Work Text:
The task was simple, all bdubs had to do was leave a present at Joel's base. That took a lot longer than expected, however, as by the time bdubs got there, it was dark.
He dropped off the gift and set on the path back home. The trees looked scarier at night and his horse was freaking out.
The sound of a branch snapping caused the horse to buck bdubs off and ran away.
"Come back! Stupid horse!"
Bdubs stood up, dusting dirt off his trousers mumbling to himself.
Great. Now he has to walk the rest of the way.

"Are you lost?"
What the?!
"You talk?!"
"Of course I talk. I can show you the way home if you want."
Bdubs was skeptical but what other option did he have?
"Fine."
Bdubs and the fox walked for several miles.
"So, what brings you here anyway?"
"Had to deliver something to Joel. I owed him something."
"Cool. I'm etho, by the way."
"Strange name for a fox."
"Alright, what's your name then."
"Bdubs."
"Strange name for a human."
"Oi!...touché."
Bdubs begrudgingly said as he followed etho through the woods. The trees, despite dark, were oddly beautiful.
"Are you sure this is the right way?"
"Of course! I know these woods like the back of my paw."
Bdubs soon saw the light of the spawn shops in the distance. Etho was leading him in the right direction.
"Here you go. Told you this was the right way."
"Huh. You were right. Thank you-"
But etho was gone. Not a trace of him remained, as if he'd never existed. How odd
