Work Text:

How many nights has he ever dreamt of waking up on the same bed next to his lover now wife? Probably several moons have passed since then, he never thought their established relationship would lead to this stage where they would build their family together in a cozy home like this.

Stelle, currently asleep with her mouth agape with her alarm ringing across the room they share and sleep in– has yet to wake up from sleep. Phainon, being the heavy sleeper he is, was able to sleep in through the first few times when the alarm rang; this time though, he woke up to her alarm rather than the woman herself.

Regardless, he was grateful to be awake next to her, gently holding her hand while she beautifully sleeps with her bangs tossed to the right side of her forehead. He pauses for a moment to stare at her sleepy face, before shaking her body to wake her up. “Dearie…” he softly calls her. She’s still asleep.

“Dearie…”

“Huh–” she slowly shakes her head,

“Your alarm…”

She turned around as she let out a grunt and grabbed her phone to press on the “Stop” button, silencing her phone.

She lies down on her bed again, looking upwards. It hasn't been long since their marriage, yet it feels like they've been living in a loop of waking up, work, leisure, sleep and repeat. Will they ever be bored of each other, after living under the same roof since the day they’ve said their marriage vows?

The smell of toast and fried eggs entered Stelle’s nostrils as she gripped onto her console as she pressed multiple buttons simultaneously to beat her opponent in a video game she played continuously for weeks. Phainon would often be the one to cook themselves breakfast, lunch if they stayed at home, alongside dinner– if not, she would come down to the kitchen to help him.

…She could sleep and drool with the smell of food…

“Breakfast is ready!” he called to her.

“Urgh, darn it!” she exclaimed, after losing to her opponent two times in a row. He flinched from the sudden sharpness of her voice, “Love, are you alright?” his voice softened, slightly turning his head, worried for her. “I’m fine, I just lost to this dude twice.” admitted Stelle. He sighed from her frustration, finding it adorable on how she expresses her frustrations; part of him sympathizes for his beautiful wife.

She leaves her console unattended and takes a seat on the dining chair, using her spoon to scoop the scrambled eggs and devours it. She lifts one leg, resting it on her left thigh for comfort as Phainon continues eating his food. “You know what? I tried using most of the methods to win every game, nothing worked!” complained Stelle. “You can keep practicing, my dear. It doesn’t take overnight for things like these.”

“I know, but I feel sad that it didn’t go how I wanted it to.” she pouted.

He then caressed her hand to snap her out of the bubble, “In my eyes, you’re proficient in everything you do.” his smile radiating warmth.

She let out a grin and stared downward, before grabbing her spoon to continue eating her breakfast; Phainon then mirrors her. Throughout the years of the two knowing each other, he never failed to sweep off her feet again and again when she needed comfort after a rough day or time.

“I’m gonna get to work now,” Phainon announced, holding his briefcase.

Stelle nodded, “Drive safe.” he grabbed Stelle’s arm to give her a kiss on her forehead. “I love you.” he confessed. She mouthed his words, then walked towards the door as he opened and closed it behind him.

After a while of her relaxing on the couch, she walks to their room to go for a morning shower, undressing herself and enters their washroom; her pajamas now added to her pile of clothes. She would leave her clothes combined with his to slowly pile up in the laundry bag, eventually ending up on the floor, and this annoys Phainon a lot.

As drops of water trickle down her skin; washing off the remaining soap on her body, she suddenly remembers Phainon’s request to purchase a pack of coffee beans. Stelle widened her eyes and closed the shower tab; leaving the washroom and wrapping her towel around her chest.

–

She opens and closes their room door behind her; phone glued to her shoulder as she leaned on it while wearing her shoes, “Babe, I need to go to the store for a bit, some stock from our pantry ran out.” Stelle the car keys for a different vehicle.

“Honey, if you remembered it sooner I could've driven you to the store.”  his voice through the phone.

“I know, I know. I'm sorry, okay? Call me back later, love you dear.”

She ended the call before Phainon could reply to her, she locks the door behind her and unlocks the car on her right.

You got a good man at home waiting for you.

And he'd wait forever for you.

Stelle enters the car to start the engines, then receives a new notification on her device.

Phainon:

12:00 PM

Be sure to remember it in the future, sweetheart. ❤️

Phainon:

12:00 PM

And I love you too. <3

He poured the fully brewed coffee into both mugs, another one would be given to Stelle. Phainon slowly approaches her with both beverages at hand, giving the other to her before sitting down on the beige couch next to her. The couple clinked their mugs together and sipped their coffee. In the cool night, it would be the perfect time for them to share about their day.

Stelle then places a blanket over her thighs, “Hey– can we talk?” called Phainon.

“Hm?” she hummed.

“I believe we could reduce over-piling our clothes to avoid mess around our bathroom entrance, don’t you think so?” he questioned.

“No, I don’t think so, I just don’t want us to waste on detergent, that’s all.” argued Stelle, “My love, over-piling clothes isn’t a good thing either. It…creates mess around the house, which means more housework needs to be done.” he retorted. “We both know that we hate doing alot of housework, don’t we dear?”

Her pupils dilated in his realisation of accidentally hurting her husband’s feelings, Stelle believed she was only keeping the house clean unaware that she is unintentionally doing something he despised. “I...I’m sorry, Snowy. I didn’t know I was hurting your feelings that way.” she touched his arm with her right hand while the other placed the heated mug at the side table.

Stelle doesn’t realise this other than Phainon, but her hands were as shaky as when the earth shakes itself, her eyes watery. “H-Hey, why are we feeling sad now?”

“No…I– I didn’t mean to hurt you that way, confessed Stelle. “It takes everything in me to be pissed, dear.”

“I promise, as soon as the basket is full I’ll immediately wash them!”

Phainon chuckled. “That’s my girl.” he planted a kiss on her cheek.

She stared into his eyes, remembering the times where he would take her out on long drives and dates. Now, they’re in their abode, in a warm embrace from what they’ve built. As he recall the times, he realised that it was worth waiting for.
