Work Text:

Natasha rested her head on Bruce's chest. He was still asleep in his bed that she was sharing for the night and felt a pang of guilt. She shouldn't have been there. Should have moved on when there was no longer a need to spy on him. But she hadn't.

Something about the other man had drawn her in, even as she had been investigating his connection to a crime ring. Which had turned out to everyone's surprise to be Bruce being Batman, not a member of the ring itself.

That was something that had drawn her in even further. He knew what it meant to have different faces for different people, understood that about her when both their identities were laid out on the table between them. Hadn't cared that she had been there to spy on him. He had but had gotten past it when she explained why.

Logically Natasha knew there was no reason for her to feel guilt. There weren't secrets of that sort between them anymore. Yet part of her still felt the guilt.

The guilt of falling in love with a man she shouldn't have. Yet she couldn't help but be completely happy there.
