He should have said no when Eddie suggested they should drink together to celebrate the end of Steve’s first term of community college. When he opened the door and found his friend there, all smiles, proudly showing him a bunch of bags filled to the brim with tequila, beer and a wide variety of snacks, Steve should have slammed the door shut and told Eddie to go home, but he didn’t.
Instead, he had sighed to show an exasperation he didn’t even feel, and stepped back to let Eddie in.
