Chapter One
1183 AD
His fire had gone out. The sun had yet to rise, his room was cold and dark, looking around he tried to see in the blackness. His door was seemingly unopened but some similar noise had woken him.
Though there was barely a breeze, nothing seemed to move. He sat and waited, for a sound, or a flash of light. However, when nothing came he stood up from his bed, despite the cold, wanting to relit his extinguished fire. When he reached the fireplace, he blindly felt for the striker, and began to create a spark.
He watched as the flame caught, and squinted at its brightness, as sparks turned to flame.
Something in the corner of the room caught the light, and the dark-haired man glanced quickly in that direction.
Nobody was there. He took a breath, trying to calm his fast-beating heart.
And then came the pain.
He gasped as something ripped through his neck. He tried to move, but whatever had grabbed him was not letting go, turning to see his attacker, he saw briefly, pale skin and dark eyes. His eyes could stay open no longer, and for the last time, he slipped into unconsciousness.
That night, Kiyoomi Daigo died.
Something else was reborn.
