They were in the library together when all of Hubert’s careful conditioning was put to the test. A paperback novel tumbled from Ferdinand’s pudgy hands. He moved to pick it up, a move he had done a million times before. Not recently though, not since the unfathomable amount of weight he had gained, changed almost everything about him.
Hubert watched in silence as Ferdinand made his pathetic attempt. Giggling breathlessly, his face already red with exertion. Exhausted from merely trying to reach around his bloated, swollen body.
