3 - First Meeting

Summary:

Doctor Spencer Reid had watched porn before. He had done it out of curiosity, just to fit in with some peers, and because he wanted to relieve stress when he was overstimulated with life and the endorphin release had helped him relax.

He never expected to see someone who looked like he came out straight out of a porn movie. But there he was.

3 - First Time Meeting

Doctor Spencer Reid, I see what you are.

Work Text:

Doctor Spencer Reid had watched porn before. He had done it out of curiosity, just to fit in with some peers, and because he wanted to relieve stress when he was overstimulated with life and the endorphin release had helped him relax.

He never expected to see someone who looked like he came out straight out of a porn movie. But there he was.

Special Agent Jason Gideon had given a lecture and Spencer had attended it, he had also asked a long list of questions and suddenly he was being talked into joining the FBI as part of one of their divisions. He had gotten a business card and an appointment to visit the training academy at Quantico.

Agent Gideon had been talking about the recruiting process, and how he’d make sure Spencer got in without too much of a hassle. The man had made him walk all around, following him like a duckling. And now they were rushing to catch up with the agent in charge of the unit where Spencer would work, not if he wanted, but when he was approved to do it. He’d noticed Gideon had not really asked, he just assumed when Spencer didn’t say no and showed up.

They waited outside a heavy door. Agent Gideon had said that two of the agents in the team were giving a demonstration on the SWAT proceedings for the new recruits, so they were in a special training room, but they would be out soon. Spencer had finally sat down, thankfully.

As the minutes passed, and Agent Gideon had not bothered to talk to him anymore, Spencer had let his mind wander and think about what joining the FBI would entail. He was absorbed thinking about his daily routine, the commute, and what he’d do when he had free time, when the buzz of the door unlocking pulled him out of his thoughts. There was the sound of a lock and the heavy door started moving. Several men and women started walking out and talking animatedly amongst themselves. They seemed excited about what had happened inside. He could see some of them sweating lightly, which meant they had actively participated in the training. There were smudges on their clothes and he thought about having to go through something like that. He didn’t like it one bit.

Agent Gideon had noticed and he immediately told him not to worry. His role in the unit wouldn’t require him to do it… Maybe. Spencer cringed.

When most of the people had walked past them, there were a few people coming out but the difference was the gear they wore. It was all black, military-grade attire and the big letters on the front indicating they were agents leading the training exercise.

Agent Gideon stood up and waved to two of the men walking out. They had black helmets with tactical glasses and one of them had a cloth mask covering half his face. Spencer could not see anything that could give him a clue on what they looked like until they decided to take off something. They really looked intimidating.

The men walked closer to Gideon and started ungloving their hands, putting the gear in their pants’ pockets. Then off came the helmets and now Spencer could see one of them had a buzzcut and dark skin; the black cloth face mask only showing part of his head. The man lowered the mask and Spencer saw he was young and attractive, objectively speaking, and he was sweaty too. Spencer tried to sneak a peek of how they looked, just in case he had to work with them at some point.

The other man had stopped just behind the first agent, but he hadn’t taken off the helmet and the dark glasses he wore. His face was not covered but Spencer could only get glimpses of the shape of his face. He was definitely older than the other man.

Gideon knew them.

“Morgan, Hotch, I hope you’re not in a hurry, I wanted to talk to you about something and it’s important, so if we could have a little chat right now, that would be great.”

“I don’t mind, just let us get out of this.” Replied who Spencer assumed was Morgan.

“Sure, we can wait here.”

“No need, walk with us.” Said the older agent behind Morgan.

His voice was smooth and assertive, Spencer noticed, and his demeanor screamed authority. That was definitely the man that Agent Gideon said would have to interview him before he joined. Spencer gulped and tried to look small, walking a couple of steps behind.

They arrived at the changing room. He could see lockers inside. It made him nervous. A place like that had always meant trouble for him. Nothing good ever came out of Spencer being in one of them. His hand was shaking so he slid it in his pocket. He followed them all inside and waited for someone to address him directly. Gideon was asking how the training had gone while the men were moving around, unclipping the devices on their gear and putting them away in designated cases.

Agent Morgan walked around the lockers, while Agent Hotch stayed there. He finally took off the helmet and Spencer could see his dark cropped hair. It looked damp from sweat and there was a little cow lick at the back of his head. If Spencer had been anywhere else, he would have giggled, but he had to reign it in.

His eyes grew bigger when he saw the man take off the dark glasses covering his eyes. He finally could see the face of the man who would most likely be his boss.

For a split of a second, Doctor Spencer Reid felt himself go back in time when he first had gotten his hands on a dirty DVD where a middle-aged man was doing some very interesting things to a very young-looking man.

He had watched that video religiously for months, until the DVD was scratched and glitched so much he’d regretfully ditched it.

He knew he was staring, but he couldn’t stop.

That man was definitely in the top percent of attractive people. His hands were so big, his thick fingers made the devices look like toys, and the way he moved showed he knew what he was doing and what he’d do at all times.

His face was defined and well groomed. There was a light tan to his skin, but it wasn’t as prominent as people who worked outside. His eyes were sharp, and they were framed with defined thick lashes. His lips looked thin but defined, and the sharp jaw marked with the redness from the helmet strap… It was making Spencer weak in the knees.

He blinked fast when he noticed the man staring at him, like he was reading his mind. He couldn’t stop looking at the man.

Thankfully Agent Gideon was there to rescue him, even if the man didn’t notice.

“I told you I’d bring someone who should definitely be in the unit. Doctor Spencer Reid agreed to visit today so he could get acquainted with the premises and I’d introduce you too, so when he joins us there are no surprises.” The man surely talked like all was set to happen.

“So this is Doctor Spencer Reid.” The man gave him a once over, and Spencer would say he felt completely naked under his scrutiny, even when he was wearing too many layers. “The way you described him, I thought he would be different.”

“He’s young, but he’s fully capable of catching up with the way the unit works. I’ll make sure of it.”

Agent Hotch looked like he wanted to say something but nothing was said. He looked at the older man and nodded silently.

“I was told you don’t shake hands so let me introduce myself. I am Special Supervisory Agent Aaron Hotchner, I am working as Unit Chief of the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Agent Gideon is one of the founders of our division, and he’s talked highly of you, so if you decide you are capable of doing what we do, then I have no objection to giving this a trial run.” Spencer was thankful for his eidetic memory. He would never forget those words and the voice and the everything of Aaron Hotchner. “I assume you know there’s a protocol you must follow before you go into work, but I think we won’t have any issues. Are there any questions you have for me?”

For being known as a yapper by everyone who knew him, Spencer was speechless. If he talked, he would definitely say something embarrassing. So he just shook his head, hoping it would be enough for the moment.

It seemed it was, since Agent Gideon just clasped a hand on his shoulder and smiled pleased at his willingness.

Spencer Reid didn’t know anything else at that moment, except that working for Aaron Hotchner would be amazing, and at the same time a nightmare if he couldn’t control himself. But that was something that his future self would worry about. For now, he just wanted to go back home to his room and his bottle of lube.

Notes:

I've talked about this before, and I will do it again. Spencer joined in a heartbeat when he saw Hotch being all commanding at the Training Academy.
