Work Text:
When they adopted Nigou, Aomine had been really clear: That the dog was Kuroko’s sole responsibility, and he wouldn’t take part in anything to do with the puppy. After all, it was his partner’s idea to get a pet.
It worked like that… For a while. Aomine did his best on being indifferent to the pup. Until one day, his partner left in a rush, and the dog didn’t have any food left.
“What? Don’t look at me like that,” Aomine said to Nigou.
But Nigou kept staring at Aomine, while moving his tail.
“Fine, but only this time. Don’t think you have won me over or anything,” he complained.
And so, it began. Soon, Aomine found himself checking Nigou’s bowl, or taking him on walks when Kuroko was unable to do so.
“It doesn’t mean anything, Tetsu!” Aomine said, as he got out with Nigou outside.
Kuroko shook his head, and smiled. What a lie.
However, Kuroko wasn’t aware of how far Nigou had won over Aomine, until he had to stay late at work. He found the apartment really peaceful and quiet, which raised some suspicions.
As he entered their bedroom. Kuroko couldn’t be more surprised. Aomine was sleeping with Nigou at his side, despite how many times his partner had said that the dog wasn’t allowed to rest there.
Kuroko kissed Aomine’s lips, just barely so he wouldn’t wake up. The battle was over, and Nigou had won.
