After the fight with Flame, Wemmbu was captured by LettuceK and taken prisoner.
At first, Egg wasn’t worried. The Enderdragon-hybrid had gotten himself into trouble plenty of times before and always found a way out.
But as days passed, Egg began overhearing whispers and gossip about Wemmbu and the Law.
What he heard made his blood boil. They had chained his best friend in a cell beneath the Law’s base, open for anyone to visit and take out their frustration.
That was enough. Egg made up his mind. He would free Wemmbu. He didn’t care about distance or danger.
Without hesitation, he left the End and ended up in the Farlands. He flew straight from the Farlands with his six angelic wings touring through the void and overworld skies alike he reached their base within a few days.
The Law never expected anyone to come for Wemmbu. Most players believed he was dead or simply didn’t like him and his best friend, Eggchan, was stuck in the End.
So, when Egg appeared at the gates of their base, the guards were more amused than alarmed. Egg was never the fighter of the duo, after all.
„What brings you here?“ one of them asked, smirking. „I’m here for Wemmbu,“ Egg replied, voice calm but laced with steel, „hand him over.“
They burst out laughing. Egg said quietly, pulling out two diamond hoes from his inventory. The guards laughed even harder.
„Two hoes?“ one jeered.
,,Oh no what is he going to do to us? Grow us a farm?” the other mocked.
„Alright… you asked for it,“ Egg said, expression blank, before he started to sing, „I got two hoes. One for the ladies and one for the foes.“ Before the last word had fully sunk in, he struck. The guards barely had time to draw their shield and sword before Egg’s attack hit with unexpected force.
„What the hell!“ one of the guards shouted as his totem popped.
Panic set in, and they called for backup, too late. The angel cut one of them down in seconds, then turned on the other. Neither stood a chance.
Egg stepped over their bodies and entered the base. Alarms rang, more Lawmen rushing toward him, but he didn’t slow down. Anyone who tried to stop him met the same fate. He moved through the buildings like a storm of feathers and blood, cutting down everyone in his path as he pushed toward the main building.
LettuceK was with Wemmbu when Egg reached the basement, speaking to him like a disappointed mother scolding her child. ,,You did this to yourself. With all the damage you made. All the lives you took.”
Egg didn’t need to listen to more. He heard enough.
The air reeked of blood and rust. Chains clinked softly. Wemmbu hung from the ceiling like a punching bag, chains biting deep into raw skin. His head sagged forward, both his eyes closed shut. Only his ragged breathing suggested that he was still somewhat awake and alive.
His clothes were little more than rags now, torn and clinging to him with streaks of dirt and dried blood. Beneath them, his skin was covered in purple bruises layered over old and fresh scars.
His wings were bound cruelly behind his back, dark scales torn and matted, the restraints digging into the joints until the bones themselves seemed ready to snap. One horn was cracked near the base, a jagged crack running through it.
Egg froze for a heartbeat. Then he stepped forward, revealing himself.
„Eggchan?“ LettuceK looked startled at first, then quickly masked it with a smirk, „Nice to finally meet you.“
Egg didn’t answer. He crossed the room, seized the fox-hybrid by the throat and slammed him into the wall.
„Eggchan, no need for such violence,“ LettuceK wheezed, still trying to sound in control. „We can talk. I know you’re a good man… even if you keep company with that demon.“
„Don’t call him that,“ Egg said, voice low and cold. He pressed harder. The wall behind LettuceK cracked under the force. The fox-hybrid clawed at Egg’s arm, gasping for air, but the angel didn’t budge.
The angel’s single eye burned a fierce ocean blue. His wings flared wide, feathers trembling with rage.
„You think you can chain him up and walk away?“ Egg’s voice shook, with barley restrained anger, „You really think you can take my best friend and I’d just look away?“
Behind him, Wemmbu stirred, a hoarse, broken sound scraping from his throat, something that might’ve been the angel’s name.
Egg turned. The sight hit him like a blade to the chest.
Wemmbu’s eyes were open now, but dull, unfocused, glassy with pain and exhaustion. The faint noise looked like it cost him everything.
LettuceK was forgotten. Egg dropped him like trash and crossed the room in a heartbeat. The chains groaned as he ripped them apart. One by one, the shackles screamed and snapped until the last of them gave way.
Wemmbu collapsed forward. Egg caught him before he could hit the ground, the dragon’s weight folding against him.
,,Hey…” Egg whispered, voice soothing. His hands trembled as he brushed blood from Wemmbu’s cheek, thumb tracing over split scales, ,,It’s me. You’re safe now.”
Wemmbu tried to answer, but only a rasp escaped, a sigh of relieve, a sound of recognition. His tail twitched weakly, and he leaned into Egg’s touch, desperate for gentleness and warmth from his best friend, after so much pain.
Behind them, a wet cough cut through the silence. LettuceK spat onto the floor, a faint smirk twisting his lips.
,,You can’t save him,” he hissed, voice fraying at the edges. ,,He’s already…” A diamond hoe embedding itself in the wall inches from LettuceK’s face, shut him up. The fox hybrid stared at Egg, who just glared at him before turning his attention back to Wemmbu.
Without another word, Egg stooped to lift Wemmbu, cradling him carefully. As he passed LettuceK, he yanked the hoe free.
„Stay away from us,“ he growled, voice like thunder.
Outside the base he spread his wings and flew toward the End portal. Wemmbu rested in his arms and for the first time in days, he was safe.
