Nick sighed deeply and kissed Charlie on the temple. And, as always, the horde of reporters that surrounded them went mad.
“Awwww, how cute!”
“Can you do that again so we can take a picture?”
“The fans will love that!”
“Look at them, what a power couple!”
“Charlie, kiss him back!”
Charlie buried his head in Nick’s side and snorted. Nick grinned, but sighed again as the flashlights blinded them.
“I swear, one of these days…” Charlie mumbled exasperatedly, keeping his voice low so that only Nick could hear.
“Come on, now, Char. For the fans!” Nick chuckled.
Charlie sighed and surfaced from Nick’s chest, smiling brilliantly if a little tensely at the flashing lights. “It’s not the fans I can’t stand, but these- these vultures!” he huffed out, the smile still plastered onto his face.
“I know what you mean,” Nick murmured back, still waving. Out of the corner of his eye he could see the mischievous glint in his boyfriend’s eyes. “Char!” he said warningly.
“Hmm, I think I’ll give them something to talk about…”
“Charles Elvira Spring, you will do no such thing!” Nick admonished, trying to hide his amusement.
“Watch me!” And with that Charlie dived in and pulled Nick into a searing kiss that was definitely not appropriate for a public setting. Before Nick could react properly, Charlie broke the kiss and grinned at him. “I can’t wait to get you home, to our savage little puppy who is waiting patiently for his belly scratches.”
Nick stared at him, then burst out laughing, reporters be damned. “Are you now?”
“I’m desperate for it. I still have a sock to fill and I can’t wait to do it with you!” He smirked at a speechless Nick and innocently waved to the horde of reporters before dragging Nick into the waiting limousine.
“Morning, sweetheart!” Charlie greeted him from the breakfast table, throwing the morning paper at him.
Nick barely managed to catch it in his sleepy state. “Morning,” he grumbled. “You look very pleased with yourself this morning. What’s that about?”
“Have a look at the front page,” Charlie smirked, taking a croissant out of the basket and taking a hearty bite, eyes shining.
Nick chuckled, shook his head and looked at the paper in his hand. He could just make out some of Charlie’s shiny curls on a still-folded picture. “Seems like we made the front page with that kiss. Which, by the way, was totally inappropriate, and I’m very cross with you.”
Charlie shrugged. “Sue me!” he grinned. “Now sit down and read.”
Nick went over to the kitchen table, giving Charlie a quick kiss on the cheek before sitting down and unfolding the newspaper. He gasped - and then fell off the chair, crying with laughter.
