strikes,

Finally at rest,

Until next game
