Work Text:
It was nighttime at the Hazbin Hotel. Husk had finished giving a now regressed Angel a warm bath and dressing him in his favorite pajamas - a pink pajama set with a blobfish pattern. The cat was now busy in the kitchen, making him a bedtime bottle; it was his first time doing this. Angel stated when he was big that he's never had bottles whenever he regressed before. He was told by Valentino that he was too big for them and was scared that Cherri would think the same thing. Cherri was, however, supportive of Angel, and respected his wishes when he said he wasn't ready for bottles yet. Tonight, before Angel regressed, he gathered up the courage and told Husk that he wanted to try a bottle for the first time. The feline DoorDashed some from the closest store. He even looked up milk recipes to help Angel have a good night's rest. Husk added some sugar-free honey, vanilla, and a dash of chamomile to the milk he was currently making to help the baby fall asleep.
Once Husk placed the bottle in the bottle warmer, he looked over at the lounge and smiled warmly at Angel babbling away behind his pacifier and playing with Fat Nuggets in his playpen.
"You having fun?" Husk asked as he approached the pen. "You getting in some last minute playtime before night-night time?"
Angel looked up and happily nodded.
"Well, that's good."
Husk gently ruffled Angel's hair and kissed the top of his head. The arachnid scooted to snuggle up to his papa, cooing softly. Husk returned the hug.
"What are you and Fat Nuggets up to?" Husk asked. Angel babbled and pointed at his musical ocean toy. "Yeah, that does look like fun. Can you count how many fish there are?"
Angel just patted the toy screen while giggling. Husk cut him some slack; his headspace was way too young for him to know how to count. It wasn't long before Angel started yawning and rubbing his eyes.
"Alrighty, I think someone's ready for bed," Husk said as he gently lifted Angel from the playpen. Angel whined at being picked up. Husk shushed him softly and rubbed his back, bouncing and swaying from side to side. It successfully calmed the arachnid down. The feline then lifted Fat Nuggets from the pen with his tail and set him back down on the ground.
"You're just the sleepiest baby tonight, aren't you?" Husk cooed as he returned to the kitchen to retrieve the bottle.
Angel rubbed at his eyes, pacifier falling out. Husk caught it and popped it back in his mouth. Angel burbled tiredly. He was just so sleepy now, barely able to keep his eyes open.
"Look what I made for you," Husk crooned as he pulled the bottle out from the warmer. He then shook it in front of Angel.
Angel’s eyes went wide and he reached for the bottle. However, he hesitated.
"What's wrong?" Husk asked.
Angel babbled, his way of saying that he's too old to be drinking out of a bottle.
Husk's heart saddened a little. Fucking Valentino and his bullshit.
"You're not too old for a bottle, baby. If you want to drink one and it makes you happy, I'm happy for you," the feline reassured. He kissed Angel's cheek, making him feel better. He then carried him upstairs, Fat Nuggets following them.
Husk and Angel reached the little one's nursery. He made his way over to the rocking chair and grabbed the quilt that was hanging over it. He turned on the side lamp and sat down, cradling Angel on his lap. Fat Nuggets came in and climbed up the pet steps next to the chair, wanting to join the cuddle pile.
Husk picked the piglet up and placed him on Angel’s lap. Fat Nuggets snuggled close to Angel while Husk covered them up with the quilt.
"Comfy?" Husk checked. Angel nodded and rubbed his eyes for the umpteenth time. Fat Nuggets contentedly oinked.
Husk then removed the pacifier from the arachnid's mouth and replaced it with the bottle. Angel began suckling rhythmically, holding onto his caregiver's claws.
"There we go," Husk crooned as he began rocking the chair back and forth in a slow pace. "You like the milk?"
Angel nodded his head and continued drinking. Husk began singing softly to add on to the quiet, peaceful ambience. The baby stared at his caregiver with love in his eyes and blinked slowly.
"There you go. Just go to sleep. You and Fat Nuggets are safe. I'm here," Husk said before continuing to sing.
Angel soon fell asleep with the bottle in his mouth. His sucking had slowed before coming to a stop, but there was still milk. Husk gently pulled the bottle out and put his pacifier back in his mouth. Angel’s eyes opened a crack, and he let out a fuss.
"Shhh-shhh, it's night-night time, baby. It's okay," Husk soothed as he began rubbing Angel's back. The baby buried his face in Husk’s chest as he continued fussing.
Realizing that he forgot to burp Angel, Husk carefully sat him up and patted his back. The spider let out a few burps, his pacifier falling out of his mouth and onto the carpeted floor.
"There we are. Good job," Husk praised as he retrieved a fresh paci from the paci basket next to the lamp. "Feeling better now?"
Angel yawned in response once Husk popped the new soother in his mouth, relieved now that his tummy was no longer hurting.
Husk resumed singing and rocking Angel for a little bit. He also began purring to help his baby fall back asleep. It worked like a charm.
Husk carefully removed the blanket off of them. He then stood up and carried the sleeping spider and his pet pig over to his crib. Husk tucked them in and began rubbing the spider's back.
Angel cooed softly in his sleep, Husk's heart warming like a fireplace on a cold winter's night.
"Sweet dreams, little ragno," Husk whispered as he planted a kiss on Angel's head. "Fat Nuggets, make sure Angel gets some good rest. Let me know through the monitor if he needs me during the night, okay?"
Fat Nuggets snorted a response and started to fall asleep.
Husk turned on Angel's crib side toy, turning down the volume so it wouldn't wake him up. He then went over to the dresser and turned on his nightlight. After confirming that Angel was still sleeping, Husk then grabbed the baby monitor and left the room.
