The Stains of Twenty Years

Summary:

November 2025 Drabble Challenge
Day 2: Fading

"Edgar’s parents left him the contents of a storage unit. The other three help him dig through it, to relive their own pasts vicariously."

Notes:

It turns out drabbles are really hard to do for an OT4. You just can't juggle four characters within the span of 100 words. But that won't stop me!

I'm doing this challenge for a mix of fandoms, probably mostly Psychonauts, Ghosts, and Zero Escape, with some other stuff mixed in.

Work Text:

Edgar’s parents left him the contents of a storage unit. The other three help him dig through it, to relive their own pasts vicariously.

“They took horrible care of your paintings,” sneers Boyd. “Look how washed out the colors are.”

“They never understood my hobbies.” Edgar shrugs good-naturedly. “I’m just glad they kept them.”

They don’t keep much, but Gloria holds on to what might have been the very first painting of the bull. The horns and snout have faded from fuchsia to blush, much like they have in the depths of her love’s mind. It is good to remember.
