Day 20: Charlie/Lysa "They snuggle together under blankets"
Charlie is seething like an angry cat and this image is only further exemplified by how she is currently sneezing and shivering. On their last mission she had been doused with water by a fake wizard and it seems she's caught a cold.
However, that doesn't mean she hasn't refused Vikram's so-called tonic and Connor's solution which he found in an occult textbook.
Although, in Charlie's defense, Lysa has to admit that Vikram's tonic looks disgusting and she's pretty sure Connor's solution included the word enema, something about how it's supposed to be a shock to the system and therefore chase away the cold.
Still, Lysa doesn't want to see the guardian sick. She likes Charlie, not just as a guardian and she's pretty sure not just in a platonic way. So she really doesn't want to see Charlie with a cold, still she knows the other woman is stubborn.
"You should probably do something about that." Lysa tries to sound casual as Charlie sneezes so hard that the rolling chair she is sitting in rolls across the annex.
"I'm not letting Connor give me an enema," Charlie sniffles in annoyance.
"Oh yeah, definitely. I wouldn't be letting Connor anywhere near my butt either." Lysa can't help but grimace as she speaks. "That's actually a kind of horrifying thing to imagine."
"And I'm pretty sure the ingredients in Vikram's tonic are all expired." Charlie sniffles again and rubs her head. She really does look like a pitful, wet cat.
"If you let me take you back to your room, I have something much better." Lysa immediately mentally facepalms the moment the words come out of her mouth. It sounds like she's propositioning Charlie and well although in normal circumstances she might not mind that, the other woman is clearly sick right now. Before Charlie can come to the wrong conclusions she lamely adds, "Tylenol Cold and Sinus, Gatorade and a box set of the Land Before Time movies."
"Oh." Charlie is quiet for a moment and then she softly states, "Those were my favorite movies as a kid."
It takes a while to get Charlie back to her room and she does have to lean on Lysa for the majority of the walk, but once they make it back she collapses onto her couch and seems grateful to take the medicine and drink Lysa hands her.
However, the moment Lysa has turned away to put in the DVD she suddenly begins ranting. "I'm completely useless to the Library in this state. How can I be trusted to be a guardian when I can't even fight off a cold without help? I bet Eve Baird doesn't get colds!"
Lysa resists the urge to point out that although this is likely currently true, it's because Eve Baird is tethered to the Library. She knows it is still a sore spot that Eve withheld her approval and honestly, Lysa has to admit that when she has a chance to meet the so-called ultimate guardian she will have words about this. Right now though, she just needs to get Charlie to feel better.
"I don't know if the common cold is a magical ailment so it's a little different from fighting vampires or time travel."
Lysa turns back around just as Charlie sneezes yet again and groans before tugging at a blanket in frustration. "I'm useless."
It's obvious that she's still shivering under the blanket and Lysa sighs. "Move over."
Charlie quietly obeys but flinches in surprise as Lysa sits down next to her and slides under half of the large blanket. "What are you doing?"
Even so, there's only so far she can move and after a moment Lysa feels the other woman reluctantly lean against her shoulder.
Amusingly enough, before Lysa can even form a full response, Charlie is already letting out light snores and she realizes she will be watching the movies alone.
