Work Text:
“Where is this place, again?”
“Downtown. Uh…you know that burger place?”
“The one with the fries?”
“Yeah, the one with the fries. It’s a couple blocks north of that, I think.”
“You think?”
“I’ll figure it out.”
“Are you sure I can’t drive?”
“If you drive, it’ll take us an hour. If I drive, we can be there in forty-five minutes.”
“Yeah, see, that’s the problem – ”
“Seatbelts, please!”
“Dude, I’m the only other person in the car.”
“Are you wearing your seatbelt?”
“…Well, I am now.”
“Perfect. Let’s go!”
-
“Stop doing that.”
“Doing what?”
“That gasping thing. Stop it.”
“Well maybe I would stop gasping if you would stop swerving in front of opposing traffic.”
“It’s called a left turn.”
“NOT WHEN YOU CUT IT THAT CLOSE – ”
-
“You need to start braking, the light is red.”
“I am braking.”
“Brake harder!”
“I am!”
“No, you’re not!”
-
“Light’s yellow.”
“Mm.”
“Light’s yellow, why aren’t we slowing down?”
“I can make it.”
“That’s not how it – aaaaand you’re going for it.”
“See? The light stayed yellow!”
“One of these days you’re going to kill me.”
-
“Why are we making a U-turn.”
“I missed the turn.”
“This is the third U-turn you’ve made in ten minutes. Do you even know where we are anymore?”
“Sure I do. We’re downtown.”
“I’m blown away by your expert navigation skills.”
“Thanks.”
“That was sarcasm.”
-
“Why are you turning left? The light is red!”
“We’re on a one-way street.”
“So!?”
“I’m turning left onto a one-way street.”
“And!?”
“You’re allowed to make a left turn on red if it’s from a one-way street onto a one-way street.”
“…That can’t be true.”
“Look it up.”
“Uh…”
“What does it say?”
“…It’s legal. Somehow.”
“I told you it was fine.”

Dark turns to look at Chosen once the car is parked.
Chosen smirks at him. “I don’t know why you made such a fuss. We made it, didn’t we?”
Dark rolls his eyes. “When we go home, I’m driving.”
“All right, granny.”
“For the last time, I do not drive like a granny!”
