Chapter Text
The city was cold. High north with snow constantly falling. Warmth? Never there. The lights shone against the streets as people traveled through, fast or slow.
Footsteps clicked against the rocky floor as the man ran… fast. His gaze when through the market place as he tried to keep himself on the low.
“There he is!”
Shit.
Faster, maybe the alleyway will work. The brunette slide in, taking a deep breath. Good. The didn’t find him. Why were they chasing after him? He was nothing… any more. Next thing he know arms grabbed him, taking him away from the group. He looked up to see The Knights of Rivendell alongside The Prince…
“Sir? Are you okay?”
“I-“ He blinked and looked down, seeing The Prince of Rivendell looking at him with a confused and worried look. His hands were clearly shaken, unable to stay still. Why was the Prince talking to him? He didn’t know… he should say something.
“I am not… i was traveling to here… then these guys started to harass me. I started to run away from them well.. you found me.” He felt a hand on his shoulder, making him tense up.
“You can stay with me. With some recent… issues there aren’t many places to stay. And you seem like a good asset to the castle.”
The wolf hybrid looked up, making eye contact with the prince. What? The prince wanted him to stay in the castle? Oh gosh…
“Oh! Really? I- well… thank you… I can try to help the best of my ability.”
The Prince took the runaways hand, smiling softly at him. “What’s your name? I don’t think I asked.”
“Oh! You.. you didn’t ask… I’m Ren… R-E-N.”
The Prince chuckled softly, which felt relaxing in a way. He took Ren with him to the castle, hand in hand with the new person. He didn’t know why he didn’t let go, but ren didn’t say anything so he let their hands stay together.
He was quite cute..

The Prince led Ren into a room, which had a few staff of Rivendell in there, either resting or cleaning up. He finally let go of his hand, taking a moment to look around.
Ren found an empty bed, placing his small bag there. He looked back at the Prince, smiling as he stood in a straight pose.
“You can take the time to rest Ren. I’m sure it’s been a stressful day for you. You may take all the time you need to relax. If you need me I’ll most likely be in the throne room, the library or my office.”
Ren nodded and bowed slightly, not gong forward too much due to recent back aches he gained.
“Oh! No need to do that! I promise a simple nod is okay.” The Prince smiled and giggled, noticing a lack of emotion from Ren. He mentally noted it and turned away, heels clicking as he left the servant chambers and up to the main floor.
—
“-and he was like- so strange! I don’t know Impulse. He’s clearly hiding something or he’s just very awkward.” Scott leaned back against his chair, legs on top of the desk while being crossed. He looked at his friend, a confused gaze in his eyes.
“Well he definitely isn’t from here. Maybe he’s just adjusting to a new area? Rivendell is a different climate. His clothes scream south. He could be from the capital or the ocean empire.”
As the two continued on their conversation there was a knock, raising both of their heads and pausing the conversation. The door opened to Pearl, another of Scott’s knights with Ren, who was in more appropriate outfits for Rivendell’s climate.
“Hello Ren, come take a seat. I promise this nothing bad. Impulse, Pearl, you are excused. Please go help some of the newcomers of the castle.”
The two knights did a quick nod and exited the room, leaving it to the Prince and Ren.
…
“Rivendell, must be new for you. I saw your clothes. You’re from down south… where exactly?”
Silence. Ren looked at Scott, gaze flickering between the Prince, a book behind him, the desk, and finally outside.
“So you aren’t going to talk. Hm, I see. Well. Is they something you will tell me? I’d like you to talk more Ren.” Scott leaned forward, getting a glance and the runaway before pushing himself back and grabbing a paper and a quill, sliding it over.
“You should write then. If you are going to be stubborn you can. I want to communicate with you properly Ren but you need to listen to me.”
Ren looked at The Prince before taking the pen… left handed. He scribbled down something and slid it back to the Prince, looking at him through the sunglasses.
‘What’s your name? You asked for Mine but didn’t say yours.’
The Prince smiled and took a quill for himself before writing in return, sliding the paper to Ren.
Prince Scott of Rivendell.
—
Two young boys snuck through the castle, soft giggles echoing through the halls. A small creaking sound was heard as the two left the main castle into the garden.
The older one held the younger one, smiles expanding on both faces.
“Pixy! Are you sure we should do this?” The young one asked, tugging on the other’s sleeve.
“Renny, you were the one who asked if we could go out and make the flower crowns. If we are careful all should go well.” Pix gently kissed his brother’s forehead before sitting down by a bush of red flowers, patting a spot for the younger one.
“Pixy… Do you promise to stay. Even if you get married?” Ren asked after moments of silence, the sound of flowers being removed and intertwined together.
“Of course Ren. Will you stay if you get married?” Pix asked in return, looking at the ten year old with a soft smile.
“Ew! I would never get married. I would rather stay here with you, momma and papa!”
The two looked at each other before going into a state of giggles, leaning into each other as the younger brother slowly felt sleep take over his body.
