The unknown waters

Summary:

One day

Percy Jackson and his formerly adoptive, but still brother in all but blood Harry Evans-Jackson had to survive one more day at school before they could go back to camp, but it was not to be as Percy gets attacked by giants during PE and they hear something terrible is happening at camp.

Thalia's tree has been poisoned and the protection around camp Half-blood is fading with Chiron being blamed and banished for it. If they don't do something fast, monsters will overrun the only safe place demigods have. The only solution is to find the golden fleece across the sea of monsters.

Percy's also been having very strange dreams about Grover being in huge trouble and he'll stop at nothing to save his friend as he and Harry sneak onto the quest after getting a nudge from Hermes while technically not being invited as Grover was their very first friend

While all of that is going on, both Harry and Percy have to deal with changing relationships, new family members appearing and the knowledge that things will only get darker from now on

Percy Jackson was in trouble.

He was currently in the gym of his school, just one day away from going back to camp even if his mother had told him Chiron had called her and said that camp wasn't safe and now, he was currently being attacked by a bunch of giants who had locked him and the other students inside and were throwing fireballs at him and his only friend who wasn't Harry, Tyson with the rest of his class probably seeing them throw molotov cocktails or something.

On Percy's arm, a leather bracelet his formerly adoptive brother Harry had given him for Christmas was warm to the touch, but Percy just assumed that it was because of the fireballs. He had just ducked another fireball when he heard one of his classmates shouting "It's open!" All the students rushed out of the door to the locker room as the giants roared in anger at seeing their meals escape as one tried to close the door again.

An arrow flew through the air above the students before he could and buried itself into his eye as he roared in pain and one eight year old boy managed to get in: Harry himself. As the son of Apollo, God of the sun, archery, healing, etc, Harry's aim was practically impeccable as he continued to shoot arrows at the giants and used his small and agile body to stay out of their reach. Percy immediately understood his brother had used his magic to open the doors, but he did wonder how on earth he had managed to get his bow and quiver filled with arrows to school without anyone noticing.

Between the two demigods and surprisingly Tyson as he managed to throw the fireballs back, they soon had two out of three giants defeated and the last one was killed by a very surprising ally: Harry's and Percy's friend Annabeth. The girl told them camp was in trouble, to meet her in a nearby ally and to bring Tyson with them, looking at him like he was nothing but dog poop underneath her shoe, before putting up her cap and disappearing again.

When the teachers arrived and demanded an explanation, the brothers shared a look, grabbed one of Tyson's arms each and ran out as fast as they could. "One day! We were one day away from having gone a full school year without incident! Our mothers are going to kill us!" Harry complained as they met with Annabeth as firefighters and police rushed past them with sirens blaring and Harry frowned as she continued to treat Tyson like crap.

With him and Percy in different years while at school and not living together anymore ever since his biological mother Lily had been returned to him by Hades and he lived with her, he hadn't seen him as much as they used to, so he didn't know Tyson that well, but he was nice if not exactly the smartest person around and Annabeth was honestly treating him like he was some kind of.... monster. He looked really closely at Tyson while Percy and Annabeth were arguing and saw that instead of having two eyes very close to each other... Tyson only had one. He was a cyclops.

"Aren't most cyclopes children of Poseidon too? No wonder Percy is his only friend.' He thought as Annabeth explained the giants were a race of cannibals that had a name neither Harry nor Percy were even going to begin to pronounce that usually lived north and how she had been chased by monsters all the way from Virginia trying to get to them. She said she knew a way to camp and to bring Tyson with them, once again saying it like he was a disease.

"Are cyclopes bad news?" Harry asked as they followed her, Percy letting out a "what?!" Harry looked at him. "I get why I only put two and two together just now as I haven't met Tyson that often since you always switch between who you spend time with after school, even if his presence was likely the reason why no monsters have attacked us until today, but what's your excuse?" He asked as Percy opened and closed his mouth like a fish.

While he was asking this, Annabeth managed to get a drachma from her pockets and used it to summon the taxi of the Grey Sisters. What happened next was the taxi drive from hell and since both Harry and Percy had actually been in the Underworld, that was saying something as Harry had to sit on his brother's lapand they were wildly thrown back-and-forth on the backseat. "By the way, Harry. How did you manage to open the door? The giants used magic to lock it." Annabeth commented and Percy asked if now was the best time, but Harry answered anyway.

Anything to distract him from the horrible drive was something he was going to take as the sisters were starting to fight over their one eye. "I've been exchanging letters with the direct children of Hecate and they and mum have been teaching me how to harness and control my magic before I get my wand so I won't get into even more trouble as my magic isn't hidden by the mist. I just envisioned it open and... ew!" He exclaimed as the eye flew over to them.

He instinctively caught it as his hand-eye coordination was pretty good as well, only to realise that he was now holding an eye and immediately throwing it back as the driver caught it. "Thank you!" She screeched as she put it in her socket as they soon finally arrived at camp to see it really was under attack with a small handful of demigods trying to defend themselves against two bronze, fire-breathing bulls. Harry immediately scrambled to get out of the taxi.

Not just because he was desperate to get out of the horrible taxi, but also because he saw one of the campers was his friend Clarisse,. Even though pretty much all the campers of the Ares cabin absolutely hated Percy since he had fought and defeated their father, Harry was seen as okay by them thanks to his friendship with Clarisse and because he had nothing to do with that fight. He immediately got out another arrow from the quiver and aimed it at one of the bulls, the arrow bouncing off its hide and informing it that there were more targets as the trio charged towards them.

This thankfully also informed the campers that backup had arrived without distracting them. Harry managed to get another arrow into the eye of one of the bulls as it roared in pain after Percy had cut it in the side. This allowed Clarisse to run it through and defeat it while Tyson took care of the other bull once Annabeth had let him in. "What on earth happened here?!" Harry demanded to know as he leaned on his bow and Clarisse patted his back.

"That's a long story, but I need to check on the campers first. Can you help me?" She asked and he nodded as they went to work, giving nectar and ambrosia to the wounded and helping other campers to the infirmary or Apollo's cabin, which was basically the same thing. Once that was done, they met with Percy, Annabeth and Tyson where Clarisse explained that both Chiron and Argus, head of security had been fired and Tantalus was the new activities director.

"Isn't that the guy who killed his son, cooked him and fed him to the gods to the point where even Zeus thought he went too far? Yeah, he'll be a great addition to a camp filled with children." Harry snarked as he managed to get some of his arrows back and put them in his quiver to check them over later as Percy demanded to know what happened and Clarisse pointed to Thalia's tree, which now looked sick with yellow pine needles, dozens of needles lying on the ground and a small hole oozing green sap. It had been poisoned and now, camp was vulnerable.

Going to his half-siblings at the Apollo cabin, Harry immediately sensed the difference as the usually cheerful demigods that he now shared a cabin with were running back-and-forth with deadly serious faces and the cabin counsellor Lee immediately ordered him to come and help with the injured. Looking around, Harry soon noticed some missing faces. "Where are James, Lyra and Thomas?" He asked and Lee's mouth tightened.

"They joined Luke." Was all he said and Harry stiffened up. For some reason, he'd thought Luke had kept himself to the demigods in the Hermes cabin, those unclaimed or children of a minor god who didn't have a cabin. He hadn't thought his siblings would agree to join as well. Lowering his head, he just went to help as much as he could, knowing that they had to do something fast before it was too late and they would have to bury people.

'Note to self: contact mum as soon as possible before she kills me herself.' He thought

Chapter 2: In which there is a small announcement

Chapter Text

Hey everyone

I just needed to say two things

1: I'm currently coming down with a stomach flu, so I probably won't update this for a couple of days while I get better

2: I got Harry's age wrong. I said he was turning nine at the end of the previous story, but I reread the whole story yesterday and I realised he was supposed to be turning EIGHT. I don't know where I convinced myself that he was turning nine, but just imagine him being eight during this story instead of nine

See you all when I get better.

Camp was nothing like last year

When Harry and Percy arrived at camp last year, there was a playful air around as demigods sparred and trained. None of that was happening now as everyone was rushing to-and-fro to places and Harry could just barely say goodbye Chiron as he was leaving camp after talking to Percy and Annabeth, quickly climbing onto a tree stump to give the centaur a hug as much as he could despite his tiny frame and Chiron patted his back with a tiny smile on his face.

"Be very careful, Harry. The enemy knows how important you are to Percy and they will not hesitate to use that." The centaur warned him and Harry nodded, before he had to let go and watched Chiron disappear into the forest. He then lowered his head as he jumped off the stump and went back to the main part of camp as the sun began to set. He soon joined Percy, Tyson and Annabeth and his brother immediately noticed something was wrong.

The older boy tilted his head as he silently asked Harry what was going on, not pushing him into telling what was wrong, but showing him he was willing to listen. "Three of the Apollo cabin joined Luke after last year." He muttered and Percy and Annabeth stiffened up with winces, the latter immediately apologising. She knew that even though Harry had joined the cabin rather late, last year, every single one of the children in said cabin was his family, his blood and now, three siblings had joined the enemy. Gods, she could only imagine how pissed off Apollo was at said children.

"Harry, sad?" Tyson asked as he tilted his head and Harry gave him a tiny smile as he quickly assured him he was okay before he got a cyclops hug and that was the last thing he wanted after he'd seen what Tyson had done to the remaining bull as it was soon time for dinner and Harry quietly joined his cabin at the Apollo table, Will immediately sitting down next to him as many stared at Tyson there as well, one of his siblings rudely asking who invited "that."

Harry glared into the direction of the person who said it as even though you didn't know Tyson that well yet, he had helped with the bulls and from what Percy had told him, he was a literal gentle giant. He then looked over as Mr. D called Percy... by the wrong name as always and Harry rolled his eyes. Mr. D had become just the slightest bit nicer to him once he made it clear that he didn't like or respect Theseus as in he didn't make comments about him anymore.

Percy did not have that luxury, so Mr. D loved to dunk on him by constantly calling him the wrong name and other ways. Harry had not liked it at all, but Percy had told him not to try his luck as despite his century long banishment and constant grumpiness because of that, Mr. D was still Dionysus: the Greek god of wine and madness and Percy did not want Harry to get into trouble because of him, so Harry reluctantly kept back as the banished god talked about his brother to another guy who had to be Tantalus. Yeah, Harry was not going to like him. He could already tell.

So, if he snickered in his food every time food moved away from the guy, who could blame him? Percy was eventually sent to the Poseidon table without Tyson and Harry and his half-siblings burned part of their food in the fire. "Hey, Lord Apollo? Can you tell mum I'm okay? She must be worried sick right now." He prayed, having no idea if his father heard him. While most campers called their divine parents "Mom" or "dad," he felt...uncomfortable saying it.

He had only met the guy twice before, once not even knowing who he was and most of the demigods apparently only saw their divine parent once a year or so. Chiron had given him a list of other Apollo kids out there in the world last year who had managed to reach adulthood, many of them being famous singers and he had asked the centaur if any of them had seen their father outside of the solstice and Chiron's silence had said more than enough.

So yeah, he didn't really feel right calling Apollo his dad even after he had saved his life. He was aware the God was the reason he existed as thanks to him staying in a camp filled with teenagers, he already knew a bit about the birds and the bees than he was probably supposed to at his age, but he had never been around when he got sick or bullied or just needed someone at his side back when he still lived with the Dursleys. Someone who'd hug and comfort him when he was scared or needed to cry like Sally and now Lily do the moment they sensed something was going on.

But he hadn't been there and Harry was going to give him his respect at least because he didn't want to get killed, but that was it. Once he had burned his food, he sat back down at his table with Will. "Saw our dad last winter solstice when we showed our abilities and how much we've grown in them. He asked after you and if you and your mum had talked about something yet, but he didn't say what." His half-brother said and Harry made a face.

Of course, he was only interested in the prophecy. He was literally the god of that. "We did. I'm surprised he doesn't know already considering we see his car every day." He muttered and Will rubbed his back at hearing his tone, knowing Harry was still a bit pissed that Apollo had saved him from the hellhound years ago, but hadn't said who he truly was even though he had an almost literal day to explain while Harry was in the sun with him.

Harry still had no idea how Lord Apollo had managed to park the sun in the street in the middle of the day even with the mist keeping normal humans from noticing to save him from the hellhound, but he supposed he now understood why he was so incredibly confused with the dates when he first arrived at the cabin. What had felt like a few hours of driving had actually been almost a full day and thanks to the Dursleys not feeding him a lot, his body had been too small to look out of the window and see they were actually flying in the sky faster than the fastest plane.

He was lucky Lord Apollo had at the very least given him an apple to eat. Dinner was quiet for the rest of it, everyone still subdued because of the attack and the state of Thalia's tree. Even the usually cheerful Will didn't say much after telling Harry about the visit to Olympus. By the time dinner was over, Tantalus gave a very awkward speech where he said he'd love to tortu- erhm spend time with the demigods and how they looked good enough to eat.

He then surprised all of camp by saying he was bringing back the chariot races after they had been discontinued by Chiron years ago after three deaths and twenty-six mutilation according to an Apollo demigod, much to Harry's horror and it said a lot when Clarisse tried to protest, but the bastard didn't listen as he promised the winners wouldn't have to do chores for a full month and while excited whispers went around, Harry looked at his half-siblings.

"We need to prepare." He muttered and they all quickly nodded in agreement, not sure if they should be excited of the prospect of winning or terrified at all the injuries they very likely would have to treat. Harry looked at a couple of his half-siblings in particular: Maria, who actually got a bit squeamish at the sight of blood, Leonardo who was terrible at making stitches and was looking terrified at the idea of having to deal with a demigod who had been mutilated and Lauren who could make the most beautiful songs, but give her bandages and she wouldn't know what to do.

Lee followed his gaze and saw their pale faces, giving Harry a small nod to promise he'd take care of it and Harry nodded back, although he was still worried about them. He knew his siblings sometimes felt ashamed of not being good at healing despite being the children of Apollo, but once he had the time, he would go and remind them that they were still their own person and that Will was a prodigy at healing, but not as good in archery.

Tantalus then quickly rose even higher on Harry's shit list when he then focused everyone's attention to Tyson and kept insulting him. "Now, of course cyclopes have a reputation for being bloodthirsty monsters with very little brain capacity. Under normal circumstances, I would release this beast into the woods and have you hunt it down." He bragged an Harry clenched his hands into fists, getting so angry that said fists were quickly shaking.

"Harry?" Will asked in slight worry at seeing his trembling fists as he knew that Harry was both a demigod and a wizard and that his demigod side could power his magical one if he wasn't careful. The children of Hecate had been helping him with that last summer, but not if he got so angry like he did now. Harry let out a short growl and those around the Apollo table quickly felt a small burst of power coming from him, immediately sharing looks as Tantalus went to continue.... only to suddenly start talking in a chipmunk voice while even Mr. D stared at him in surprise.

There were some suppressed laughs when Tantalus tried to demand who was responsible for this, but no one could understand him, but most demigods were laughing silently. Harry saw Clarisse giving him a knowing look and hidden smirk, still angry at Tantalus for dismissing her concerns about the barrier and Thalia's tree, before quickly smoothing her face as Mr. D took over and said Tyson needed a place to sleep as he would be allowed to stay.

He first asked the Hermes cabin, but the new counsellors refused to even look up and everyone knew that was not going to work. The cabin was stuffed full as it was. A cyclops of two metres definitely was not going to fit. Fortunately for the Hermes cabin and unfortunately for Percy, the matter was soon solved as a familiar sight appeared above Tyson: Poseidon's trident. Most of the camp immediately began to laugh at this, but Harry just sighed.

Seemed like Percy got a new brother too

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that you recognise

The next few days are... bad, but not as bad as they could have been.

A lot of the demigods immediately made fun of Percy for having a cyclops half-brother and he only would have had Annabeth for support if not for Harry's presence, even as he tried to protest Tyson was not his brother. After that dinner when Tyson got claimed, Percy had taken an example of his little brother and had immediately assured Harry that just because Tyson was there, didn't mean Harry was his brother anymore and the eight year old relaxed at that.

It did help slightly that Percy was rather embarrassed by his new brother as most demigods avoided him now if not for Harry sticking around Tyson as well without any fear, because wherever he was, Will, Esmeralda and occasionally Clarisse would be nearby as well. Even if all of the Ares cabin was still incredibly pissed at Percy for beating their dad last year, he and Clarisse had a rather odd truce when it came to the eight year old son of Apollo.

As camp slowly got ready for the races, the Apollo cabin got ready to treat the injured that would almost certainly happen and as promised, Lee made sure Maria, Leonardo and Lauren would still be involved without invoking their weaknesses. "Maria, you're on supply duty. Make sure we have enough for whatever comes next. Leonardo and Lauren, you're on cleanup." He ordered and the three demigods straightened up and nodded, relief filing their eyes at still being useful without the chance of screwing things up. Harry gulped as he trusted Chiron to have a good reason to quit these races and now, Tantalus brought them back.

To distract himself from the situation, he went to learn Pegasus riding together with Percy, Esmeralda's older half-sister and the counselor for the Aphrodite cabin, Silena Beauregard teaching them. Harry thought they did pretty good for the first time, helped by the fact that Percy could telepathically talk to them as his father was the God of horses. The only problem was that Tyson wanted to see the pegasi too and they didn't like that.

Percy gently nudged Harry to go on while he calmed the pegasi, not wanting his little brother to be accidentally thrown off or kicked. Harry quickly leaves and goes to spend time with Esmeralda, the two of them having grown rather close as well ever since Lily grew a soft spot for her last year. The two of them began to spar together with Will eventually coming over to watch as Harry actually got pinned down by the girl.

"You are never living that down, you know that right?" The blond boy laughed at seeing this as Esmeralda quickly got off Harry and he helped his half-brother up, Harry grumbling he let her win. "Uh-huh. Sure, whatever you say." Will teased him, before saying Lee needed all the Apollo kids for a meeting about the chariot race the next day. Saying goodbye to Esmeralda, Harry followed the other boy as most demigods gravitated to their cabins for similar meetings and Harry honestly felt sorry for Percy, having seen that he and Annabeth had some kind of fight and he now only had Tyson to have a meeting with.

Soon enough, the entire Apollo cabin was gathered together and sat on their respective bunk beds, Harry sleeping on the lower one with Will sleeping above him. Lee told everyone what they could expect of the race and picked out two to do it, Harry was briefly considered because of his magic, but Lee quickly decided he didn't want to get killed by a team-up between Percy and Clarisse, so he picked two others and told everyone to get an early night.

The next morning, Percy suddenly pulled Harry apart right before the race and told him he had seen Grover in his dreams and had even talked to him. The satyr had actually been captured by Polyphemus, a far more dangerous cyclops than Tyson ever could be and the one who was tricked by Odysseys long ago. The cyclops had something with him that attracted satyr to him, thinking they had found Pan, only to be captured and eaten by the monster.

Since the cyclops was half-blind, Grover had convinced him he was a female cyclops wearing goat perfume and now, Polyphemus wanted to marry him, so Percy had seen him in a wedding dress and said they only had twelve days to find him before it was too late. Normally, Harry would have focused and laughed about the "Grover in a wedding dress" bit, but his mind stayed on the "Grover was in danger" bit. Percy then had to get ready and told him to be careful and Harry nodded, before hearing a strange sound and looking up to see a lot of pigeons in a nearby tree, but they didn't seem like normal birds They seemed.... dangerous

He quickly ran back to the Apollo cabin, grabbed his bow and the quiver filled with arrows Apollo had gifted him last year and hurried back to the stands, but he didn't sit with his half-siblings, but rather Anna, the unofficial leader of the children of Hecate and her siblings who were all looking at the pigeons as well. "I'm not the only one who doesn't like the look of those birds right?" Harry asked and Anna shook her head as sparks danced between her fingertips.

"I would not be very surprised if your magic is currently ringing the alarm inside of you. We all sense it too. Get ready for literally anything." She muttered and Harry nodded as Esmeralda went to sit next to him, curious about the race. Tantalus announced the start of the race, his voice unfortunately back to normal again, but Harry and the children of Hecate were focused on the pigeons as more and more appeared with the second.

"Esmeralda, dive to the ground when I tell you to." Harry muttered from the corner of his mouth and Esmeralda gave him a funny look, but agreed as the race started and Harry winced as the Apollo chariot was beaten by the Hermes one within the first few metres, the Hermes chariot getting destroyed by the panicked palomino horses that had been pulling the Apollo chariot. Unfortunately, that's when the birds flew up and headed straight towards them. "Duck!" Harry called and Esmeralda dove to the ground as Anna and the other children of Hecate tried to conjure up a shield, but it only helped temporarily as there were too many.

In all the chaos that the birds created, it was pretty much impossible for Harry and the other children of Apollo to get a good shot at them without the risk of accidentally hurting a camper instead as Harry stood over a scared and curled up Esmeralda and tried to use his magic to blast them away instead, but it was still rather uncontrolled and only helped a little bit until loud music blasted over the grounds, courtesy of Annabeth and Percy.

The birds panicked and flew up and the Apollo cabin wasted no time in shooting them down until the last bird was dead. Harry immediately collapsed on the stands, cuts all over his body from the beaks and talons, but Esmeralda was mostly unharmed as Harry had taken most of the hits directed at her. Will immediately rushed over to help as Tantalus congratulated Clarisse on winning the race and punished Percy, Tyson and Annabeth.

According to the despicable man, the birds had been very peaceful until Annabeth, Percy and Tyson made them angry with their terrible racing and that's why they attacked. Oh, if he didn't know how pissed they would be, Harry would have used the bracelet Hades gave him last year to ask Alecto or one of her sisters to come and get the bastard. The trio were put on kitchen duty for a week while Clarisse was celebrated and it said a lot when even she was utterly stunned at the mental leaps Tantalus had made to come to that conclusion and was not as smug and prideful as she usually was.

After healing the hurt demigods as much as they could, some of Harry's half-siblings sang a few songs to try and cheer everyone up, bit it didn't really work after everything. Harry did notice how even Mr. D gave Tantalus a disgusted look before he left. At least, even Dionysus hated the guy too. At the end of dinner, Annabeth and Percy loudly announced they knew a way they could save camp and everyone immediately listened

Percy also explained about his dreams, about Grover and how Polyphemus had the golden fleece, which was exactly what they needed to save camp. "We need a quest!" Percy stated and Harry immediately led his siblings in chanting "we need a quest! We need a quest!" Soon, the whole camp was chanting it until Tantalus was forced to concede and said he'd choose a champion to take on the quest and Harry watched as said champion was chosen.

Clarisse.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that you recognise

The next morning, Harry got up early.

He was wondering what the Oracle had told Clarisse and how Percy was feeling after Tantalus had been an even bigger prick to him to the point where even Clarisse had felt a bit uncomfortable about it when he sent her to consult the Oracle. Going to the Poseidon cabin after getting dressed for the day, he knocked on the door and waited, only for no one to answer. Slowly opening the door, he looked inside to see it was completely empty.

Hoping Poseidon wouldn't mind if he looked inside even without Percy there, he walked further inside and frowned even more at still seeing Percy's things lying next to his bed and Tyson's scraps of metal. It was like they just vanished into thin air. Suddenly getting a bad feeling, he rushed out and towards the Athena cabin. "Ah, Harry. Have you seen Annabeth? She was gone this morning." One of the other Athena kids said at seeing him.

Harry immediately facepalmed as he realised what had likely happened. Percy had found a way to go to the sea of monsters anyway and Annabeth and Tyson had gone with him. He wondered why he hadn't heard anything last night, but then again, the Apollo cabin had enchantments around it to keep sounds out for both when he or his half-siblings wanted to practice their music or if they had a heavily injured demigod sleeping with them who needed rest. How exactly Percy had managed it, he didn't know, but with the harpies flying around, he probably had to hurry and get out of camp.

"Harry!" They heard Will shout as he ran over and Harry immediately whirled around as he wondered what was going on now as this whole situation was frustrating. "Harry, Clarisse is looking for you. I think she wants you to join her on her quest." Will said as he reached his brother and Harry stiffened up, before quickly going to find the girl, finding her at the edge of the sea, her eyes closed as she prayed in Greek and Harry could guess she was praying to her dad.

"Clarisse? Will said you needed me?" He asked and she nodded as she said that she wanted him to join her on the quest and he gave her a frown. "Why? There are several demigods who would be a much better candidate than an eight year old who has only learned he's a demigod a year ago. Sure, I've picked up archery again now that my mum has a job working as a secretary at MACUSA, but still." He protested and it was completely true.

Now that he knew why he had shot that teacher years ago and knew who his father was, he had picked up archery once more once Lily had a steady income from her new job. It was nothing glamorous, but it paid the bills and her new boss, Andrea Pace was a very nice lady to work for as she didn't blink twice when Lily told her she had been in a really bad place for years and needed a job to support herself and her son. Lily would have to look for a solution once it was time to for Harry to be at Hogwarts, but that was not for another two years and for now, they had enough money.

"I need those demigods to stay here and protect camp as much as possible. I need your help for this one, Harry, because I'm not going to let that brother of yours be the hero." Clarisse stated, only to see the sheepish face Harry pulled at hearing this and pinching the bridge of her nose as she immediately realised what had happened. "He and Chase are already gone, aren't they?" She muttered in frustration and Harry said he was pretty sure they did with Tyson.

"To be fair, Percy is more concerned about saving Grover from the cyclops. This can still be your quest and I know he'll let you have the honor of returning with the fleece.... especially if I'm with you." He said and Clarisse sighed, before patting his shoulder and telling him to get ready. He quickly ran back to camp and got several supplies: his bow and arrows, plus two extra sets of arrows his siblings gave him, his pen-sword food, water, drachmae just in case.

He gave Will a hug as everyone wished him luck, before he joined Clarisse who was now looking at a ship with a literal ghost and skeleton crew and he room. "The spirits on the losing side of the war owe a tribute to my father for losing. They'll do anything I tell them to do." She explained at seeing him stepping back and he hummed, still not trusting it. "Hey, where's the boy who literally let himself be taken to the Underworld?" She asked and he glared at her as he asked if she was ever going to let that go. "Never." She replied, before nudging him to get on board so they'd be ready to leave.

Soon, they were sailing away and Harry immediately smiled at seeing most of both the Ares and Apollo cabins, plus several other friends he had made like Esmeralda, Anna and the other Hecate children waving them off. "Now that I've mentioned it before. How was your first year as a demigod?" Clarisse asked as they went below deck and he knew this was her gruff way to be curious about his life and he sighed as he thought back on the past year.

"Surprisingly peaceful, even if I now know it was thanks to Tyson's presence. My mum and I are now as close as mater, Percy and I. I do feel way more comfortable in my skin now I know exactly what is going on with me and I don't have to put up with Smelly Gabe anymore. In fact, mater used him to earn money so she can go back to school." He replied as he sat down in the tiny captain's quarters and Clarisse smiled at this as Harry did sound happy.

She quickly figured out that "mum" was Lily and "mater" was Sally and silently commended him on figuring out a way to distinguish them without making one sound lesser than the other. She did ask how Gabe had exactly helped as she had heard enough last year to know he was a bastard. "Mater sold a very lifelike statue of him last year. On a totally unrelated note, Poseidon sent us back Medusa's head just before." Harry explained with a dark smirk and even Clarisse had to snicker as she could easily imagine it. She knew her mother would have done the same to keep her safe.

She did have one more question. "And what about your relationship with your father?" She asked and he sighed as he leaned back and looked up at the ceiling. That was the million dollar question, wasn't it? He should have known she would ask him about it as being claimed was arguably the biggest thing in a demigod's life while at camp apart from the rare quests if you got picked for it. Of course she would ask him about how he felt about Apollo.

"I'm not sure what to think of him. I'm grateful he saved my life. Don't get me wrong, but he had me in his car, the bloody sun for hours and not once did he so much as suggest that he was my dad. I know he gave his reasons, but a part of me that had to grow up watching my uncle spoil my cousin and then beat me for getting the bacon wrong just really wants a dad who is actually around." He muttered and Clarisse hummed, before her mind caught up.

"I'm sorry, did you just say that your uncle beat you?" She asked, before grabbing her spear. "Where is he now?" She asked in a dangerous tone and he gave her a grin as he said his uncle was in England, sarcastically wishing her luck not to get overrun with monsters as the only demigod there of she went to Europe. She narrowed her eyes and slowly lowered the spear again. "Okay, you've got a point there." She muttered and he smiled, before going outside to try and contact his mum through Iris message. Thankfully the spray of the boat moving created enough of a rainbow to work.

Soon, enough he saw his mother's face for the first time in days. "Oh, my baby. I've never been so happy to see you. Are you okay? Is Percy with you?  And... are you... on a ship?" She asked and he nodded as he explained the situation: about camp and Grover being in danger, about Percy,  Annabeth and Tyson suddenly disappearing, explaining that Tyson was a cyclops and what happened that day at school and how Clarisse had taken him on a quest.

She frowned and asked why she had taken him on a quest of all people and he looked around to see if anyone was listening. "My guess? Her dad. Percy kicked his butt last year and he knows the ocean is literally Percy's home turf so to speak, so he's not a stupid to challenge him on open water, but quests are dangerous. Percy almost died several times last year and Luke.... got a scar and turned cynical." He muttered and Lily looked down as she took this in.

"If you get hurt on this quest, he will see that as revenge for Percy beating him." She realised as she looked up at her son, wanting nothing more than to reach out to him through the connection and pull him into his arms or go chase a certain God of war. She then took a deep breath and looked at Harry. "You stay close to Clarisse, you hear me? I've seen enough of your friendship to know she'll keep you safe." She said and he nodded, making her smile. "I love you so much, my sweet boy. Don't ever forget that. I better see you at the end of summer." She said and he smiled back.

"Love you too, mum." He said, before the connection broke and she took a deep breath, before walking out as she had an appointment. Harry had called just in time as she would have been gone if he had done so minutes later. Going to the magical district, she walked straight to the bank and said that she had an appointment with the goblin who had given her and Harry their money and she was immediately let to an office, knowing who she'd find there.

She had decided to take a bit more initiative to protect her son once he was at Hogwarts, but for that to work, she needed information on the current state of business in Wizarding England and she had invited the one person who could help her and hopefully not say anything to Dumbledore while he was at it. Walking in, she smirked at seeing the back of someone in front of her, knowing she was about to give him a heart attack as she said two words.

"Hello, Lupin."
