Chapter Text
That evening, after Boosfer had walked away to wherever Parrot had asked him to be, Wemmbu was left alone in his little cabin. He didn’t really have much going on for himself, thus he just went around the cherry blossom biome and cut down some trees. He also re-planted saplings from said cherry blossoms for future trees to grow and give more planks.
Standing in front of a cherry blossom, his axe held high as he continuously hacked at the tree before him. It was quite therapeutic hacking at wood to get his anger out. It felt good now that Boosfer was gone, getting to enjoy the quietness of the woods by himself and not having a noisy guy by your side spewing jokes and even if Wemmbu did feel like that helped, he would never admit so out loud. Not like he even could say it out loud due to the injuries he sustained when he got burned by the lava.
Honestly, he wished this tree was Flame because maybe then he would feel like weight got taken off his shoulders, but realistically he knew that was statistically unlikely to happen. So, he would do with harming innocent trees for now. He continued swinging the axe, arching it back and swinging back into the tree again before wiggling the axe free and repeating the process.
He watched as the cherry blossom fell to the ground, leaves swishing together before it hit the dirt and vibrating the air with a thud before it poofed into seven logs and three saplings. Grabbing the logs and shoving them into his inventory, he picked up the three saplings before planting them back into the ground.
With a heavy sigh, he walked to another cluster of trees, chopping down four more and gaining twenty-six more logs, which meant he now had thirty-three logs in total and if that were to be planks then he had one hundred thirty-two, which meant two stacks and four extra. So, a good chunk of wood he thinks.
Walking to the small, and frankly pathetic cabin, he studied it. He did want to change it, and maybe having a better base would mean a happier mode! Welp, time to take that theory to the test.
Well. Three hours later, and one upgraded base later he felt the same. Yeah, that past thought might have been a bit too fictional. But at least he had completed his one and only objective for the time being, of which had been to upgrade the house, which he had done a fantastic job if he said so himself.
It looked real fancy, and that was impressive since Wemmbu himself had never been much of a builder. But he tried this. So that meant different wood types, trapdoors, windows, a roof and of course, leaves. Why leaves? He honestly didn’t know; he just knew some people added leaves to their builds, so he did that as well.
Now, the base building might have made him have about ten silent crash outs and one almost broken hand, no he wouldn’t explain that just know the door was Wemmbu enemy number one. It might have also made him let his guard down without him noticing, so he didn't hear the soft footsteps padding dirt when he stared at his house.
His arms were crossed and a proud smile tugging his lips as he took in his wonderful masterpiece, a real work of art. But when that hand had touched his shoulder, he instinctively grabbed the first weapon his right hand had encircled. His left hand had shot up to the hand on his shoulder, dripping tightly before kicking his left foot at the person's feet.
When he made the move, he felt the person’s feet slip on the ground, which made perfect timing with his move as he threw them over his shoulder. He saw white specks that looked like part of the person as he slammed them into the ground, holding his axe close to the person's throat. Only for his eyes to widen and then soften as he stared into the person's eye.
Letting out a sigh, he put the axe back into his inventory and extended his hand out to Egg that he took and helped himself to his feet. Egg had his suit under the enchanted diamond chest plate he wore. He also had diamond pants, which were also enchanted. While Wemmbu was indeed relieved and happy to see Egg, he wondered just how exactly Egg was here.
Last Wemmbu knew, Egg had been stuck in the end. Wemmbu would know, since he was there when it happened. He still felt a little guilty about that. Egg had one. If Egg didn’t intercept the arrow meant for him, Egg wouldn’t have been stuck in the end in the first place.
“Wemmbu! Boosfer told me to come here, I thought you were dead? Flame said he killed you.” Egg began speaking, looking up at him and awaiting an answer.
Unluckily for Egg, Wemmbu was currently very mute.
Luckily for Egg, he was a very good ‘Wemmbu translator’ and could tell what Wemmbu meant without words.
“Oh. You’re mute?” Egg asked, staring down to Wemmbus neck where the large burn mark was in view of anyone looking.
Wemmbu raised an eyebrow and tilted his head to the side slightly, looking at Egg in a peeved way which Egg just smiled and laughed at. Honestly, Wemmbu had missed Egg, like a lot. So, hearing Egg and seeing him was probably doing a lot of good things for his current mental health.
“Okay dumb question, sorry.” Egg snorted; two wings situated on the same latitude as his iris on the side of his eyes flutter a little, as if they dried a non-existent tear.
“But dude, I am actually happy to see you and everything. Also, Flame is bragging about killing you and saying stuff like ‘oh I killed Wemmbu and therefore the strongest on the server now’, and stuff like that! You totally gotta do something Wemmbu!” Egg started rambling, walking closer to him and putting his hands on either side of his shoulders before shaking him back and forth.
Wemmbu gave Egg a pointed glare, making Egg sheepishly let him go, taking a step back before putting one arm over the other in front of his chest
“Anyways, walk with me?” Egg offered, holding out his hand for Wemmbu to take, which he did. Egg yanked Wemmbu with him as the two began walking, Wemmbu really didn’t know where they were walking, since Egg was leading, but who cares about future destination when the present was peaceful?
Wemmbu watched Egg as they walked; he still had no clue how Egg was alive. He was an eyeball after all. A living, breathing and talking eyeball. And Wemmbu hadn’t met many eyeballs that could talk. Or breath. Or think. Maybe that was why Egg got himself into a lot of hostage situations... Because he was an eye and didn’t have a brain in that head of his. Or should it be called an eye?
Now that he was on this topic, why was his name Egg? Or well, EggChan to be more specific. Was the ‘Chan’ part a last name? But why name a kid Egg? Or why would you be named ‘Chan’ as a last name?
Okay, he was definitely getting off topic here. Also, was Egg speaking to him when he was zoned out? He didn’t have a mouth so Wemmbu couldn’t just see if his mouth was moving. Did Egg even have vocal cords to talk? Of course he had. No vocal cords equal no voice after all.
“-emmbu!” Okay yep, Egg had definitely tried talking to Wemmbu while he was drowning in unanswered and weird questions.
Wemmbu, on instinct, tried to talk. But what came out was only a very hoarse and raspy sounding, almost inhuman, sound that made Wemmbu wince in both pain and unfamiliarity with his own body. Gosh, he hated this. He felt as if his body wasn’t his own at times right now. The inability to speak was a major factor for his worsened health, both mental and physical. Perhaps even emotional and spiritual?
Egg gave him a look of pity and sympathy before he nodded in acknowledgement to Egg.
“You good, man? You zoned out and stared into my, may I remind you, one and only iris like you were searching for my soul to eat.” Egg shuddered, clattering his teeth for dramatic effect, which Wemmbu did not think needed to be added, but this was Egg, and Egg was a bit of a dufus sometimes. In the best way possible.
“Okay, great. Don’t do that again.” Egg stated in a cheery tone whilst the same two wings as before fluttered. Eggs equivalent to a smile, Wemmbu pondered. In his years of knowing Egg, he knew his expressions and mannerisms quite well, after all.
Wemmbu rolled his eyes at Eggs' comment, opting to instead turn his head sideways and look down the mountainside Wemmbu had decided to build his base.
“It’s a very pretty spot for a house,” Egg stated in a proud tone before continuing, “Almost as pretty as you.”
Wemmbu just stared at him blankly, while Egg burst into laughter at his one sides friendly banter.
“You look like you just ate a lemon raw!” Egg wheezed, doubling over and making a show of putting his hands on his knees.
“But hey, at least you won’t be a homeless hobbit anymore.” And to that, Wemmbu flicked his eye forehead. Making Egg flinch back, his lowest set of wings by his head forming a sort of pout.
Crossing his arms, Wemmbu tilted his head slightly to the side while looking up at Egg, unimpressed. Egg sighed before reaching into his inventory and pulling out a bundle of bread wrapped messily with some cloth and string holding said cloth and bread in place. The eye held out the bread to the other, waiting for Wemmbu to take it; which the man indeed did.
Wemmbu nodded his head in thanks while the wings on Egg’s face fluttered and forming a makeshift smile, that Wemmbu returned.
While Wemmbu started munching on a small bread piece, Egg took out a crafting table and put it down on the ground between them. With a raised eyebrow, Wemmbu sent Egg a look which the latter ignored and instead cut down a cherry blossom. Egg started his work with the craffting table, and less than two minutes later, he produced two cherry oak stairs, one fence and one pressure plate.
“Look! Now you have a chair and table set!” Egg said proudly and excitedly, skipping over to the front side of Wemmnbu’s base and putting the fence and pressure plate down first; with the pressure plate atop the fence, acting like a table. The two stairs were placed facing each other and close to the table.
Wemmbu felt as Egg took hold of his forearm, dragging him over to the table and two chairs. Letting Egg manhandle him down to the chair he rolled his eyes before Egg walked to the other free chair, his lowest wing pair fluttering with delight as he placed himself down onto the chair opposite of Wemmbu.
So that is where they sat for a few hours, simply talking (which was really just Egg having one-sided conversations while Wemmbu nodded or did other gestures), eating or playing tic-tac-toe or anything else. Though it soon started getting dark, with the sun setting in the horizon and the moon rising in the opposite horizon.
“It’s nice, isn’t it? Peaceful without people hunting you and everything.” Egg sighed after a moment's silence, looking at the sunset before turning back to look at Wemmbu, both still sitting in their chairs. Wemmbu nodded in agreement to Egg’s statement.
Even if it didn’t show in Wemmbu’s true nature, he did like the quiet and being alone. Not to mention his like for peace and not getting hunted by Flame, Parrot, or anyone else. But from personal experience, Wemmbu knew this peace wasn’t going to last for long, and he despised that thought, maybe even fact if things went the way they always did for Wemmbu.
“By the way, I heard Flame was getting hunted by LettuceK and The Law, and apparently Zam and some others are already imprisoned by him.” Egg suddenly said, taking out a whole ass cake and placing it down on the table between them.
Wemmbu looked at Egg, raising an eyebrow while Egg just took a bite out of the cake.
“Flame ran into The Law after having left the fight with you, Spoke was near the area where Flame and The Law was so he stepped in and helped Flame. But from what I have heard then Spoke and Flame battlled against like a thousand players, with Flame getting captured in the end.” Egg explained while Wemmbu listened intently, nodding along to what his friend said before Egg pulled out a book and quill, hanging it to Wemmbu.
“For you. I have a spare one, but you can have it so it's easier for people to understand you. But you *should* start trying to talk again.” He sighed while Wemmbu opened the book and wrote, turning it to Egg.
‘Whats Law?’ was written across the page in elegant and cursive writing before Egg read it and began explaining what Law was for an hour. About its leader, LettuceK, and the things it did and so forth.
“They have some prisoners, like Zam. And Lettuce is trying to run for king of the entire unstable, he says he’ll execute Flame the first thing when he gets elected.” Egg sighs before standing up, motioning Wemmbu to follow, which he does, and the two of them walked toward a ledge of the mountain they were on top, overlooking a small part of the server.
“But um, well. Lettuce doesn’t know you’re alive, but like. He’ll try to take over the entire server and such. There’s also talk about taking over the Great Sea and thus the pirates.” Egg told Wemmbu, crossing his arms over his chest while looking over at the purple man.
Wemmbu answered Egg by tilting his head and raising an eyebrow, internally asking himself just how this Lettuce dude was planning on taking over a literal ocean.
“The pirates talked about them planning on building an orbital strike cannon, not the ones you have, a different one. But activating that would mean Jaden’s empire is gone. For good.” Egg explained in a saddened tone, either if it was because of the thought of Jaden losing his base or Lettuce getting his hands on an orbital strike cannon was unclear.
“And if you live on the server while Lettuce becomes king, then that means you wouldn’t risk going anywhere. Lettuce would get you if he knew you were alive.” Egg sighed, looking at Wemmbu sadly while the two stood on the edge of the mountain.
“But we can plan more tomorrow.” Egg suggested before they both walked back to the little hut and slept.
