Jeremy’s head feels fuzzy.
He’s shaky.
Disorientated.
It’s hard to speak, his words threatening to come out scrambled unless he spends ages rearranging them before he talks.
His thoughts come in fits and starts, tangled and confusing.
But he knows one thing for certain:
He needs to retrieve the library’s only copy of 50 Great Coastal Walks of the British Isles Vol. 2. And if he doesn’t, he feels like something terrible will happen.
The Silent Singer is always there, taunting him in the corners of his vision.
He wants to cry. He doesn’t.
He has a book to find.
