    Sam scrunched his eyes shut again when he woke, the unfamiliar lighting harsh on his eyes. His side ached, and as he tried to move, he heard chains rattle, his hands pinned together.

    "Ah, there he is." The voice that greeted him was warm like honey, slim fingers soft as they gripped his chin, lifting his head. Sam blinked, seeing her slowly come into focus; her hair glowed in the candlelight, fiery wildness, and her features were soft. He could have almost thought that she was smiling at him.

    "Do you know who I am, Samuel?" He nodded slowly, wetting his lips. Her fingers released him as she stood, a smile clear on her face. He watched pink sparks flick from her fingers as she waved them, the candles in the room brightening.
