June fluttered her eyes open. Her head was fuzzy, and suffering from an extreme headache, presumably from the fluorescent lights shining above her. She didn’t know where she was, or who the voices that she could hear speaking belonged to. Huh. Where am I? She pondered about that as she tried to lift her head, just to be met with a sharp pain. She immediately put her head down, which was an even worse idea as she banged her head on the tile floor. She thought that it would be a good idea to remember herself before attempting the act of trying to get up again.

Ok, My name is June Saito, and I have black hair with bangs. I live in Florida, and I love the sun. After gathering her thoughts, she lifted her head again. Her head still ached badly, but she managed to sit up and see a little clearer. She noticed that this was a laundry room, and she was sitting right in the corner, by the machines. The room was very packed and crowded, with everyone already up and talking. They seemed panicked, and one blonde girl was even crying. She dismissed that though, because who wouldn’t be scared after waking up in a crowded laundry room? Her voice wobbled a little as she attempted to speak to the others. “Uh, h-hello? W-where am I? What’s going on?” The crowd turned their heads to her, making June break out in a cold sweat.

“Hey, you’re finally up!” Said a girl with colorful bangs and a superhero suit. “How many fingers am I holding up?”

June muttered, “Uhh, three?”

“Good! Your vision is alright, so how about your name?”

June thought about giving away her name, but she gave it anyway because if she had been kidnapped like this, they would probably know her name anyway. “M-My name is June. June Saito.”

“Like the month? That’s really pretty! My name is Tsuno Manami! Nice to meet you, Saito.”

“Thank you Tsuno. But please call me June, if that’s alright.” Tsuno nodded in agreement.

“Okay. I have a quick question, then I’ll leave you be.”

“Hm?” June nodded, as a sign to continue.

“Which part of Japan are you from? I can’t really tell.”

“Uh, I-I’m from the USA actually. Florida. But my mom is from Kawasaki. Before I got here though, I was on a vacation there to visit my grandparents. For the first time actually.” She wondered if she should’ve said that much information about her, but she already said it, so it was too late to take it back.

“Hm. it’s sad that your first trip here went… like this, but still, welcome!” Tsuno said. She looked like she was thinking about something. In fact, everyone looked like that. They were all looking at her with confusion, it made her shudder.

“Let’s stop dodging the question. WHO are you?” A strange brunette said.

“Stop being rude, Nakamigawa.” Someone else said, with clear annoyance in his voice.

“I’m not being rude! I’m being real. She’s new! She wasn’t here for that game! SHE’S SUSPICIOUS!” The guy continued ranting on, as the other guy kept arguing with him.

“They're really loud.” June said, holding her hand to her forehead, as its pounding worsened with the noise.”

“I know.” Tsuno said with annoyance, but with a little bit of humor mixed in, to lighten the mood. “The brown haired one is Hiroaki, and the one wearing glasses is Ojima.” Tsuno explained.

“What were they talking about? What do they mean? I'm new. What a game. Why am I suspicious? I have no idea what’s going on!” June asked, with slight anger in her voice. She just woke up, she has a mind splitting headache, and these weirdos are ranting about weird stuff. She didn’t know how this situation she found herself in could get any worse.

“Allow me to explain.” A high, monotone voice said. She looked to the sound of voice, to find a rabbit?

“A rabbit?” She quietly questioned.

“Not you again! Go away!” The crying blonde said.

“I will not.” “I'd appreciate a moment of your attention.”

A really muscular girl didn’t seem to like this rabbit. “We already know what you going to fucking say, so shut the hell up!” She yelled, which made her head hurt so much, tears welled up in her eyes. Tsuno noticed this, and took action.

“Can you guys stop yelling? We have a girl who doesn’t know what’s going on, so talk normally, and stop being so harsh!”

“Thank you.” The rabbit said. “You are here to play a game. Most of you have already played this once, but this time, there is a newcomer.” June was looking at her lap, but she could feel the eyes staring at her. The strange rabbit continued on.

“Welcome back to Fujioka Memorial High School. This is the building that you will call home for the foreseeable future. You are currently on the school's basement floor. You're free to roam this floor as you please, but please refrain from damaging or breaking the building in any way. The way to win this game is to kill somebody.”

June’s eyes shot open when she heard that. Kill? What? She was panicking, and it was visible on her face. Monomoko continued on speaking, ignoring her panic.

“The game you're here to play is one of life and death. Nobody is allowed to leave until somebody has won.” Tears were streaming down June’s face at this point. Why of all people, was she trapped in a killing game? After all she has been through?

“W-Why me? Why am I here? I didn’t do anything…” Half of the class looked at her with sympathy in their eyes, sorry for her. The other half though were annoyed, sighing and repeating her words with a scoff.

“To win, you must either kill one of your peers without being caught, or you must survive through five trials and reach the game's ending state.”

“Hey Monomoko. Why did you bring a new person here? To torture someone else?” A girl in a red outfit said.

“I was just about to get into that, if you didn’t interrupt me.” Silence was all around. “Good. As I was about to say, there is a new person. Saito June,” –She jumped up when she heard her name be said by rabbit.–” You have probably noticed that the other students have played this game before. What is going to happen is that the game is going to restart, but you are going to participate with them. Do you have any questions?”

She stayed silent, not daring to speak. “Okay then. Your classmates will help you with Navigation. If you have any questions going forward, just call for me. My name is Monomoko.”

”No fair! You told her your name immediately! We had to call you rabbit!” The blonde crying girl said.

“I don’t see the issue. Anyways, I’ll be making my leave now.” The rabbit immediately disappeared, leaving June in a flurry of emotions. She felt scared, while curious, and also nervous with everyone staring at her.

“Well, let’s try to find her dorm I guess. I’m curious about it anyways.” Sasaki said while standing up.” Hiroaki questioned her thought process though.

“Why are we caring about her so much though? It’s not like she’s the only one who woke up here!”

Sasaki replied swiftly. “The difference is that we have been here before, and done this game! She doesn’t even know what’s happening right now! If you want to do something else, that’s fine. We don’t need 16 people to give a tour of the basement anyways. But I do request that you guys PLEASE just be kind to her. We don’t know anything about her, or what she went through. She’s not even FROM Japan!” Just be normal, okay?” Silence filled the room. “Well, let's give you a tour, June. It’s the least we can do right now.”

June slowly got up from her spot, trying not to tumble back down. She nodded and then started following Sasaki out of the laundry room, until Tsuno said,

“Hey, can I join you guys! I wanna give her a lookdown first. For her medical needs and such.” June looked at Tsuno. She really looked like she wanted to go. Sasaki then interrupted her thoughts and said,

“Sure. Let’s go.” As the girls left the room, everyone else started to leave, until Hiroaki ran up and whispered something to Tsuno and Sasaki, but loud enough to where she could hear.

“Ask her about her ultimate,” He said.
