4 - Bets and Wagers

Summary:

“I’m giving you one last chance.”

“And I’m giving you a week without paperwork… Plus sex.”

“You always give me sex. We don’t need to bet on that.”

“This week will be bareback, as much as you want.”

4 - Bets and Wagers

I wrote this without thinking where it would go.

I hoped for the best.

Work Text:

“I totally can.”

“You can’t, darling, but it’s cute to see you try.”

“I’ll prove it to you right now.”

“You don’t have to do it.”

“You jealous?”

“I don’t want you to be embarrassed. That’s all.”

“I’ll bet you a paid week off if I do it.”

“You’ll pay me a week?”

“I won’t lose.”

“I’m giving you one last chance.”

“And I’m giving you a week without paperwork… Plus sex.”

“You always give me sex. We don’t need to bet on that.”

“This week will be bareback, as much as you want.”

That changed things.

Aaron sat straighter in his office chair. Spencer was looking at him from his place in front of his office door. The young man was confident he would win. He couldn’t allow that.

“It seems I better choose where I would go for my free week,” joked Spencer.

“I will put the lube in my pocket to have it ready.”

“You think about nothing but sex with me.”

“Is there someone else I should think about when I think about sex?”

“Jerk.”

“Oh, I plan on doing that to you for a week,” he smirked from his place.

“So, you in?”

“Bet.”

“Okay.”

Spencer left the office and walked towards the desks where Morgan, Prentiss and Rossi were talking animatedly with Agent Anderson. The guy had come to give back some files from the Violent Crimes division and he’d started chatting with Morgan about the girl he had met and it escalated into office gossip. Reid was never included because he didn’t care. But Aaron and he had always joked that when Anderson came to the bull pen, he’d always stare at Reid way too much, and one time he’d dropped a pile of reports when Spencer had stood a little too close without noticing.

Despite their relationship being known in the team, they kept it mostly professional at the office. Aaron only teased Anderson’s crush on Spencer a few times. Spencer didn’t care about Anderson’s crush, but he had a bet to win, and even better, prove his point to his boyfriend.

“Hey, Agent Anderson,” Greeted Spencer walking towards the group, “it’s nice to see you so early. My morning has improved greatly.” He tried a flirty smile at the agent, though he could feel it came out as a grimace.

The others looked at him like he’d grown a second head.

He put a hand on Anderson’s arm and squeezed softly.

“Grant, what is the good news? I saw everyone smiling in here and I too want to know.”

He saw Morgan raise his eyebrows even further. Prentiss had her mouth slightly open and Rossi was looking over them, surely at Aaron standing just outside his office.

Spencer saw how the other agent stared at him, because Spencer had called him by his first name, and mimicked a fish with his mouth opening but no words coming out. The poor man looked ready to bolt out of the bullpen, but Spencer wouldn’t let him.

“Uhm… Doctor Reid, I—”

“You can call me Spencer, Doctor Reid sounds so formal, and we’ve known each other for a long time, right?” He tried using the voice that had gotten him many things before.

Anderson looked ready to faint, and Spencer was smiling inside. He would get the man to admit he’d had a crush on Spencer.

“Doctor, Spencer, I don’t think you need to be so close.” Anderson said while swiftly disengaging his hand from his arm.

“Why? Do you find me off-putting?” He tried pouting and batting his lashes. He always looked younger, and apparently more attractive according to Penelope, when he did it.

“Oh, no, not at all,” rushed Anderson, “it’s just that I don’t think it’s appropriate to act like this in front of your significant other.” The man semi-whispered to him, like the others wouldn’t hear.

“What?” Spencer was shocked. Why did he—

“Besides I just got engaged and my fiancée is pregnant. That’s what I was telling them.”

Spencer could see how Prentiss was pursing her mouth, trying not to laugh. Morgan looked so done with Spencer’s antics. Rossi was smirking at Aaron who looked like he’d just become Chief of the FBI.

“And I would never want to be in front of an angry Aaron Hotchner. So if you all excuse me, I’ll take my leave now. Thank you for your wishes and I will let you know when our baby is born. Have a nice day.”

The man practically ran out of the bullpen and disappeared towards the elevator.

“Reid, what even was that?” Prentiss almost laughed.

“Pretty Boy, why are you trying to put the moves on that poor man?” Morgan was also breaking down, trying not to laugh.

“Maybe our Unit Chief can tell us.” Rossi pointed to Aaron.

They all saw the man walk down to them. Spencer wished the floor opened and it took him straight to the other side of the world.

“Please, don’t bother Doctor Reid. He’s just lost a bet.” Aaron was smiling at them.

Prentiss and Morgan just “oh” at them, shutting up when Spencer frowned at them. They turned their backs to him and he saw they were shaking. Worst friends ever.

“Aaron, you were betting against Reid?”

“He lost.”

“Oh, then I think I should shake your hand, maybe some of that luck comes my way.”

They shook hands complicitly. Spencer just scrunched his face up. He didn’t hate his punishment for losing, but his ego was wounded.

“Don’t worry, angel, I’ll be benevolent.”

“What did you win?” Piped up Prentiss.

“Giving extra paperwork to those who ask.” Aaron answered with a serious face. Prentiss stuck her tongue out at him.

Those two were separated at birth, Spencer always thought.

He let Aaron take him back to his office. Their team could wait for instructions for the day.
