Work Text:

On a rainy afternoon in the middle of winter Evan, led by some instinctual fear, decided to abandon his sleep and rush out of his room. A sudden wave of smoke filled the area around him and his airways. His vision blurred as he tried to make out a figure heading towards him. Glassy blue eyes widened as he backed up. Step after step his terror heightened. Who was this man? Why is he here? Questions filled his head. Even to the point of blending out the flames. The man whoever he may be closed the short distance between them two. A hand reached right towards his face. He couldn't make out that face just a big black whole mass. Time seemed to slow down as he neared his end. The air in the room became even more unbearable due to his frantic breathing. Evan could feel himself dying. Every second felt like agony. Like he was hanging on a thread.

Warmth spread through his body as his sight blackened and his body swayed. But it all came to a stop as the hand that reached towards his face seemed to take hold.

Paranoia spread through his body. Yet the hand only seemed to hold his face with seemingly no ill intend. That gesture instantly brought him back to reality. Fire everywhere. The black mass slowly faded away, the face of that stranger steadily became clearer. Questions filled his head all over again. Why are there flames everywhere and who is this man? With the stranger in front of him now clear as day he could at last observe that face. The strangers' tall frame was the first thing that came to view. Evan stared at him for what seemed an eternity. Those brown eyes, Evan recognized them from somewhere. He couldn't quite place it, but he could never get those eyes out of his mind. Deep brown eyes that pierced the inner parts of himself.

How could he ever forget. In his dreams all he could see were those eyes. From one moment to the next he could feel himself being pulled somewhere. It all felt surreal.

Finally, he could breathe again and feel the air all around him. That strange man he was so gentle he just felt safe. It was strange he felt as safe as a newborn even as his house burned down in front of him and the flames reflected in his blue eyes. He could hear a voice slowly becoming louder, more noticeable. The voice was tender it reminded him of the soft breeze by the ocean. Every word brought him back to the gentle waves he used to feel when he was still a child. In an instant he could feel himself coming back to reality as a firm hand grasped his rosy cheek. Blue eyes stared into deep brown ones.

Words became clear "Are you hurt" was the first thing he could really understand.

Without even thinking he felt himself nod. His hand instinctually reached out to hold the hand stroking his cheek as a slight wave of embarrassment flushed over him. A quick

"sorry" was said after he swiftly pulled his hand back. The unfamitiar man just chuckled and told him not to worry and that everything was going to be okay. With a slight smirk he introduced himself "My name's Devon. Sorry I broke in, but I had to save you. I couldn't just let you die." Evan just stared blank faced this man just saved him out of a burning building and not even five Minutes after he is already smirking at him as if it's a joke. He couldn't decide if it was charming or creepy. At least his smile is cute, and those dimples are kind of adorable, thought Evan while averting his gaze as a slight blush spread all over his face. The taller man didn't even try to suppress his smug grin at that. Offended by this rude gesture, Evan averted his gaze and let out a sound of irritation. Devon with a genuine look of concern asked the smaller man if he had somewhere to stay that night which was countered with a reluctant frown. Rather than reply, the taller man just took his hand and led him to a very expensive looking car. Evan couldn't even dream of ever stepping into such a car. How could he with his lazy looking clothes, even think of that. Devon noticed his reluctance at seeing the car and pushed him gently on his lower back to push him inside. Though with a slight struggle Evan eventually settled down on the passenger seat. Now with a better few he could finally observe the other male. He studied the other for so long, he didn't even notice the other staring back. The taller male had deep brown eyes that stood in perfect contrast to his dirty blond hair. He looked soft, yet at the same time intimidating. Wealth was radiating from him not just from his attitude or his looks but also just from his clothes. Evan was sure even one piece of the man's outerwear was worth more than Evans' whole existence. Even the ebony suit he wore matched his deep olive skin perfectly. Slowly his gaze traveled from his clothes right into his eyes. Their eyes locked in an instant. A shiver spread through his whole body as he froze in place. He realized he had been staring for a while and the other clearly seemed amused at that. "This is embarrassing" Evan thought while avoiding the others stare. Disappearing into his seat would have been perfect at this moment, but life didn't seem to take it easy with him. Devon just chuckled to himself and started the car. He knew bringing Evan to his mansion would be too much for the smaller male, so he decided on taking him to a cozy flat he owned on the edge of town. Once parked in front of the apartment complex he stepped out of the car and went directly to open the other man's door. Evan stared up at him with a look of embarrassment in his eyes. A strong hand grabbed him by the arm and gently dragged him after himself. As they walked, Evan kept his gaze locked onto the back of the other man's head to steady his nerves. They walked for a bit till Devon swiftly stopped. Taked by surprise Evan walked straight into the taller man's back. Devon looked back with a gentle smile on his face while making sure Evan didn't fall and hurt himself. Evan just huffed and hurried his steps till he was in front of the other. Devon just shook his head, clearly enjoying the annoyance of the other one. Once they reached the front door the taller man just dragged him inside. Evan didn't even bother struggling with the other and just rushed inside to drop himself on the couch. Exhaustion took over and he fell asleep in an instant.
