Work Text:
It was quiet in the small cabin on the Enterprise. The only sounds were those that were ambient to the ship and breathing. Both Leonard's own, and Spock's. They were on their way back to Earth after their encounter with V'ger.
And somehow Leonard and Spock had ended up alone in his cabin.
Spock was meditating, or at least pretending to. Leonard knew him well enough to know the difference between real and pretending. Even after all the years that they had been apart. There was a slight shift to his face that said he hadn't fallen into a full meditation.
"I still love you," he said, no preamble. "Never stopped."
Spock's eyes flew open at his words. Yet he stayed silent, almost as if he didn't have words to respond.
"I know you are still claiming to have banished all your emotions and don't feel the same way. But I need you to know that."
He also needed a drink after admitting that to Spock. He hadn't told anyone he still harbored those feelings of love for the man that had left him. But he did.
"There was a reason I couldn't complete Kolinahr."
Leonard smiled. Spock was staying.
