Natasha was ready for the night off she finally had. It had been way too long since she had been able to take any time for herself. There had been just one emergency after another that only she or her teams could handle. Which left her no time to relax in any way.
So the moment she could she took off to another city where there was a place that she could relax and take time for herself.
Only there was someone in her apartment when she got there. Squaring herself up for a fight, Natasha crept further into the space that should have been a safe house, wondering who would have thought to possibly break into it.
All that left her in a second when she saw who was waiting for her. It wasn't an assailant, but instead it was her girlfriend, Diana.
"I expected you would come here," she said when Natasha came fully into view. "I hope my presence is welcome."
Natasha went and settled next to her on the couch.
"Of course it is," she said. "I need you as much as I need to be away from everyone else."
"Good," Diana said. "Because I am not going anywhere tonight. Or for the next week."
Natasha leaned into her side, settling into the warmth of Diana's body, reveling in the warmer than human feeling of the demigod.
"You're in luck then," she said. "I have been told only the end of the world will call me back in the next two weeks."
"Really? They agreed to that?"
"With a few threats. But I really need the time off. I have been on the edge of killing one of my teammates for weeks."
Diana chuckled.
"I know that feeling very well. But at least you are here."
