So I went on ao3 as one does, when they’re sad, to find fix it fanfiction only to find no one has written anything so I am.

Work Text:

Shelby was rather concerned.

She looked at avid blotchy face, that was redder than she thought the dead could get.
Shelby turned her head, and she saw something. Shelby saw the look between Owen and Pyro, how they looked at avid.

A sense Shelby didn’t know she had, something pushed her she had to follow avid, she had to get away from them.

Before Scott could even say to follow him

Shelby grabbed Avid hand
“Come here drift we’re gonna go hunting with avid” she said, with the most sunshine she could muster.

Drift confusedly ran after Shelby.

Shelby ran holding on to avid the entire way through. Running to her, finally, she stopped at a not burned part of the forest. She could almost hear her heartbeat from the amount of running she did, but she knew it wasn’t there.

Avid looked at her confused.
“here” Shelby through some meat and blood bottles at avid.
Drift to barely caught up to them was looking at her confused as well
“why did I have to come with you too?” She was a lot more athletic than Shelby and so wasn’t as worn out through running

“We need to go, we can't be there. I can’t be in town and can’t be at the castle.”
Shelby said she had a hint of distrust
“I don’t trust them” Shelby finally admitted

“ why?” drift asked with both hints of confusion and freight in her tone.
avid who had barely calm down, held a bit of fear in his Ruby blood eyes.
“I don’t know what they were to do. But they were planning something”
.
.
Shelby scouted the area with more than a little bit of paranoia her white hair whipped through the wind. Avid might have been able to get to level two with the amount of blood, she was giving him , Shelby with more than a little anxious

Shelby was alone for the moment, drift had actually went hunting with Avid.

So she was alone really truly completely alone. Shelby hasn’t felt this alone in ages

She remembers their tons, remembers the Liberian, giving her a weird look. Every time she checked out a book on a werewolf.
Shelby remembers how her mother didn’t really care about her didn’t check up on her. Maybe there is still a tiny part of her when it was human and I didn’t want to be alone, didn’t want to be unlove

Shelby snapped up at attention she heard a twig break
A young looking girl around Avid’s age
She was a blonde with ripped clothes, and though she looked otherworldly, she wasn’t a vampire. Shelby could tell.

“Hello, you met a boy name avid” The blonde haired girl said in a slightly shaky voice

Shelby’s eyes widen a little bit in surprise. “how do you know him?” She said, in a upset voice she was not trusting this new person

Finally, Shelby looked up and really paid attention to her

She was a blonde with tattered clothes. She looked like she had her hair in a bun. Poking out her head or two things she didn’t really know how to describe.

Two large horns with purple details on them stuck perfectly outside at the top of her head. “what’s your name?” Shelby said a little bit more cautiously.
“my name is ella” shelby knew that name. Though it was lost in her memory for a while, with the crazy moment, she didn’t think she could forget it.

“ your avid’s friend, aren’t you?” The girl quickly nodded her head-Wait, no I should probably be calling her by her name now shelby thought

When avid returned it was quite the show. Tears and snot ran down his face.

“i’m so sorry ella” avid yelled.

“no, it’s fine” ella said quietly
They were hugging.

But shelby knew this wasn’t going to be the end, she knew this was just the beginning, because whatever she felt with pyro and owen.
Wasn’t going to end, and she knew that it was going to be a war to get out of this town.
