    Sam had seen her three times since her resurrection. Her scars were healing slowly, much to Rowena's frustration, and the only time she seemed to relax was when she was curled in his arms after they'd had sex. In these moments, her breathing felt calmer, and the anxious thrum that ran through her body eased as she lay against him.

    Her fingers stroked slowly over his chest. Rowena had settled her head over his heart, smiling at the steady beat of it below her. It soothed her; her breathing settled in time to it, and she felt safer. Rowena could almost allow herself to believe that Sam would be able to protect her.
