It was a completely ordinary day in Sumeru city. Kaveh woke up early to take down some Halloween decorations from the day before. Him and Al haitham had a party at their house with their friends, but Kaveh didn’t see Al haitham anywhere. It was fine, though. Kaveh didn’t have any clients that day, so that meant that he could chide his annoying junior all day about him skipping the party in his room.
Just as Kaveh was about to climb down the ladder, he felt something cold tapping his leg. He gasped and turned around, making the ladder sway slightly, but when he saw that it was just his roommate, he let out a sigh of relief. Gods, his heart practically leapt out of his chest! “Al haitham! You can’t just sneak up on me like that! You nearly gave me a heart attack!” He complained.
Al haitham looked very unbothered. His expression was neutral like usual and he had his headphones on. He was acting as if he wasn’t absent for the whole party yesterday and he was acting like he didn’t just scare Kaveh half to death. “Kaveh, it’s NNN.” He stated bluntly.
Kaveh’s brows furrowed and he slowly climbed down the ladder and put the string lights that he was holding down on the floor. He wasn’t sure if he had heard Al haitham correctly. Announcing NNN was definitely not something that roommates casually did, lest they frequently had- Kaveh shook his head and blushed. “Why are you telling me this? It’s not really important.”
“Yes it is. No noise November is good for my mental health.” The scribe replied calmly like he wasn’t putting Kaveh through a rollercoaster of emotions all in five minutes.
Kaveh froze and stared at Al haitham like he was some sort of anomaly. “No… Noise November? Al haitham, it’s no nut November.” He muttered because it seemed like Al haitham didn’t understand.
The other man’s expression twisted into a scowl for a few seconds before he reined it down to stoic again. He crossed his arms over his big chest and looked at Kaveh with a hint of disgust in his teal and orange eyes. “If you have such a filthy mind, then perhaps it better suits you to be amongst beasts.”
Kaveh’s eye twitched with irritation and his cheeks were slightly pink from embarrassment. “Ugh, it’s not my fault you made up some weird thing called no noise November!” He threw his arms up in the air in exasperation. “No nut November is the normal thing. I am NOT the weird one here.”
“Well, too bad. You are to be silent for the whole month. Unless you want to be kicked out of my house.”
Kaveh froze for a few seconds and stared at his roommate in shock. “You can’t just use the fact that I live here against me! Besides, the world can’t be completely silent all the time. You need to go out!” The poor architect was convinced that this was some sort of absurd dream. Even Al haitham wouldn’t do this, right…?
Al haitham shrugged and subtly rolled his eyes. “I bought a deprivation tank and waterproof headphones. Besides, I have a whole month off at work and touching grass is a dumb concept. If I wanted to, I have my dendro vision.” He said with no room for argument and showed Kaveh how he could make four diamond shaped dendro mirrors appear.
The blond tilted his head and blinked slowly. He cleared his throat and tried to speak in a softer tone as he processed the vexing information. “So, instead of no nut November, you’re doing no noise November and you’ll kick me out if I make noise?” He paused when Al haitham nodded. “Al haitham, what brought this on? That’s a lot of money spending, even for you.”
Al haitham turned away. “Nothing. I just wish for complete silence.” Then he left as if nothing happened at all.
Kaveh stared at the direction that Al haitham left to. He couldn’t believe how dramatic his roommate was being! He was acting like a kid, buying dumb stuff and making up stupid imaginary events! But… Kaveh didn’t want to get kicked out and it would be nice without Al haitham coming into his room all the time and forcing him to eat while complaining.
Fine, Kaveh would just have to be quiet around Al haitham for a whole month while also not jerking off. No big deal.
