Work Text:
It isn't as dark and gloomy as the books say. It's also not as comforting as you thought it would be. The streets are held in light colors, some houses are even a light shade of blue. You watch with fascination how people walk around, following whatever plan they made for themselves. Your hand slips beneath your coat and you hold onto the pendant around your neck. It's overwhelming, but crowds usually are. So many threads of fate, so many cruel twists of destiny and her sisters. It's impossible for you to mute all of them and from time to time you have to stop and breath in and out three times. It's helping you concentrate, the pendant doing the rest of the work. The two men who were with you stopping every time you did. One single woman to your side, who was holding onto your other hand. She was wearing a pendant as well, but instead of a coat she wore a leather jacket. It was open and the v-neck of her shirt revealed tad bits of her tattoo. It was a combination of the tattoo and the pendant, that shielded her from your prying eyes. Not that you had any intentions of prying anyway. Your fingers tightened around her hand as she pulled you along. The town was left behind and a black car waited at the end of the road. Ushered inside the car, you couldn't see the driver properly. He was sitting in the front and looking straight ahead. He didn't say a word, but you assumed he knew where to go anyway. After all he'd come to pick you up. Fear spiking even more, as you watched the scenery pass by. One of the man to your right, the woman to your left. The second man in the front seat next to the driver. You felt caged in. A shaking sensation in your body, caused you to want to pull your hand out of her's. Wanting to hold yourself, because there was no one to hold you. This time it was her tightening her hold on your hand, making you look up to see her face. She didn't spare you a glance, but stared out the window. However her nose twitched, you knew she could smell your fear. Could tell, all you wanted to do, was jump out of that car. Not like you could, you were human after all.
The woods that had spread to each side of the road got thicker and thicker, until they surrounded a mansion. You would have said a freaking castle, but you only spoke when spoken to. Passing the heavy gates, the road was still about ten minutes, until it reached the main building of the mansion. You were pulled out of the car and dragged along by the woman, your feet feeling heavier and heavier. Until you didn't want to walk anymore. It was looming over you, towering and scaring you. The woman dragging you along, didn't make it better. “I don't want to go” it was the first time for you to speak, ever since you'd been taught to only speak when asked to. She whipped around, her deep whisky colored eyes looked at you with shock. “I don't want to go in there.... I don't want to go....” you repeated over and over, trying to free your tiny hand from her brutal grasp – it had gotten harsher and harsher, when you'd struggled. “Stop being like this, you know you have no place with us...” the woman shouted at you, trying to make you move further, but you struggled even more. Until one of the men had enough and picked you up. He didn't even bother to be nice about it, simply throwing you over his shoulder. When he reached the mansion, all you could was sob softly into the collar of your coat, which had reached your mouth from your position. The huge double doors were thrown wide open and two voices were heard. But you couldn't see and really didn't want to. So you clamped your hands over your ears and tried to sing to yourself in your head. It had worked when the images were too much, some nights. It had worked when your mother had passed away and your dad had grown significantly colder to you. It had worked when you had been dragged from your home, to the airport, into an airplane and away from your country. It had worked when they'd ushered you through Transylvania's airport and to the capital city Sibiu. And it had worked when you'd been brought further out, where the mansion was located. It wasn't working now however, because fear was drowning out the words in your head and the two people didn't wear any protection sigils. Your pendant only blocking 99% of the images, making a few slip through the cracks. “She's your problem now, it was what you promised” the man who was holding you said, while the other dropped your small bag at the front of the stairs. You didn't own much, everything you wore was all you had on clothing. The bag held a few books, some scrolls with instructions about your condition and your growth. That was all you had, no memories to cling to, no belongings to call your own but what was on your body.
You were dropped to the ground, in a flutter of your clothing. Your coat bunching around you, riding up to hide almost half your face. Your hair doing the rest, as well as the scarf that was draped around your head. Your jewelry creating jingling sounds. “So you're just going to abandon her?” the voice was cold and emotionless, making a shiver run down your spine. “We would have killed her, but we were told you might make some worth out of her....” he shrugged his shoulders, but you couldn't see. Eyes glued to your scrapped knees, water filling them up. “Consider our clan done with your lot... this was the last favor you owed us. Don't ever come for us again” no encouraging words towards you, nothing but their footsteps rushing away as quickly as possible. As if you had some virus, they were afraid of catching. Once they were gone far enough, a hurry of steps and something that sounded like a swishing tail came towards you. But you were just too afraid and the images were flashing up again and again. So you did what any child in your age would do. You scrambled to your feet, dodged the person's attempt of reaching you and ran past him. The man who was still standing atop the stairs that lead to the mansion's front door, tried reaching out for you. But in your panic and need to run away and protect yourself, the image of his move popped up. Warning you enough to also elude his touch and run into the mansion. At this point there was no real sure way to know why you were running. Feet carrying you through room after room and staircases up and then another one down. Breathing heavily, only from the corner of your eyes could you see some things. You saw someone bandaged and a man with horns next to him, staring at you wide eyed. You saw something green from the corner of your eyes and a mop of brown hair. Running as if your life depended on it you came to a door that lead to the gardens. The scent of roses, lavender, of forget-me-nots, tulips and lilies and so many more things you did not know by name engulfing you. At this point you had not even registered yet, that tears were spilling from your eyes. Energy leaving your body rapidly and the adrenaline that had kept you running slowly vanishing. Dissolving into tiredness that settled into your bones. “Oh... are you our new guest?” the voice was soft and warm, but still did make you jump. Ready to run again if need be, you were holding yourself on your feet. Though you wanted to just collapse and cry. Teary eyes cast upwards to meet the soft smile of a scarecrow. He knelt down immediately to be on eye-level with you. “Don't be afraid... I'm not going to harm you” he said and added. “In fact no one in this house will. Some may look intimidating, but really they're all nice...” you weren't afraid of him. In fact he was the last one you would be afraid of. You could feel the magic that had made him. Been raised by a doll – brought to life – you knew the magic well. Reminded of how you speaking had not changed a thing, about your current predicament. You only shook your head. However the scarecrow didn't know what to. Maybe you still disagreed and thought they were a scary bunch, out for your life or something. “She's half oracle, half seer.... She can see the future, but only answers when asked....” the scarecrow looked up, not surprised one bit about the owner of the mansion. You on the other hand, were quick to hide behind the scarecrow.
”I think you scared her, Yoongi...” he was gentle, as he picked you up and held you in his arms. You didn't mind being held like that. In possession of only a few memories of your mother. This reminded you of her gentle hold. Face pressed to the scarecrow's neck, you did not respond to anything and didn't spare Yoongi a glance. So the vampire's name was Yoongi. “I didn't even talk to her, she just ran away when Tae tried to talk to her....” he said, his voice was gruff. But you did notice the underlying soft tone in it. It took away the edge you had heard before. “It has to be overwhelming for her....” the scarecrow who's name you didn't know yet, pulled you away a little so he could look at your face. “What is your name, little one?” he asked you. “(Y/N)” you replied to him. “I'm Hoseok, but everyone calls me Hobi. You can too, if you want to...” you did like that. But you weren't allowed to talk, unless you were asked. Last time just showed that it made no difference wether you talked or not. “You can talk you know? What those people taught you, about yourself isn't quite right...” You turned your head from Hobi, to Yoongi. Now you were curious. When your eyes met his red ones, you tilted your head to the side. You didn't get any more flashes of his future, nor did you get tidbits of his past anymore. In fact he was just normal to you now. Much like the scarecrow had been. “So you noticed?”, “Yes....” he ran a hand through his platinum blonde hair, sighing irritatedly. Hobi seemed confused, but moved you so he could hold you to the side. His arm placed under your but, making the coat bunch around his arm. Palm pressed to your left leg so he could keep your balance. You had your arms curled around his neck and held yourself to him. You did trust him the most, your doll had been your mother, your best friend and your confidant. So you were sure, you could trust the scarecrow too. Especially with that beautiful smile. “I will explain everything to you, once you've met everyone. Since you will be living here, for I don't know how long. You better get used to everyone” he meant it as little threatening as possible, he was just irritated with your people. And the urge to rip their throats out for treating a child like that, had still to dissipate. Arms tightening around Hobi's neck, you kept your face pressed to his neck again, meaning for Yoongi to know, you would only come if Hobi would too. “Don't worry, I'm part of the house” he winked, but you couldn't see. You only kept on holding onto him.
Taehyung's hearing had been quiet handy into making everyone assemble in the dinning-room. All of them were seated around the table and waited for Yoongi and Hobi to enter, with their newcomer. When they did, Seokjin had to put his hand on Taehyung's shoulder to stop him from jumping towards you. The last they wanted, was to scare you even more. A small soft smile forming on the demon's lips when he saw you clinging to Hobi. If anyone could make you warm up instantly to them, it was either Jimin or Hoseok. “Now, now. If you don't look, you won't know who's name is who's...” Hoseok said and brushed his free hand over your back. He would have run it through your hair, but the headdress hindered him. Slowly lifting your head, you looked at the people assembled. “This is Seokjin, he's an Incubus and the grandson of Satan” Yoongi dismissively waved his hand in the direction of the man with two black horns. His tail was pointy and swishing behind him. “Next to him is Namjoon, he's a mummy....” the man's blue lined eyes looked directly into yours. He smiled a little bit, showing deep dimples in the sides of his cheeks. Bandages were around his neck, arms and wrists. “Then we have Jeongguk, he's a... for lack of better word he's a Zombie. He's been resurrected by someone...” you had heard of necromancy, but he didn't look as he should. Still you just nodded your head, still holding onto the scarecrow. You were less afraid to see them all seated like that next to one another. Noticing how Jeongguk was holding hands with the man next to him. “Next to Kookie, we have Jimin a wizard.” another nod. He was pretty and he gave of the same vibes that Hobi did. “I'm Taehyung! I'm a werewolf!” the vampire was interrupted by an overeager Taehyung. Who looked more like a puppy, than a werewolf. You had been afraid at first, but you were quickly ridden of the fear. Especially with his tail wagging behind him with excitement. “Her name is (Y/N) and she's half oracle, half seer....” Seokjin's head tilted to the side. “That's impossible....” he said and you tilted your own head in response. You were alive, so it had to be possible right? Your mother had been an oracle, sworn to serve only the gods. But she had fallen in love with your father. The head of your clan, who had sought out answers from the gods. Not nine months later, you were born to the world. That you were a seer only manifested when you turned five and started to have flashes of people's futures, sometimes even past. Ever since then your father had been more on edge than possible. Your mother shunned from the temple she had been the high priestess of, lived as your dad's mistress. When she passed away, your father could no longer feel anything, but hate towards the girl that looked too much like her mother. Due to business back in the day, the Min family still owed him a favor and that's how you found yourself in the mansion.
”Jimin and Seokjin were able to create a permanent solution to your seer abilities in our regard...” Yoongi explained to you, when once more you noticed how you did not have any more flashes of anything. “He is a very skilled wizard and Seokjin's knowledge helped. You don't get any more random flashes, until you are fully grown into your powers...” the vampire explained. Then turned to his friends. “I owed her clan a favor and they cashed it in...” he took a deep breath. “(Y/N) is going to be part of this mansion, until she's decided for herself what she wants to do with her life. At a reasonable age of course” you had the feeling that was more to you than to the other's in the mansion. Like he wanted you to know, that you could call this home until you decided, what you actual wanted to call home for yourself. “So we can play together?” Taehyung could no longer sit still and came bounding to Hobi and you. You of course did still flinch away from him, it was his over excited display of blatant happiness, that scared you a little. “Maybe we should show (Y/N) first her room and she could sleep a bit. Because the trip, must have been very tiring. And tomorrow you can play all day long. If (Y/N) wants that is... alright, TaeTae?” he wanted to play now, but he also knew how she must feel. He had been in a similar situation – his family had been killed of though – but he understood. So he nodded his head, his ears dropping a little. When your ring and bracelet clad hand reached out to pet his head though, the beaming expression was back on. You wanted to let him know, that you wanted to play with him some day. Just not now, when everything was still scary and too much. Though the fear was barely existent anymore. They seemed like a really nice bunch of supernatural beings. The weirdest group you'd ever seen, but seemingly nice nonetheless. Shown to your room, you were also told you could put your things wherever you wanted in the room. It was big and held a desk, a bed, shelves, a wardrobe, some more shelves with books already in place. A walk in bathroom and some more things for you to later explore. However it was big and you quickly felt alone in it. Hoseok had left you in the room, after asking you twice if you would be okay. And you'd thought you would. After all you wanted to be left alone for a bit, right? It seemed dead wrong. In the clan you'd lived, there were always people. You didn't have a room, but a small shrine you had to sit in every day and night. People came to every hour, to ask you things. And you had to answer, ever since you could. They sometimes asked for god's guidance, sometimes for their future. And each time came back to give you hell for your answers. It wasn't like you did tell him bad things, because you liked to see them suffer. It was because you couldn't tell any lies. Everything you said was the honest truth. So when Hobi asked you wether you'd be okay, it had been the honest truth in that moment. But now you felt anything but. The room was too big, the bed was too big and everything – was just too big-. Since you were used to people to come to you at any hour of the day, any little noise you heard did startle you a little. Realizing that you couldn't stay in the room by yourself, you walked out of it. To be faced with the longest and darkest hallway of your life. You had been at your father's house only twice, your mother and you had basically lived in the shrine. The backroom that was attached to it – for your mother. So she could provide you with food and the necessities you would need to survive-. It wasn't living really.
Deciding that aimlessly walking around, would only result in trouble for the other occupants of the mansion, you stayed right in front of your door. Sitting down as you'd been taught on your knees, you simply waited. Hours passed by in which you waited for anyone to pass by and ask for something to know. Your legs started to hurt and you could barely keep awake. Exhaustion finally catching up with your little ten year old body and mind. You were a child basically. Even with the wisdom and knowledge of gods and the past-present and future. You were nothing but a child, thrown into a world much larger than themselves and with no one to protect them. In times like this you remembered your mother's singing and that in the confines of your and her world you were allowed to speak. Yoongi had said so as well, you were allowed to speak without anything happening. So you did. Because this was the only way for you, to feel less alone, to feel less frightened and too small for a too big world.”Hush little baby, don't say a word. Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird won't sing. Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring. And if that diamond ring turns brass, Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass.” the song was one of the few things you remembered about her. The soft melodic voice, gentle arms and warm skin underneath tattered clothing. Her long hair that would tickle your cheeks, let you listen to her heartbeat as she sang for you, to sleep. Though you could never fully sleep, it was those few moments that kept you from falling apart at such a tender age. You couldn't help the tears build up again, the day taking it's tall on you by now. “And if that looking glass gets broke, Papa's gonna buy you a billy goat. And if that billy goat won't pull. Papa's gonna buy you a cart and a bull.....” they were falling down your cheeks now. Pearling off of your lower eyelashes, dropping onto your round cheeks and running to collect at your chin. You couldn't help the hiccups that were coming with the crying. But you did not stop your song, because it had to help you now. You had no one else to relay on. Especially since you didn't want to bother the other's. Or they'd give you away too, maybe even kill you. After all the man had said, your former clan had toyed with the idea of ending your life. Your shoulders shook, as you lifted your accessory adorned hands and arms to your face. To rub at your eyes, your shaky voice carrying on with the song. “And if that card and bull turn over, Papa's gonna buy you a dog named Rover. And if that dog named Rover won't bark. Papa's gonna buy you a horse and cart. And if that horse and cart fall down. You'll still be the sweetest little baby in town...”. Repeating the song over and over, your words started to slur. Tired and scared, your tiny body could barely hold itself up anymore. Maybe that was why you missed the voices, or how there were several feet padding your way. “Oh my!” You were scooped up from the ground, too tired to cry out in fear or even feel scared. “Shhhhh.... you're okay... you're fine...” you could smell the flowers on him and straw. Knew instinctively almost, that he was no harm to you. Clinging with your tiny hands to his neck and shoulder. “It's alright... it's okay... we got you....” Looking over your headdress towards Seokjin who stood on the other side, he looked heartbroken for the child in his arms. “I suppose the journey and the conversations were too much for her. Even if she's quite mature for her age, she's still ten.... I wonder what those.... what they did to her...” he whispered quietly, as to not startle you any more. But your sobbing had ceased the moment you'd been held by Hoseok. To a quiet sniffling, until it evened out into breathing. A sign that you were finally asleep. Hoseok would have put you in bed and covered you with a blanket, so you would have a good position for a good nights rest. But you were clinging onto him too tightly and he didn't want to wake you. So he simply laid back in the bed and let you rest against his chest. Usually something a father or mother would do with a newborn baby, but he didn't mind the position. He didn't sleep anyway.
Seokjin simply sat down on the other side of the bed. “You can go back to Namjoon if you'd like....” Hoseok offered his friend, after all he knew that Seokjin loved to watch Namjoon wake. “It's alright... I think it's best for her to know, all of us will always be here if she's afraid. Or even if she needs someone. That she didn't come looking for us, but stayed there....” he sighed. “I really wonder sometimes about humans and their ability to be even more cruel than any demon....” Hoseok didn't say anything. He knew there were enough people out there to judge Jin's kind, but he also knew that for every one of them, there was a good deed Jin had done to prove them wrong. “She is so tiny, even smaller than Yoongi and Tae were in her age... Or well what is comparable to her age...” he was worried, worried for you to be sick, or malnourished. “They didn't treat her right...” was all the Incubus said. They stayed seated like that, with you slowly breathing in and out against Hoseok's chest. At one point you had let go of him, to hold your right ear with your one hand. And push your thumb between your lips with the other. That little display of childlike innocence, only had Seokjin's blood boil more, for the way you'd been treated. Seer's were randomly born, there was no gene to transfer, you could not acquire that ability or steal it. It was different with Oracles. That you were born from the high priestess itself had not been the crime, the crime had been that she'd done it before her years of retirement. Up until their 35th birthday an Oracle was required to follow the rules of the gods. They had to tell their word and their word only and devote their body to them. On the night of their 35th birthday however they were given a dream, in which they were told who and how had to father one single child. Who had to follow in their parents footsteps. Your mother had been barely 21 when she'd disregarded the god's words for your father and given birth to you. Ever since then the temple which she had been enslaved to, had fallen to ruin and despair. Long lost in the ages. Oracles slowly aged one of their years was similar to a hundred of a human. Which meant that once you hit 16 and puberty your aging would slow down. Though since you were part seer as it seemed. You would still mature to 21 and then stop maturing at all. Seer's were immortal, meant to serve the world till it's end. It was complex and no one really knew how these things were determined or even brought to the world. Seokjin was pretty sure hell would have records about that – his grandfather had always liked to be informed of everything. The incubus was wondering how your mother had died. If she was an oracle and from your strong aura as one she had to be one. She should have easily outlived your human father. Something did not add up and he knew you didn't know for sure. Not telling his friend to his right about his train of thought, he would make sure to let Yoongi know later however. Maybe they could figure out what truly happened and one day you might want to know.
The following weeks were spent, with each of them trying to help you settle in. Taehyung would play with you whenever he could, making you hide while he sought you out. Playing tag with you Jimin and Jeongguk. Or even sleeping next to you on the big bed of yours. Occasionally both you and Taehyung would sleep in Yoongi's bed. As the vampire had shown many soft sides to you, which you would have never guessed him to have. He would always make sure the maids made your favorite food. Read to you and Taehyung from books or show you paintings and pictures of the world, you had yet to see. He also patiently answered questions you had regarding your own kind – most of the time with Seokjin's help. When it came to studying, you had to put in four hours a day as Jeongguk and Taehyung had to do before you. But you really didn't mind, knowledge and wisdom were things associated with your kind and you greedily sucked everything up you could get. It had surprised them that you could not read nor write and had to be taught those first. But Namjoon was fully in his element and enjoyed doing so. The few times you'd asked awkward questions were the exception, but then again how could you not, with an incubus in house. Jimin was similar to Hoseok and therefore you warmed up to him fairly quickly. Spending hours with him showing you his magic, or you telling him of a new spell you'd read somewhere. While Jeongguk wandered around the woods with you. Sometimes Taehyung would tag along, but it usually was silent walks. There didn't need to be said much, just the occasional change of direction and the quiet around you. He also could be very much fun, when it came to playing hide and seek, tag or any other games. Jeongguk was really competitive. Seokjin took you to town to do shopping more often than not, he showed you many stores. Taught you human mannerisms the others – except for Jimin – couldn't. He would always say it was easier to blend in. That you were taking to his style, did annoy Yoongi a great deal. Especially since the incubus had somehow gotten Taehyung around as well. The demon also became your source of advice regarding emotions and your still lacking connection of theirs. Then there was Hoseok, sweet and wonderful Hoseok. Who was your source of comfort, your source of smiles and laughter that could be heard all over the garden. Who showed you birds and ravens and flowers in abundance. Who would let you sleep next to him, curled to his side listening to him sing your mother's lullaby off key. Who would always have a smile and tender touch to offer. Advice whenever you needed it or a warm tight hug to make you feel less lonely. Hoseok was purely the center of your world and even if he was simply a scarecrow brought to life, you could not love anyone more than you did him. Life seemed wonderful at the mansion and you loosened up. Years passed quicker than any could have thought. So when a boy in town confessed to you, in front of Seokjin during a shopping trip, all hell broke loose.
The boy was a young man of sixteen years. You were sixteen yourself by now, six years flying past you and the other's like a breeze. You couldn't even see the six years on any of them, except for yourself. After all you were now growing into a young woman, curves appearing where none had used to be. And the first time you had to buy a bra and pads, had been the most mortifying and scaring moment to everyone except for the hyungs. Seokjin had sisters and although they were demons – they did have human friends and new the problems of bad fitting bra's and cramps. Yoongi knew pureblood vampire women, who could tear towns apart when angered on their period. And Namjoon had been taught many things, these things included. While Hoseok was just a “man” who took things in stride. So when your first period hit, he read up on things to do and was a great deal of help. While Jeongguk wished to not know anything and be kept out of it. Taehyung was confused why you smelled like blood and if you were okay or injured. And Jimin had to stop Taehyung from doing any more accidentally -curious damage- while blushing like a johnny pump. In the end you were prepared for the next months and periods to come. Yoongi insisted Seokjin take you to town and have a doctor check you out. Birth control is important, he's not ready yet to become some sort of grandfather in his own mansion. While at it the incubus had also helped you in picking up some bras and clothing that would fit better your age and suit you more. On that one trip, the young man who'd been watching you for the past years. Had finally found the guts to ask you out. Poor him though was not prepared for the rejection of a lifetime. “You should ask the butchers daughter, you two will grow to love one another and you will father two children. Make sure you don't feed the second child any peanuts. He's allergic to them....” while the boy had looked mortified, Seokjin had barely contained any laughter. You had learned to control most of your powers, but not yet how to be subtle about it. The seer would always kick in at random times and make you predict things, without intending to. Like you'd predicted that the Vampire would walk in on Jimin and Jeongguk, just a little too late to warn the vampire about it. The two young adults hadn't been up for anything of a more intimate nature for a couple of weeks after that. Back to the boy who'd confessed to you. Who could not grasp that you could not tell any lies, he demanded of you to tell him the truth. “Just tell me if you're in love with someone else?!”. You were about to tell him that you couldn't lie and were a Seer. When you stopped, right before the words could pass your lips. He had asked a question and your Oracle nature was just as pressured to answer as your Seer nature had been. “He's not a man, but he still is” clamping your hands over your mouth out of shock you looked to the horned man for help. Deciding enough was enough with this childish play of that boy, the Incubus swept in and charmed the boy into leaving both of you alone. Yet all of this did just pass you, you were too much in shock. “We should head back, or the others will finish dinner without us” not like Seokjin cared for dinner, as he fed from sexual energy. And the mansion was so greatly stocked that whatever the other's ate, could be redone in seconds. Numbly you followed him as he lead you back. It was when you were reaching for the door, that you stopped the demon with a tight hold on his wrist. You were in no way hurting him, but he stopped walking anyway. “What's wrong?” he asked you. “You can't tell him... you can't tell anyone. Not even Namjoon, please...”, “Don't you th-” you cut him off. “He can't know please, I don't understand this. And he won't feel the same, it's different wit him. Please Seokjin... I don't want to feel weird around him... or for him to feel awkward around me... please...” he couldn't say no. Not when he could see the lingering tears, ready to pour out of your eyes. Instead he swallowed all he wanted to say and nodded his head with a heavy sigh. “As you wish.”
True to his word, he didn't say anything and no one found out. You spent less time with Hoseok than you used to, but it was easily explained with how much homework you had to do. After all your coming off age ceremony wasn't far away. And you would have to decide wether you wanted to be a full fledged Oracle or a Seer. It would not change your nature of being both, but one of the two would provide you with more power for their nature and strengthen your bond to it. In lights of those events you wanted to get your body decorated in the way, your mother had. Not because you thought the high-priestess from Istanbul deserved to be remembered. But because your mom had loved being a high priestess and had loved to be the oracle of her shrine. You would change their decorations slightly, to adjust them to yourself, the people you called your home and in memorial to your mother. Of course spending less time with Hoseok didn't mean, you didn't spend any time with him. You would occasionally seek him out to help him in the gardens, or talk to him. He never said anything about you not being there much anymore. But secretly he missed you by his side. “So I thought I would get them all in once you know? It's better than small portions of pain...” you explained. After all you were still human, until your 21st birthday. The sigils and runes had to be put on your body four years at least, before your coming off age. It was something about ritual protocol, though you really understand little of it. “I don't know, (Y/N)... maybe you should just stick to the pretty jewelry you usually wear? It's not ass painful as getting so many holes and needles in your body is it?” he was concerned for you. The pain was very much real and Hoseok had heard of people having blood poisoning from tattooing. Or piercings getting infected. He didn't want you to go through that much pain, just out of a feeling of obligation to your dead mother. “Do you think I can't do it?” you were offended somehow. Tae had gotten his ear pierced, Seokjin had his pierced, Namjoon had several jewelry added to his skin. And you knew for a fact that Jeongguk was toying with the idea of matching tattoos for him and Jimin. He hadn't made a fuss like that for any of them. “Just because I am the only vulnerable one here?” the scarecrow tried to calm you down a little, sensing how you were working yourself up. “That's not what I meant. But you don't believe in the high-priestesses right? Is it really necessary to change your body for them? They no longer exist, Jin said that.....” you didn't want to hear what Jin had said. Or whatever stupid reasoning Hoseok had. He just didn't understand, belittled you. Would always treat you like a little child. Somehow all the muted feelings and suppressed feelings changed sides with anger. And you were blowing up, right into his gentle face. “You don't understand. Because you're not a human, you don't have a mother or a family. You.... you're just a scarecrow, that will forever treat me like a child! But I'm not your daughter!” your hands clamping down on your mouth, the second all of that left you. Wide eyes filled with tears, too afraid to meet his gaze. Afraid of what you'd just said and done, you did the only thing you knew how to do. You ran away.
You didn't run to the mansion, no one would be able to forgive you for what you'd said to Hoseok. Hell you couldn't forgive yourself for it. Running as fast as your legs could carry you, you made it for the woods. Predicting that it would be raining, you knew it would throw off Taehyung and Yoongi if they were to look for you. Though you doubted it. All you'd done so far was cost the Vampire money and burden everyone with the lack of your knowledge. Up until now you hadn't done much help and now you'd hurt the only one you had really loved. Or at least you thought you had loved him. How could you say such harsh things to someone you loved? You couldn't, because they had all been right. The clan, the high-priestess before. Oracles and Seers weren't made for love, they didn't deserve it. Least of them all, you. By the time you collapsed to the ground, it had started to rain and you'd lost your way. The mansion was so far behind you now, that you could not see it anymore. Instead you were walking around aimlessly, trying to find shelter from the rain. Finding a big tree, who's ground was pretty much dry, you curled against it's trunk. Holding yourself together in your jeans and thin t-shirt, you shivered. Waiting for the rain to stop you closed your eyes and sobbed. It didn't matter anyway, no one would hear or witness, the rain was washing away your evidence of a breaking heart and sinking heart. Exhaustion was curling it's tendrils across your limbs, like you'd only felt when you'd been a ten year old or younger. You'd almost forgotten how it felt, to be drained of energy and afraid. They weren't feelings you had wanted to experience again, but you'd brought it onto yourself. “Look at that...” you jumped in your place, when two men approached you from the other side of some bushes. “Told you I had located a pretty strong presence...” one of the two men said to the other. They were wearing clothes you'd never seen before, hoods covered their heads and threw shadows down to their lips. Before you could react, one of them threw some sort of powder into your direction. Forming a perfect circle around you, the powder was muting your powers as a Seer. Making it unable to predict any of their movements. “She's a Seer....” the man who'd thrown the powder said. “Oh they'll pay a lot for a young Seer, not even yet into her ceremony....” the other smirked. “Was it Oracles or Seers that had to be virgins to be sold high?” panic grew inside of you. This was definitely not a good situation and you had no one but yourself to fight them off. But your offensive powers would only make an appearance after your coming off age. And even then it wasn't sure you'd have any, you could always be a heeling Seer. Or an Oracle without any power, but the god's divine answers.
”Nah man, these days no one cares wether they're virgin or not. You know some are born with out” the other chuckled dirtily at his own words. “Might as well have some fun with her, before we sell her. Can't belong to anyone anyway. Not the way she looks and where she's hiding. Probably a street kid, aren't you?”approaching you one of them held a cuff. It was one with sigils you recognized. Binding ones, others that drained you of energy. And another that was supposed to make you follow their command. If he were to slap it on your wrist successfully. “Don't come any closer...” shaking voice and wide panicked eyes did nothing to deter those men, from inching closer. “Don't touch me....” you tried to shy away into the safety of the tree's trunk behind you. But there was only so much space you could move in. The powder's circle enabling you from going anywhere. “Please don't....” you didn't know what else to do but plead. Hoseok appearing in your mind and how sorry you were that your last words to him, were words of hateful nature. You were so sorry for the trouble you'd caused and all you really wanted was a chance to apologize. One of them grabbed your wrist, yanked you forward. He curled his other hand into your long hair and pushed your head down into the mud. That way he could hold your wrists on your back. “Don't... let go of me!” you screamed bloody murder . Trying to trash in the man's grip. He used his now free hand to hold around your throat and close off your air supply. Making it harder for you to breath and scream. Weakly trying to push him away. As the other followed his friend into the circle to put the cuff on you. But the cuff never came, instead a whooshing sound resonated around you and the men in the dark woods. Followed by a thud, a growl so loud it made the one holding you shake down to his boots. Shredding sounds of clothes ripping and splattering of liquid to ground. Then the weight on top of you was lifted and you could finally get up on your knees. Hands in the dirt, mud up to your elbows and covering your front completely. You could finally see what was happening. Taehyung in his full fledged wolf form had ripped the man with the cuff to shreds. While the other one was held to a tree by his neck. Seokjin staring him right in the eyes. You couldn't see what he was doing, while his back was towards you. But the man tried to shake the demon off, clawed at his arms – not causing any damage to the Incubus – until he fell limp and he threw him to the side. Then the demon turned to look at you and his expression was one you'd never seen before. Incredibly sad, so sad that it made you cry once more. It seemed like that was all you ever did. “Please tell me he didn't touch you... because if he did. I will personally find his soul and torture it more, than anyone could ever.” Still crying, confusion was displayed on your face. Until you noticed how horrible you must have looked to Seokjin and Taehyung, who was making whining sounds. His snout touching your shoulder, his front paws nudging at you. “I … n-no... he didn't...” Seokjin didn't get the chance to walk over to you, when more sounds disturbed the quietness of the woods. Branches were broken, feet stomped over. Arms wrapped around you, you found yourself in a tight and warm embrace. The scent of a flower garden and straw engulfing you.
”I couldn't find you. And you ran away and it rained and I couldn't find you.” over and over again Hoseok repeated those words. Holding onto you even tighter, with the shaking of your shoulders and the soft sobbing sounds coming from you. “I was so worried for you and I was looking everywhere. Don't do this ever again to me. Run to the mansion, hide on the property... avoid me all you want. But don't run away like this. Don't ever run away please...” he had his face buried in your neck. “I'm sorry I don't understand humans and I am sorry, I don't know how to properly tell you, that I am worried. I am so worried you'll get hurt and we can't help you. Because no one seriously gets hurt here, it just happens once in a blue moon and we usually use magic and everything....:” by now he was babbling and you couldn't tell what was greater. Your need to just hold him and cry against his shirt. Or to tell him that you were sorry and all of this was your fault from the beginning. Letting go of him, you wanted to sit back and apologize, looking into his beautifully sunny scarecrow face. But he wouldn't let go of you, instead tightening his grip even further, almost bruising at this point. Seeing no way out to apologize, you chose to do it anyway. “I am sorry for what I said. I didn't mean it like that. But... I like you Hobi... I like you so much, that the thought you could treat me like a child, even though I am becoming an adult... it scared me... I want to stay with you forever, I don't care of you're human or not. I don't give a single fuck for whatever is to come... I just want to stay by your side....”he ran his fingers through your long hair, twigs and leaves brushed out with his gentle fingers. “This is your home, we're your family. We won't let you go that easily....” he hadn't understood the meaning of your words. How deep your “like” for him actually ran. But it was alright. To be with him, to be part of his family was enough for you. It was enough if it meant you could see him every single day of your life. If you could be with him till the day everything ended. And with that exact same decision you knew what you wanted to be. A Seer who could offer more than just cryptic words by gods. You wanted to see the future, as hard as it could be. You wanted to see all the paths, so you could protect this family of yours. Even if it meant to give up a normal life, of normal dreams. Even if chances could be higher for people to try and get their hands on you. You knew, that with your once awakened powers and those people around you. You could fight anyone and take everything on. Everything to watch Hobi's sun-like smile. To fall asleep next to him and wake up to his beautiful and cute morning ways. “This is my home... you are my home...” and with that it was settled. No one would be as loved as Hobi was. No one would ever be yours and you would not burden another generation of your bloodline with your fate. But you would be loved and love. You would live forever, with a group of extraordinary beings. Beings that were so much more than words could ever grasp.
